[ Crabula : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

With a series of loud stomping sounds, out of the shadows stepped a gigantic crab. The beast was much larger than the small crab monsters that had been scattered around the dungeon; it towered over the Hylians, almost twice their height. Its exoskeleton was mostly light blue, with white splotches, in most places. Its legs were white-tipped, and its top shell was a dark brown color. Its forearms were much larger than its other legs, with huge pincers almost the size of its main body.

The crab made an odd screeching noise that sounded somewhat like someone screaming underwater, and scuttled closer to the two who had dared to enter its domain.

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Phyela was stricken with fear as she gazed upon the massive crustacean, one of its giant claws snapping right in front of her face. Her skin had turned pale, eyes half the size of her face. She didn't even blink for a few moments. It let out a screech, and she had to cover her ears. Thankfully, the noise snapped her back to reality, and she looked up at it again, trying not to be intimidated. But if she were to die from a crab, she'd never hear the end of it.
She gazed at it, studying its movements and general appearance. Would she be able to freeze it? Looking at the Ice Rod, she figured it was worth a shot. But where to start?
A claw came for her with blinding speed, snapping around the witch. "Agh!" she let out, struggling to break free. She managed to wrestle her right arm from its grasp, which held the Ice Rod, and immediately spewed out a flurry of ice, which froze the giant crab's pincer and part of the arm. It didn't seem to notice right away until it went to swing, and forcefully bashed its claw-along with her-on the ground. Fortunately, she broke free, but the ice didn't seem to do too much. Was she aiming at the wrong spot?
Trying to stand, her knees buckled under, and she noticed more than a few wounds on her sides. hey weren't too deep, but the pain was unbearable. "Ow!" she grasped her wounds, trying to dull the pain, but it was futile, and the only result was that her hands were now stained with blood. Alright, so not doing that again...

[ Izzy : Deku Mine : 1F >>> 2F ]

"I-I'll be... fine, guys," Izzy coughed, giving his friends a warm smile, though doing so made his face feel as if it were cracking. "Fel, you did great. Now let's finish that bug off!" He grabbed a Deku Seed, pulled back on his slingshot, and released, letting it fly up toward the Dragonfly. It hit its head dead-on, and the creature screeched while it fell like a rock, just before poofing like its brother. Izzy gave a quick nod, as if to say "That's what you get!", but remained silent for now. He ran - despite the pain it caused his whole body - toward the Northern ladder and began to climb it. "Let's go, guys! We're almost there!" He then proceeded to jump over the gap - this time without being shocked - and continued running up the ramp, which led up to the second floor.

[ Crabula : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Crabula let out another shriek when she noticed her claw was frozen. Once the Hylian girl broke free, she decided to just let it fall to the floor until she could break the ice. She scuttled closer and swung her other pincer at the girl, this time jabbing downward at her. She knew that the ice would be breaking soon...

[ Felin : Deku Mine : 1F to 2F ]

Felin followed after Izzy, making sure to keep a close watch on him this time in case another monster snuck up on the two. After she made the gap, she dug out the map, continuing up the ramp. Oddly, the markings on the parchment disappeared, replaced with new ones, and a large circle was filled in, which she presumed was the room they were in now. Two other rooms were on the map, but only the vague outlines were inked in. "That's weird..." she mumbld to herself.
They passed by a door on the southeastern side, judging by the map. "Hey, let's see what's behind this." she told Izzy, pointing in the direction of the door and briefly taking her eyes off the piece of paper. After stuffing the map in her pocket, she grabbed the bottom of the door and hefted. "Nngh!" The door seemed like it didn't want to budge, but finally, she was able to open it. She jogged lightly into the room.

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Phyela rolled to the side, barely dodging the claw as it came crashing down, and again, and again. "Do something Luke!" she cried. The claw came at her again, and she rolled onto some soft ground. Looking at it, it appeared to be the same type of dirt the boy could dig through with his mitts. But she didn't have time to talk, as the claw came again, burying itself in the dirt for a brief moment. She used this opportunity to freeze the claw before it was pulled back out. "You're the moleman!"

