xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"
"Pah! These novice whelps in combat? I have no doubts that they would crumble." Vaida scoffed. "I will not have our allies see us as weak, Wallace, not ever! The moment this happens, is when the knife could be plunged into our backs. Friends for now maybe, but I do not trust these snobs from the forest country." She paused awkwardly, and sighed out of frustration, being forced to relive how she needed their help to finish off the bat lizards during the siege. Siegell had also gotten away... again. She was just venting her aggression through words.
"...Let the Estarcians handle the battle. Do not get in their way." She finally said, looking back at Wallace. "You and the recruits will be there to learn. Watch out for them, Captain. Do not put them into unnecessary danger." She looked at him sternly and then suddenly shouted loudly. "MIHIRA!!"
The scout, who was listening from outside, jumped and then scampered in. "You will guide this group to Arajudia. No doubt that if left with just a map, this buffoon would end up half way to Mordache." She chuckled, mockingly. "Ready your wyvern and prepare to leave! Dismissed!!" Vaida then turned and started walking back into her office. "Good luck, Captain."
The moment she entered her office, she closed the door and leaned upon it. She pressed her hand against her gut and winced. "...Strong as ever..."

Well, that battle between the commander and this new person certainly was insight on how both sides were. The commander was certainly strong, and didn't want to ever lose. Just by the onslaught, things were going well, and he was surprised by the end result. So, now there are three leaders here? He shrugged the thought off, and continued to listen in.
After sometime of listening, he figured that it would be best to go back to the table. Though before he even left, he heard Vaida call for Mihira to lead the others to Arajudia. Oh that's just... He stayed behind till the others left. He knew what he was about to do was risky, but it would be worth it.
Walking over to Commander Vaida's door, he knocked on it. All he had heard from the end was ver, but he ignored it. "Commander, are you sure it's wise to send them alone, with one lone flier? You sure they won't need more fliers? With the fact the enemy controls that city, won't they need more units?"

 [===] By The Knight's Call [===] [===] Valerick Seredes [===]
Valerick walked rode up to the nearby stable house with his sister beside him. As they approached, they finally stopped and both of them dismounted. A pair of men came to them from the stable house, recognizing their armor as part of the Royal Guard and took away their horses to put them away for the time being. "Well Nuo. We are here to look for our booth. If you happen to see it anywhere, just point it out okay." Valerick began to walk through the fair area, trying to find their booth, but there were just so many people. From the looks of a few things, there may of even been a scuffle or two around certain places. He shook his head a bit at that final thought and then moved on.
As he continued on through the fair, he found the booth that was recruiting for the guard and approached it. He looked around a little bit but couldn't see Alex anywhere. "Alex?" Valerick called into the booth. Hoping that the man was just in the back of the booth and not somewhere else. "Nuo. Why don't you just try and help people by answering their questions as they walk by, if they have any and only if you can answer them. Okay?" Valerick continued to wait at the front of the booth, leaning on it and tapping the wooden front occasionally.

Nuo heard her brother's request to her and nodded her head. She went over to the nearest intersection that was somewhat close to the booth and just meandered about, trying to wait for someone to approach her with a question. At one point, a small child approached her, fascinated by the armor she wore, but his mother quickly took him away asking the little boy 'Not to bother the lady. She's a guardsman.' Nuo somewhat wished she could've told the woman it was fine, but the lady was far too quick and lost in the crowd before Nuo could say anything. "This is going to be a really long day." Nuo said with only somewhat of a whimper. The armor was already becoming a bit of a pain, but she was somewhat use to it thanks to the training she had gone through.

