The lack of things making sense to the monster horse took its toll. Added to his numerous injuries, Petro decided to stay on the stairs. "Y' all're better'n me at figuring stuff out," he breathed, suddenly sitting down on the steps under the pretense of waiting for them to give orders for him to follow.

During his wandering, Jericho didn't miss the little exchange that went on. He couldn't help but narrow his eyes at Mac. What the hell was his problem here? Perhaps it was just the stress of the situation in general, because he thought the reaper to be a pretty cool guy from what he knew. This showed a bit of an uglier side to him.
Shaking his head to himself, he murmured lowly and kept trying to get on around the stairs.

Riley's comments had him twitching.
"I had no problem with you, right up until you decided to amuse yourself with me." In fact, he had been doing a pretty good job of staying the hell away from her up until then! What was her problem? "I have and had no intentions of 'fighting' you, nor do I have any intention of seeking you out back home. Everything was copasetic between us, until you decided to mock me for something you started." There was a slight pause and a clenched fist; he was trying his best to not just...fly off the handle, but it was easy to tell he was gritting his teeth. "And I would appreciate it if you stopped making assumptions about myself and my Parents." Wasn't making assumptions what she was indirectly accusing him of doing? He did, but that wasn't the point here. Black eyes flickered towards the Doctor, who was, at least to him, trying to look pretty menacing.
Which was easy, considering the beak and the whole blade appendages thing.
"So, the moment you stop going out of your way to antagonizing me is the moment I go back to leaving you the hell alone." Or the moment she'll go back to leaving him the hell alone, whichever, really. His gaze eventually dropped to Lizzy as she clung to his arm and insisted on telling lies (which weren't actually lies of course), and looked away with a frown.

At Rileys question, Astra's antenna began o move about as she thought about it. "I...guess so?" She wasn't really sure about it. She then turned to Lizzy who also pointed out something she hadn't thought before..and it made her slightly nervous, going so far as to try hold onto the edge of the stairs encase she was actually upside down and didn't know it. "I don't know.." she answered truthfully
There was something about the way the ghoul had talked to her...was she imaging it, or was lizzy upset at her for something? She couldn't think of any reason as to why, though.

Riley seemed to listen to Mac's quiet explosion with a calm, and intrigued air. When she felt he was done, she put her hand on Sharra and gently pushed off, with just enough force to float back to Mac with a creepy slowness.
Her eyes, which had previously danced with amusement, were now flat and cold. If things had been different, she would have enjoyed herself more. But not here. Not now.
Let me enlighten you on how you look, right now. You claim that someone you don't even know is giving you such a hard time, just because she won't react to your temper tantrums the way you want them to. I won't begin to try and understand why, because the point I'm trying to make that you're conveniently missing in your drive to get me on your bad side, is that it doesn't matter. None of this matters. Do you understand, little boil? Anything you say, anything I say, none of it matters. All that matters is getting out of here alive.
She had come up to face him, and was now eye to eye with the boil. She was legitimately angry at his temper tantrum - and it was not a sight someone wanted to see.
You're spending all your energy getting worked up over someone you've only just met. Instead of trying to use that energy the way everyone else here is doing - productively working together to try to solve this puzzle, so we can get out of here safely. Why does your own bruised ego come before your own safety? Or Lizzy's, for that matter? Her eyes turned up to look at Lizzy for a moment, before shaking her head. I'm here to save my friends. Why are you here, Mac? To pick fights with someone you don't even know, just because they touched you?
She shook her head, just a little disgusted at his behavior. She couldn't really be mad.. the fog had toyed with everyone's common sense. You need to see past your anger and come to terms that we're working together. It doesn't matter if you think you're right or wrong, if you're dead.

[<33 HUNI, WERE YOU UP THIS MORNING? ;o; SORRY I OVERSLEPT. And how was dentist? 8<]
"Well, I can't figure out how that guy is doing this," She looked at Petro with a sheepish smile, "Or if he - or she - is even the cause of this..."
She turned her attention to Astra, seeing how nervous she was... Great, now she felt guilty for scaring Astra, even if it was a perfectly legitimate fear, seeing how she really can't tell up from down or down from up. A frown followed as she shook her head, "Well, you have wings - you'll probably be alright as long as you stay alert..."
That brought her attention to something else.
"You know, if we really are upside down, I doubt Charlie can carry both of our weight with his wings when we fall," She tugged gently on Mac's arm to get his attention, trying to change the subject, although she wasn't sure how effective it would be. This was followed by a pause as she raised an eye brow at him, "...You have already determined that any injury caused by us floating is all my fault, haven't you?"
At Riley's approach, she frowned slightly, but otherwise did nothing, although her grip on Mac's arm had tightened. If anything, she knew that Riley was the more reliable - and level headed - of the two.