[ Luke : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

While the crab was distracted by Phyela, Luke had decided to attack its legs - thinking that maybe that would bring it down. However, his pole staff did no damage, so he put it back up and decided to use his Mole Mitts instead... And that was when he heard Phy's cries for help. He turned and ran in front of the monster, trying to distract it from his friend. Then he realized what she had said, and he noticed that she did have a point... Maybe he could dig a hole that it would get stuck in!

He bent down and swiped at the rock floor with the Mole Mitts a few times, and once his tiny part was cleared away, he could see water through the hole. Hm... Maybe if it got stuck down here, we could freeze it permanently? Or at least for long enough to figure out how to kill it...

"Hey Phy, I'm gonna try something!" Luke yelled, and without any further explanation, he hit the front of the crab's shell with his Mitts, causing it so turn its attention to him, then ran like hell to the hole in the rock. He jumped through the hole headfirst - which he inwardly kicked himself for, suddenly afraid he might break his neck - splashing into water. The first thing he noticed was that it was very deep - at least sixteen feet - so he had no fear of harming himself. The second thing was that this pool was clean, and there were no fish, or animals or monsters of any kind, here in the water. He found that very odd. All of the water they had seen so far had been fairly clean, but it had its share of dirt and the occasional fish. But not this water; it was clear as could be. Well, now it was slightly less so, what with the dirty Luke jumping in...

He popped back up to the surface and shouted at the giant crab. "Hey! he yelled, before sinking back down, then popping back up with "Hey you! Over here!" After every short sentence, he would dive back down into the water, then quickly pop back up again - it was somewhat like a game. He continued to do so until he could make the crab walk over to him.

Crabula : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

The giant crab seemed quite agitated by the puny Hylian boy's antics, and scuttled slowly over to the hole he had created. Her frozen claw was dragging lifelessly behind as she walked, until she finally broke free. She snapped the claws together happily, then jabbed her claw down at the boy, just as he was beginning to dive back down into the water. She then made to pull back and see how much damage she had done, but her claw was stuck in the tiny hole! Oh well, no matter, she could pull it out in a moment. It wasn't like being stuck could keep her there for long... Her claw would have to be stuck in frozen water to render her motionless for long.

[ Izzy : Deku Mine : 2F ]

"Wha-?" Izzy shouted, screeching to a halt right before the walkway cut off sharply. If he had gone any farther, he would've tripped and fallen onto a nearby floating platform, busting his face more likely than not. He saw that there was another Wind Switch here for his Whirlwind... But he had heard Felin calling him, so it would have to wait. He turned around and entered through the doorway along with Fel, and looked around.

The room had a pit in the middle, where the floor suddenly dropped down several feet. It rose back up on the far edge of the room, where a large treasure chest rested. There was a ladder over there, so that they could easily get to the treasure chest... but there was no way to get back up over here on this side! Wondering what the designers of such a place could possibly be thinking, he took a step forward... but suddenly backed up when he heard a familiar sound.

"Skulltulas?"

"There are two of them, right over here," Haelo said, flying toward the overgrown spiders.

"Gotcha. Thanks, Haelo." He took two steps forward, taunting the two Skulltula to drop down. Once they spun around, he gave both of them a Deku Seed to the underbelly, and they spun around, shaking from the pain. He waited for them to turn back around, then finished them both off with top speed and perfect aim. He was getting way too used to seeing those things...

He noticed that there were a two Dragonflies, flying around the other end of the room, above the treasure chest. He got ready to take them out, too... But that was when he noticed that he was out of Deku Seeds...