Lloyd and Trinity The White Wolf and The Gold Wing The two backed away from the booth with the hawkman hoping to avoid a crowd and possible confrontation. Lloyd did not want to risk guards getting involved or seeing fmailiar but unfriendly faces. Though an assassin, he knew he and Trinity could be recognized if they had ever been seen before. They walked without purpose hoping to find a job that would interest them, anything would do. Unlike other assassins who killed for pleasure, he killed to be successful in his father's eyes. Lloyd was not above working an odd job to make money, his sword did not cry out for blood. The senior Black Fang looked at Trinity, knowing she too would not care. As an Ilian, she was bred to know the importance of making money, no matter how she earned it. The two walked in silence, getting some looks as they led Helios around.Trinity knew Lloyd was thinking hard about what to do. She knew he wanted to what was best for her and then himself. Though she wanted to tell him to do what he wanted, she knew he would dismiss it, and she did not speak up. She kept her eye out for something interesting and eventually found it. She saw a pair of white armored knights standing by a booth. The male knight stood in front while his companion walked around the area. Not caring that Lloyd was still walking, she went over and asked, "Hi, may I ask what this is? I am in need of a job and your booth stood out." She looked over to Lloyd and waved him over. He reluctantly complied and stood behind her, silent. She would have to do the talking.

Valerick heard someone speaking to him from behind and so he turned around to face them as they finished their sentence. He had his arms down at his sides and watched the woman carefully as she spoke to him. "Well, though I am not actually running this booth, this is a booth that is trying to hire members for the guard. I was sent here to try and help out the man running this booth. If you are interested in joining, then me or him can gladly help you out."

Nuo noticed her brother get approached by another woman and stood in her current position for a little while. After a few moments though she began to walk towards him slowly. As he heard him say what he could to the woman, she just took a spot standing behind him at the ready. She was hoping that would be what he wanted her to do since he didn't tell her anything new. After he finished talking with the woman, he looked over his shoulder and then back at her. Maybe since he didn't say anything she was fine right here then.

Lloyd and Trinity The White Wolf and The Gold Wing Trinity smiled. I may have found a job for us! Take that Master Lloyd! she thought to herself. The man behind the counter said, "Well, though I am not actually running this booth, this is a booth that is trying to hire members for the guard. I was sent here to try and help out the man running this booth. If you are interested in joining, then me or him can gladly help you out."Lloyd joined the conversation, seeing nothing wrong with getting a job. "My name is Lloyd and this is Trinity. The pegasus is Helios. Now what would be expected of us if we joined the guard? I am a swordmaster and though your armor is quite impressive, I cannot fight effectively in armor and my companion has her Ilian made Pegasus Knight armor. Would we be required to wear that armor? Also, what jobs would be expected to do? I do not care what but my friend and I are from... far away. I would prefer we are not separated.Trinity smiled at the knight, "Please excuse my friend, sir knight. He and I are from somewhere else but we wish to settle here and make a life for ourselves. Would we be able to join, I am trained in aerial lance fighting..." Trinity hoped the knight would at least be interested in them. Sadly, she knew she could not use Lloyd's title as the White Wolf to help them. They were in Eyris now, they were nobodies.