Arachne tilted her head, listening as the conversation from the floating group seemed to go up a notch, or get more heated. She moved to the edge of the set of stairs she was on, and peered over. At first she couldn't see them but then she realised she was inverted to them and she looked up, seeing the bobbing students.
'These stairs are giving me a headache.' she said, looking at the sets she could see, hoping to spy Sepheran on them, as she continued to climb.

Mac was torn between being absolutely terrified and completely offended. There she was, chewing him out, telling him that he wasn't helping, that basically he was endangering the whole group...because she pissed him off?
Really?
He had fought alongside everyone else.
He had found Charlie lost in the fog.
He had carried Lizzy around when she passed out or was too weak to do it herself.
He had helped a few of their group get back to the group.
He had used his already injured arm to pry open that rusted wheel to get his group out unscathed.
He had offered several suggestions or theories on the going-ons.
He had been minding his own business before now.
And there she was, accusing him of putting lives in danger? Where the hell did she get off, telling him this? Was she completely blind to everything he had done since their little group came together? He pressed his lips into a thin line, his black eyes darkening. They had all been right, of course; most Demons were like this one. He had gotten soft in starting to think they were like Lizzy or Charlie.
He wouldn't make that mistake again.
So, in a thin and even voice, he responded.
"Yes, I did get mad at you for touching me, but you should know that some people do not like to be touched." And subsequently mocked for it. A little consideration and less button-pressing could have saved this, on both sides.
"And I'm sorry you failed to notice that I have, in fact, been looking out for my friends." He did his best to slip his arm from Lizzy's grasp, suddenly not wanting to even touch her by proxy.
"Or that I have actually been helping with trying to solve this puzzle right alongside the rest of you." There was a slight pause, and he was doing his best to not be a coward and run from this - he was sure he was, at least somewhat, in the right.
"I am here to get out alive, with my friends, like the rest of you." His gaze did go towards Lizzy and Charlie, and briefly to the rest of the group. "That has, and will not ever change. no matter that little inconveniences happen in the meantime."

Mac's voice no longer sounded to her like a scareling who wasn't getting his way. It sounded like a confident, and capable, boil. Her cold eyes warmed at the sight, crescenting slightly in lieu of a smile.
Good. Your first step to helping your friends, and maybe even me, is to let that ball of anger in the pit of your stomach go. You'll get ulcers before your time. She twitched her hand up, ready to offer him a shake, but thought better of it. He did, after all, just mention that he didn't like to be touched. She wanted to call bullshit on that of course - she was well aware of how much Lizzy had been hanging off of him like some kind of drapery. She, however, would be keeping her hands to herself from now on when it came to Mac. His bold choice of words had earned that much respect from her, at least.
You know something, Mac. She murmured quietly, with a touch of amusement in her voice. I don't think we've ever actually been formally introduced. Perhaps the first step in our joint effort to save all of our lives would actually be to rectify that.
She bowed her head, quite formally. I'm Riley. It's .. she paused at her normal greeting, finding difficulty in using the word pleasure. I hope to find our next meeting to be under less duress. Perhaps then we will see a different side of one another.
She had no real way to move from her position without using Mac, and looked extremely apologetic as she did so. Forgive me, but I promise this will be the last time I touch you. She pressed her hand to his arm, and pushed herself back to Sharra. When her back touched his chest, she turned to look at Malodore - was that tension she saw in it's frame? Oh, sweet Malodore.

Stage 2 results Running up, down, or just floating about in the air, this situation was the definition of futility lightened only by the curiosity and investigation attempts of the group. As with the fog, time seemed to be moving a bit differently within the tower. It may have been hours, or perhaps only a few minutes since they entered, but eventually a clear crisp voice asked, "Do you still refuse to kneel?" And suddenly those floating in the air found themselves flying, up-up-up and straight into a hard surface. The ceiling? Those running up the stairs were abruptly stumbling over the top step (and each other) just in time to see gravity once more come into effect. It seems falling was a pretty common ailment here, and considering how high up they were now, this was a fairly unfortunate trend. - stairs: the pile up at the top caused a number of sore and bruised limbs costing 1 hp - float: hitting the ceiling and then the floor? Had to hurt, and it cost you 3 hp - no choice -4 hp Stage 3 start The hooded figure before you looks distinctly unapologetic. "Both determined and relatively in one piece. The team work makes an excellent bonus as well. Congratulations, I can make use of you."

"We aren't here for you to make use of," Malodore spat from the floor, where it had been unceremoniously tumbled tail-over-hooves. Still, it managed to look at least a little bit menacing. It hoped.