[ Felin : Deku Mine : 2F ]

The Kokiri girl blindly leapt off the ledge as Izzy was dealing with the Skulltulas, tucking and rolling as she landed. Looking up, she spotted two Dragonflies, and a scowl ran across her face. She just hoped they wouldn't attack her as she ascended.
Reaching the top, the insects took notice and closed in, but Felin was prepared this time. One came from the left, the other, right, tails both ignited with dozens of volts. Right as they shot their tails at the girl, she jumped back, and the Dragonflies shocked each other!
"Now that's using your head, Felin!" Akin commented.
Felin then drew her blade and performed a jumping spin attack, taking out both insects in a single attempt. However, the move made her dizzy, and she had a hard time standing straight for a few seconds. "Remind me not to do that again."
Shaking her head to clear it, she noticed a few plants that seemed a little out of place. Cutting them down, the first hid nothing, but she found five Deku Seeds in the other. "Hey Iz, I found some seeds you can use!" she shouted over at him before stuffing the contents in her pocket. And now, time to open that chest. It was large, which was a good sign; bigger chests usually had useful items in them, like the map and compass. The lid was heavy at first, and the flash of light didn't help matters either, but as she shoved the lid fully open to let the weird light shine upwards, she found a most intriguing item; a simple hook attached to some rope."Oh, cool, what's this?" she reached in for it.
Akin studied the item. "From what I understand, that's the Grappling Hook. It's used to cross gaps like this one by many tribes."
Looking up, Felin noticed a rather odd log planted into the wall. Giving her new toy a whirl-literally!-she flung it up to the log, which wrapped around a couple times before the hook dug in. Pulling the rope to test its sturdiness, she hopped, letting the momentum of the rope swing her across, where she eventually landed back on the first ledge where Izzy stood. "Not bad, eh?" she then looked down to the Grappling Hook, "Man, I am gonna have fun with this!"

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Phyela smiled eagerly when she saw that the crab was now stuck. She tried firing a snowball at the crab, striking its hard shell, but it didn't seem to do too much damage. Trying a different approach, she got close to the hole, and although the crab's claw was stuck, she saw she might be able to fit a fine stream of ice through it. But wasn't Luke under there? "Hurry up and get out, Luke!" she called through the hole. "I've got an idea!"

[ Luke : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

When Crabula had jabbed its claw into the hole Luke had made, it had barely missed Luke himself; fortunately, swimming was the one truly physical activity at which he excelled, so he had gotten away in time. When he saw that the claw had gotten stuck just as he had predicted, he stifled a laugh at the thought of the giant crab trying desperately to pull it out. Instead of simply hanging around, he swam away from the hole for a moment, until he was - or would pop up, rather - behind the crab. He swam up to the water's surface and dug another hole, then jumped up onto dry land and shook himself at least partially dry. He then saw that the crab was still stuck, so he ran up one of its legs and jumped up onto the beast's back.

"Well, I guess I'll start here," he said to no one in particular, before clawing into the top shell with his Mole Mitts. It didn't seem to hurt the crab, but at least it seemed to be damaging the shell. Maybe if they got rid of the shell, they could actually hurt this thing? It was worth a try...

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

After seeing Luke pop out behind the beast, Phyela worked her magic. Using the Ice Rod, she flung a stream of ice into the hole, which slowly froze the water, along with the part of the crab's claw that was submerged. After watching it struggle harder, she knew they had enough time to whale on it. "Alright, now we can hurt it!" she exclaimed, firing the frosty powers of the Ice Rod at the crustacean's shell, countless shards of ice pelting the shell with extreme force. She'd let Luke do his thing to pitch in until Crabula broke free, which may not be for a while.

[ Luke : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

"Wow, great thinking, Phy!" Luke said, pausing in his clawed assault for a moment to give his friend a thumbs up from his perch way atop the crab's shell. "Now it won't be able to get free for a while!" He continued to claw at the monster's shell, which was a very slow process, but at least he was gradually making progress. It would be quite a while before he could break it, but until then, he just hoped that the crab didn't break free and throw him off.

[ Crabula : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Crabula made another screeching sound, enraged at being immobilized by ice. Well, she couldn't move away, but at least she could still move her other claw. While twitching her legs impatiently, she clawed at the Hylian girl, who was pelting her with ice, which further infuriated her. She still wasn't aware that the boy was on her back; after all, her shell was thick, and very tough. His furious clawing might as well be an unnoticed tickle, as long as she couldn't see him.