"s**t, what time is it..."
A very groggy Marina stirred from her sleep. Her head was throbbing. She groaned loudly, throwing her legs off the side of the bed and pulling herself up into a seated position. She rubbed her eyes for a long moment, attempting to clear the sleep from them. She swallowed once, and her senses immediately rebelled against a very sickening taste. It tasted halfway of vomit, halfway of morning mouth, and entirely of putrid bile. She coughed, bringing more of the taste to her mouth, and hastily hopped out of bed in order to find something to clear the flavor from her mouth. The floorboards creaked underneath her, and, no longer protected by the warmth of her covers, Marina shivered as a chill morning breeze met her bare form. She blinked a couple more times, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. The wall in question was covered in nicks in the better places, and full gashes revealing the outside in the worst.
"What the s**t..." she murmured.
Marina's gaze shifted a few feet to the right, and her eyes widened at the sight of a cheap sword halfway embedded through the wall. She slowly approached a nearby window, and pushed the thin sheet of wood protecting the opening up in order to peer through the window. The sword was solidly lodged through the plank, and she wouldn't be retrieving it any time soon.
"What the s**t."
She lowered the sheet of wood carefully, sealing the window once again, and turned around to survey the rest of her makeshift hut. There were empty bottles of alcohol strewn all over the floor.
"Oh, right.."
Placing the new hazard of structural failure from her mind, she set forth kicking the bottles out of way as she stumbled to a shoddily built shelf and retrieved a lumpy package of rations off it. She peeled the top from it, casting it haphazardly aside, and threw the opening of the pouch to her mouth. The putrid taste of morning bile was quickly replaced by the slightly less putrid, heavily salted, formless "stew" she was devouring. Once this breakfast was choked down, she finally set out to find some clothes to cover her naked body.
Once her usual attire of plain, unadorned, dark clothing was found, she threw the garments down the tree she resided at the top of, and slipped down a hatch to the ground below. The tree overlooked a small pond, undisturbed and unknown within the wilderness but for her, and she quickly dipped herself into it. She swam around it for a short while, and once she felt she was adequately cleansed, she climbed out and quickly dried and dressed herself for the trip into town. It was a moderate jaunt from where she resided, and the sun was already high in the sky. She cursed herself for running so late, and ran steadily until she had approached town limits.
Within, she found the job fair already set well into motion, and she browsed the many stands that had been erected for the occasion. She still wasn't quite sure why such an event had been started so soon after war, but it wasn't her place to complain. There was the Host Club being its usual doofy self, and she noted the distinct absence of the competing Hostess Club. There was the Watch announcing desperately its need for recruits, and Marina chortled at the sentiment. She watched Amelia sitting at the booth for a long moment, recalling the grave amount of injury she had taken, and wondered if the little b***h was really supposed to be out right now. Marina shrugged and moved on, browsing a few of the less prolific stands. The Eyris Bistro was offering free samples of biscotti, and she picked one up to munch on as she browsed through brochures. It certainly didn't compare to the Hostess Club's treats, but it'd do in a pinch. Overall, she found the fair to be entirely ridiculous.
That's when she turned around to the scene.
"What the ******** is he?" Marina yelled, storming over. "He's a ******** laguz, you ignorant son of a b***h!" Marina raised her arm, and drew a violent backhanded slap across Sain's face. "And you!" she howled, spinning around to Leon. "Who the <********> do you think you are?! He's the ******** Hawk King!" She then proceeded to kick Leon squarely in the shin. "Subordinate, my a**..."
She wasn't really mad at all. She just enjoyed enhancing a scene. Her hangover, however, certainly wasn't helping ******** pricks don't know authority when they see it..." She huffed and spun around to follow Tibarn. Instantly her demeanor had shifted, and she hastened her gait in order to catch up to Tibarn.
"'Sup, Birdboss."

"THANK you, someone," the Hawk King muttered, rolling his eyes and turning around to wave his arm at Marina gratefully. "See, here's somebody who gets it." He'd gotten Amelia into a seat at the booth, preferring her sitting to on her feet, and had been preparing to go retrieve her horse-- leaving her under Vaherianslyeri's watchful eye-- when Marina had arrived. Interrupted by her presence, he returned to the booth to lean against it, slapping Marina on the back. "I mean honestly, when did being a member of the Crew stop having weight, exactly? When is it that people stopped saying 'Yes, sir!' when I gave them an order?" He crossed his arms, folding his wings and supporting his weight on his left shoulder against the booth. Vah had hopped out of Amelia's lap to go wave at Marina around his coat, but...
Well, Marina was a little scary, even if her daddy did say she was 'good people'. She quickly scampered back to Amelia to sit down again-- but that didn't last! With Marina here, Tibarn helped the young General get to her feet. "Let's go somewhere private... Watch house, your office." He glanced back at Leon and paused. "Keep an eye on my daughter, Mr. Vatara," he said after a moment. "Marina's just reminded me that there's business to discuss with Amelia." With Marina in tow, the great Hawk escorted the young blonde woman toward the towering Watch house.
"Anyway," he went on, "Kind of bothers me that beorc here aren't mentioning laguz to newbies on day one. I haven't the time or the patience to explain it all the time..." He glanced back over his shoulder at Amelia. "Weren't you working on a greeting program for new arrivals?"
Young Vaherianslyeri waved as her father walked Amelia down the street, giggling softly, then jumped and grabbed the edge of the booth table, grumbling and bracing her feet on the leg to haul herself up and swing one leg onto the counter before rolling herself all the way up and sitting cross-legged facing Leon.
"So! Whatcha doooooin'?"