[ Izzy : Deku Mine : 2F ]

Izzy whistled as he watched Felin swing across with her amazing new item, and jump back onto the other side. "That's awesome, Fel! I'll bet that thing does some serious damage against enemies, too. Oh... I think I saw one of those pole things out in the main chamber." And with that, he turned and scurried on out the doorway, and back onto the walkway, where he pointed above the huge gap, where another hook pole was. "See? There's one of those here... and another platform with a wind switch too. I think it's so we can both easily get across."

Without waiting any longer, he jumped onto the floating platform, then turned around and used his Whirlwind to send a gust of wind toward the fan-shaped switch. He immediately felt himself being tugged along on the platform, and had to regain his balance, making sure not to fall. Once it had taken him to the other side, he jumped off, landing on the next part of the ramp, where he made two discoveries. One of these was that there were four more Dragonflies flying around on this floor, which he hadn't noticed before because they seemed to favor the West side of the chamber, for some reason. The second discovery, was a door to his left. It wasn't locked or blocked off at all, so he figured he'd check it to see if he found anything useful.

When he opened the door, all he found was another wind switch platform, which seemed to lead across a very deep pit. On the other side was nothing but a door to another room. "I wonder what's in there...?" he asked, taking out his Whirlwind again.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 29, 2012 5:20 pm

[ Felin : Deku Mine : 2F ]

"Hey, wait up!" Felin called after the boy, rushing out of the room and sliding a bit on the walkway before jogging to the edge. Since there was a platform with a switch Izzy could use, she had to use something else. True to Izzy's word, as the girl looked up, another log jutted out from the wall. Swinging her hook to get momentum, she tossed it upwards, the hook wrapping around the log twice, allowing her to cross safely.
She watched as Izzy entered the new room, deciding to stay outside for now and take care of the Dragonflies. She ran up the ramp a little further to close distance between them, as she swung the Grappling Hook. When a Dragonfly flew within range, she tossed the hook at it, though never let go of the rope so as not to let it fall limply.
The hook struck the Dragonfly's tail, and it let out a yelp as she pulled it in. It crashed against the side of the ramp as she hauled it closer, withdrawing her sword and stabbing it, watching it die. She repeated the process with another Dragonfly before turning her head back to the room Izzy disappeared through. Digging out her map, she noticed that the room had two sections, or two rooms; she couldn't tell if there was another door, but only the area Izzy was currently in was inked. She looked to the northern end of the map, seeing it cut off, which piqued her curiosity. Looking up herself, she saw a large vine wall, and it seemed they weren't done yet.

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Phyela continued to pelt the crab for a little longer until she stopped, figuring another tactic would be better. She heard Luke pound and scrape away at the shell. She didn't want to freeze too much of it, but maybe they could team up to take this down faster.
Creeating a pile of leaves so as to climb onto the shell, she jogged over to the boy, trying to keep her balance. "Hey. What's say we work together to break this?" she asked. "It seems to be the only thing working." She then proceeded to freeze her own legs so as not to lose balance before continuing her frosty barrage, sometimes freezing sections of the shell inadvertently. "You think we'll do more damage if you attack a frozen part?" she wasn't sure, but freezing this beast seemed to be the only way to subdue it. If not, they'd just have to keep going at it like they are now.

[ Luke : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

Luke nodded quickly, not finding the presence of mind to spend energy on words at the moment, he was so focused on breaking that shell. The one major thought on his mind, the one thought he couldn't shake away, was that this must be the creature that had dragged his sister off. If they destroyed it, surely he would finally find her.

He took Phyela's idea under consideration, and sidestepped quickly over to a small area of the shell that was frozen. He reared back his fist quickly for a moment, then plunged it down as fiercely as he could in a downward punch, which shattered the ice and left the tiniest of cracks in the shell. Finally feeling as if they were making real progress, he gave Phy a quick smile, as if to say, "You're a genius!", before running over to another frozen patch.

[ Crabula : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

The giant crab monster had finally realized that the two tiny things that had entered her lair were now on top of her shell, and now she was beginning to become irritated by their futile attempts to battle her. She made a long, soft gargling sound as she strained her claw, finally breaking out of the ice. Once she was free, she tucked her claws in front of her, and tucked her legs under her body, then began spinning at high speed all around the room, eventually throwing the two Hylians off of her back. Once they were both off, she hopped back up to her legs and began scuttling around normally as she had before. Drawing near her two enemies, she raised her claws up into the air and began to strike with them yet again.

[ Izzy : Deku Mine : 2F ]

Before Izzy jumped onto the platform, he noticed some tall blades of grass lying around. He couldn't cut them like Fel could, but he stared at his Whirlwind and started to think. "I wonder... The gusts of wind made by this thing are pretty strong... Maybe they can..." Instead of finishing his sentence, he figured he would just go ahead and try it out. He blew on the Whirlwind right next to the grass, and the wind that it sent forth shredded the grass quite efficiently, leaving behind a few Deku Seeds. "Well, I know how to get more ammo from now on," he thought out loud, picking the seeds up and putting them in his Bullet Bag. He then turned and jumped onto the platform, then used the Whirlwind yet again to power up the wind switch, sending him sailing on over across the pit. When he jumped onto land on the other side, he saw that he had been right; there was nothing here but a door. He picked it up quickly and passed through,

Strangely, there was nothing in this next room except for two Dragonflies and a small chest. He wondered what was inside the chest; he didn't think they would need anything else. They were already almost out, weren't they? Regardless, he killed the Dragonflies quickly with a few shots from the Yellow Jacket, then ran over to see what they had been guarding. When he picked up the lid of the chest and reached inside, he found a red Rupee! Without wasting any more time, he turned around and ran back out of the room, then jumped back on the platform and used the Whirlwind on the fan-switch again. Once it carried him over, he hopped off and ran back into the main chamber.

It took him a while, but once he caught up with Felin, he let out a short laugh, though he was still breathing a bit heavily. "Well..." he said, taking off his Kokiri cap and fanning his face, "...that was rather anticlimactic."

[ Felin : Deku Mine : 2F to 3F ]

Felin gave a smile. "Did you find anything?" she asked, turning her attention to the vine wall. "We've only got a little further to go!" she pointed up it with a finger before jogging over. A Dragonfly came near and she latched its tail with her hook, dragging it in and stabbing it a couple times.
She then proceeded up the vine wall, finding a small room that didn't appear to have anything special about it, but a large door on the right wall. She waited for Izzy before they would go through it. But its size seemed interesting. The usual doors were small, leading to different sections of the mine. But this one...it screamed important. Hopefully this room was the last they'd have to go through.
Testing something, she put her hands under the door and tried lifting. She was able to get it up slightly, but it was very heavy, and she wouldn't be able to open it alone. She wiped her brow, removing the sweat from that little attempt. "Phew! This thing won't open easy!" she looked over the side, waiting for Izzy.

[ Phyela : Beneath the Well : Boss Room ]

"Whoa, slow down, I'm gonna hurl!" Phyela called as Crabula spun wildly. Eventually her icy barrier on her feet broke from the momentum, and she was flung into a wall. "Ow... she slowly got to her feet, but the room seemed to spin, and she couldn't stabalize herself. She fell back into the wall, using it as support until everything calmed down.
As soon as she recovered, however, the beast caught her again. She wrestled her arm free again before freezing the claw. However, that didn't loosen its grip, so she had to beat the rest of her way free. Eventually, she was able to, and landed on the dirt-right near the hole! Since she didn't know where Luke was flung, and Crabula had its sights set on the witch, she dove in. Crabula slammed its fist in the hole again, and she ignited her finger with her own ice powers, fearing the Ice Rod might freeze her if she tried it, and grabbed onto the claw, which slowly froze it along with the water around it. She was able to get her arm out safely before it completely solidified, and swam close to the other hole Luke dug. Climbing out, she fired a blast from the Ice Rod, freezing the rest of the pool. Afterwards, she plopped down, taking a quick break.