 [===] By The Knight's Call [===] [===] Valerick Seredes [===]
Valerick listened to both of their words, nodding his head slightly as they spoke, giving at least some form of acknowledgement. "Well. Mister Lloyd. To give a more simplistic answer to your question without going into the long and dreary details I am normally supposed to tell you, there are several things we could do. First of all, in order to make you a recognizable guard, I believe we could form vestments of much lighter armor with the normal crest on it for you to use. And as for your friend here, it wouldn't be hard to apply a small iron crest onto the armor. It wouldn't damage it and still make her recognizable amongst the fellow guardsman. This would also allow the members of the watch recognize you. However, as for keeping you two together, a few words can be placed in amongst hiring ranking officials to try and ensure it, but I doubt it would be much of a problem."
"And do not worry young miss. Your friends words do not bother me. I am a bit more difficult to anger than most might be." Valerick smiled and leaned fully against the table. He waved back at Alex as he saw him out of the corner of his eye.

Nuo continued to stand behind her brother as he spoke and she only watched. As Lloyd talked to him, she looked over at Trinity and waved, a big smile on her face. Even now, after all the training to become a guard member and the actual joining, she still acts a bit childish. Whether it is too much or not, she hasn't be told. Either way though, she planned on being as best she could to impress her brother. "I hope that you guys get to stay together. I would hate to see two friends get separated. Brother won't allow me to be taken away from his force." Nuo smiles at the end of her sentence and then once again returns to silence as her brother glares at her ever so slightly. She could almost read his thoughts just by his look. 'This is business. Stay quiet.' She let out a very quiet sigh and then stood at the ready behind him.

((since my other post seemed to be ignored by both posters, this one is now made to match the situation)) "Need a job? Looking for work? Have some experience in weaponry or the magical arts? Then why not join the Guard! Help serve your city and protect Eyris! New recruits are always welcome!” Were the words Alex kept spouting every now and then to the crowd as they mindlessly walked by him, paying no attention to his words. After so many of his calls out to the audience, no one still seemed to have walked over to the booth. Along with that, he was still wondering where Zeiss and Mihira went, but that was just a trivial thought. They are sure to return to the booth eventually.
After a while Alex just gave up and went to the back of the booth to rest his voice and relax a little bit. Once he was in the back he found a chair and sat down. The marksman didn’t want to strain his voice any longer and needed a bit of a break. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back and thought about how other booths seemed to be doing pretty well at getting other people. They were at least getting one or two people looking at their booths. Maybe some people are afraid to join the guard after what’s recently happened. He shrugged to himself. “Can’t really blame people for being scared I guess,” he sighed.
Suddenly, Alex seemed to be hearing voices that seemed closer than normal. He looked around and figured out that the voices seemed to be coming from the front of the booth. "Oh crap, is someone there?" he thought as he stood back up and started walking towards the front of the booth. As he appraoched the front of the booth he heard what Lloyd and Trinity said and asked to Valerick as well as his answer.. As he got closer, the man who was wearing learanian armor spotted him and gave him a little wave. "Finally, assistance!" he cheered in his head as he reached the front.
Now that he was in the front he soon saw that there were four people at the booth. Two seemed to be wearing the armor of the guard and the other two seemed to be interested in this booth. "I apologize for leaving the booth unattended, but I need a bit of a rest." he said as he apologized to the four in the front. "I happened to hear what you guys were saying as I walked up here and as for armor, as this man stated," he said referring to Valerick, "there's probably different types of armor if you are in need of lighter armor. However, you guys will be needed to wear the learanian armor if you guys plan on joining the guard" he stated as he moved his hands to under the booth's table to search for some paper.
"As for keeping you guys together..." he stopped for a moment as he moved his hands back to the top of the table with some papers. "You guys won't be separated from each other when we're not in battle however, but during battle you guys will be separated into group and divisions depending on what skills you guys possess." he stated as he looked at Lloyd and Trinity. "If I heard correctly, you said you special in aerial fighting?" he said as he looked at Trinity. "Does that mean you ride a pegasus or wyvern? Either way, you'll most likely be put together with the same unit and team as other soldiers with your same specialty. And you would probably be part of the ground fighting units during battle," he said now looking at Lloyd.
He didn't like telling people this, but sadly it was true. "But hey, you guys aren't separated all the time, so it's not that bad," he finished as he now held a paper in each of his hands. "So if you guys are interested in joining the guard, please sign these papers" he told both Lloyd and Trinity as he handed them each a sheet of paper.

Amelia watched in silence, hands in her lap. Tibarn was just as much a force of nature in speech as he was when he fought, and there was little left for the General to do. She heaved a quiet sigh as Leon burst out in response to Tibarn, and ended up thoroughly ignored. Amelia put a hand gently on his shoulder and offered him a little smile, not of defeat, but of compromise. "Thank you for the concern, but it's... probably for the best," she told him, voice strangely reserved in the last half of the sentence. She leaned her elbows against the stand - stools didn't exactly have chair backs to recline against, after all - and watched Marina appear, kick Leon's shin around the side of the stand, and overall yell at everyone. The General only sighed, rubbing her hand over her eyes. Oy.
Marina was... interesting. Oh, she was damn good at what she did, yes. Being the Hawk King's messenger-slash-information-runner-slash-all-around-assistant, she was put through the ringer with duties that ranged from gathering intel in other cities or countries, locating and handling pockets of bandits deep in the forest or in the mountainous countryside, and even things as simple as delivering important mail across the city. And she was good at it, being able to uphold a high level of professionalism on the job, and being damn good with that lance of hers. But she was crude, foul-mouthed, and irritable. She swore too much, drank too hard, shouted too often, and more importantly, in Amelia's case, she seemed to reserve some sort of deep-seated grudge against her. The General still had no bloody clue what it was even about, but every time Marina appeared, she always felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She wasn't exactly bad news, but Amelia wasn't about to let her hand get bitten off either way.
Tibarn had barely finished speaking to the lancer, Vah returning to her seat next to Amelia, before the Hawk King approached her again. He towered over her, especially while sitting, and his shadow literally covered her from head to toe, the sun illuminating him from behind. "Let's go somewhere private... Watch house, your office."
Amelia slowly rose to her feet, giving a quiet nod to Leon. She held her arms at her sides, trying to subtly keep pressure against her bandages without flat-out grabbing her wounded side. "Thank you for the concern, Leon. Keep a close eye on Vah. She's rambunctious." She offered the little girl a smile and awkwardly kneeled-slash-bent over in order to kiss her forehead before following the Hawk King away, on the opposite to where Marina was walking.
"Anyway, kind of bothers me that beorc here aren't mentioning laguz to newbies on day one. I haven't the time or the patience to explain it all the time... Weren't you working on a greeting program for new arrivals?"
Amelia pushed her hair away from her eyes, letting out a long breath. "I was. I was working on the details, I had a general script for a presentation, at least, for the orientation of new recruits to the Watch or Guard. I was working on how to integrate it at a civilian level when all of that crap with the siege started, and then there were preparations to make, fortifications to build up, and... now we're here. The paperwork's still on my desk."
She considered briefly the mountainous stacks of paper there, quills and inkwells scattered amongst bills and papers and forms and letters to the families of the deceased. Too many letters to the families of the deceased. "...if I can find it."

Not what you were expecting, was I?
-David-
A tall boy stopped and stared at the city of Eyris, clinging to the reins of his mare, Sophie. Her saddlebags were full; she kept an eye out, not afraid to kick or bite anyone who got too close, since her master was too busy gawking at the city to watch for pickpockets. Since he had been standing there for a while, Sophie nipped gently at his horsetail. David jumped, and reflexively reached for the tie that held the horsetail in place; Sophie had yanked it out on more than one occasion. When he looked at her, she stared right back and gently nudged his shoulder.
"Heh," he said, as much of a laugh as he would ever make. "You're too smart for you're own good, you know that?" he murmured.
Her response was to nudge him again.
"Alright, shall we go, Sophie?" He'd said the same thing fifteen minutes ago and look how far they'd gotten. This time, the horse started walking without waiting for him to move, which he did a moment later. "Hey who's leading who here?"
He tried to smile and relax, but he was so awed by everything, awed and afraid. Nowhere in Adliana was a city this big, and certainly this many people couldn't exist in the whole world, let alone in one place. Really, Sophie was better prepared for it than he; the noise and chaos didn't bother her in the least. David wished he could say the same for himself.
Slowly David and Sophie made their way deeper inside the city; they had been standing just inside the gates. Eventually, they made their way to where all the action was centered; at first, David thought they'd found the market, and then he realized that it was and it wasn't. People were indeed selling their wares (and at the top of their lungs), but others were shouting somethings about jobs and the like. Maybe I can find what I'm looking for here, he thought. Instinctively moving closer to Sophie, he forced himself to keep going. Why must there be so many people? He stared walking down through the stalls, trying to take everything in all at once and not let himself be overwhelmed.
Suddenly a loud SLAP punched through the noise. David froze; above the calls of the stall owner and the loud voices of everyone else, someone's shouting stood out. Not two stalls down, someone was yelling at a man, although neither appeared to be the one who'd just been slapped. The man on the receiving end of the yelling found himself kicked in the shins.
Then the person who'd done the kicking--and probably the slapping and certainly the yelling--turned to face David's direction. His gray eyes opened wide, and he couldn't help it; he panicked, even when the yelling person ran right past him.
Don't get mad, he thought, frantic. Don't get mad, don't get mad, please don't get mad, please don't hit anyone, don't get mad-- Sophie nudged him, whinnying softly, but he was already too far gone. If someone didn't snap him out of it soon, he was going to hyperventilate and pass out. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -Nomadic Shaman-
Don't worry. I've been disappointing people all my life. [T-ta-da! I'm sure I've screwed something up, so please let me know if there's anything I need to change. owo]

((I can make up for lost time later, but right now I want to see if I can get back in the game, 'cause I miss you guys. I haven't done anything here since anniversary '10 endgame prep, so I'm going on stuff I did there.))
Now that Eyris was free to rebuild and recuperate, and a comfortable living situation was at least guaranteed for the time, Tiki was finally free to wander the city at her leisure, while simultaneously getting herself situated in her new surroundings. She had accepted her predicament to a degree, but the occasional doubt still reared its ugly head every now and again. And she didn't sleep very well at night. But she wouldn't tell anyone that.
What better time to get acquainted with the city then to attend the Job Fair? The little green-haired girl, clad in her brown travel cloak to keep warm, ran amongst the people on the streets and darted between booths, seeing what she could see.

Lloyd and Trinity The White Wolf and The Gold Wing Lloyd was impressed with how friendly the two knights were. On some of his contracts when he had to go undercover before an assassination, he had met many a knight who was gruff and angry, even women. These two were friendly and seemed to share a bond that matched his and his brother's. The female knight waved to Trinity and Lloyd saw the male knight give her a look, stifling her enthusiasm. Siblings, no doubt He thought to himself. "I have to say, I am quite impressed and to simply put it, you have us sold. We would be glad to join you. Though I have to say, I hope what your armorer can come up with for me is good. This coat has seen many a battle." He laughed. Lloyd looked at the archer who had told them they might be separated. "I understand. My companion and I have worked apart before. She is somewhat green so I have been training her. I trust that I can still continue training with her?"Trinity was overjoyed. Lloyd said they would join and they would probably work together, also, her armor would only be slightly altered! She waved to the female knight who had shrunk back from her companion's gaze. As Lloyd mentioned his coat, she couldn't help but laugh. Other than the other Reed siblings, Lloyd rarely went without his long coat. Trinity tried to picture Lloyd in something like the knights before them wore and thought he would look dashing in light armor. "Thank you noble knights. Helios and I would be honored to join your ranks." Trinity made a quick bow and even Hwlios nodded his head up and down, mimicking his rider. I edited it so that they acknowledge Alex.))