The continuation of the little confrontation was something the dragon wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Both were pretty strong headed and confident for sure.
Still moving on about, Jericho was not expecting the ground beneath him to suddenly shift like that. Stumbling over, he had a bit of a spill, but it wasn't anything big. The thuds he heard all around told him that the students floating around weren't quite as fortunate in regards to that.
Cringing as he saw some of them bounce about, the dragon dusted himself off and realized he was right around where the cloaked one was. Narrowing his eyes, he brandished his the weapon he had been using for this excursion, feeling the spark of anger return to him now that they weren't wandering or floating aimlessly.
"Use us?" he growled lowly.
The words spoken didn't make him any happier either. This one wouldn't be making use of any of them if he could help it!

While Lizzy had a good point in that Astra was able to fly, it did nothing to easy the fairy's fears. Antenna dropping, she looked away from lizzy, feeling rather weak as she said to her. "I..don't think i can fly very far at the moment. And...even if I could, I'm sure they would be able to hunt me down quite easily" they being the fear draining reapers.
She sat there as Mac and Riley were having their verbal dispute, and that made her feel even worse. Everyone else had been able to be of assistance in some way, but so far she had not done a thing except try her best to keep up and not faint in fear at another student, whom everyone but her seemed to revere and admire.
And then, a voice rang out clearly throughout the stairway, and seemed somehow went back into order. With disastrous results.
"GUYS!" Astra found a sudden boost of energy as she saw them rise up to the roof, jumping over each step in order to try and reach them. However in her rust to reach them she had failed to notice the other students, and ended up bumping into jericho sending her backwards down the steps.
"Oww...." she mumbled, rubbing her head and also hearing a loud 'thump" signalling that she had been right in her thoughts - that the zero gravity wasn't going to last long. Looking up she froze upon seeing jericho in front of her, but thankfully he was to busy standing up to the reaper. She crept away from him, and then looked over the edge again trying to spot the others who were floating. "Guys?" she called out, not knowing if they were okay or not.

Riley had all but forgotten that they were being watched. In fact, at some point she had assumed that the familiar figure was actually just part of the illusion. When she heard his voice cut through the moment of silence, her body stilled and her breathing came to a slow stop.
She remembered the first time he'd asked her to kneel. She remembered what came next.
Her hands gripped around Sharra just in time as gravity returned to their little excursion in mid-air. Her stomach felt like it wanted to leap from her throat as they fell, landing very painfully on what she assumed was the bottom.
She assumed wrong.
Once more they went flying, and this time she couldn't help but scream as they dove down to find a whole new ground to impact upon. She felt her shoulder pop, and cringed her entire body as the pain surged through her. A low groan left her thoughts, as her eyes rolled back behind her head.
She tried to move, but the pain in her shoulder kept her at bay. She heard a cry, and looked up to see if she could place it - but soon realized it had been her who'd let it out when she tried to get up with a dislocated shoulder. So instead, she lay there quietly, trying to catch her breath while the hooded figure spoke. His words gave depth her deepest and darkest suspicions.
He sounded like he was recruiting.
Her good arm moved to wrap around the dislocated shoulder, holding it in place while she tried to roll to a seated position. She had nothing to say to him yet - she had a shoulder to pop back into place. That took priority over him, for the moment.

She didn't exactly see it coming, but as they flew upwards, she found herself holding onto the arms of the two boils extra tightly on instinct - and then when they fell, she let go; she figured it would stop them from hurting each other at least. Probably. She really hoped Charlie's wings would stop him from crashing at least...
Nope, it didn't work.
As they dropped to the floor, Mac went first, followed by Lizzy dropping on top of him, and then Charlie on top of Lizzy, forming a perfect sandwich. If not for the fact that it really, really hurt - judging by the yelps of pain from the demoness - the sight would be rather amusing. Of course, it was still less painful than being flung out of a building via an explosion, and she found herself rolling Charlie off her before rolling off Mac Puppy just as quickly.
"Ughh... Mac? Mac, you okay?" She sat down beside him, shaking his arm, trying to get him to get up. Pausing, she then turned to Charlie, propping him up and giving him a hug despite how disgusting his clothing was from the basement incident; the demon had landed on both her and Mac. Double cushion. He couldn't be that hurt, right? Her attention soon went back to the Reaper next to her as she shook his arm again, "... Mac?"
Looking up at the hooded figure, she scowled, eyes narrowing in anger - she probably didn't look very threatening at all, considering she was still holding (the smelly) Charlie in a hug, but her tone was firm as she spoke, "I'm glad you're not another mute... And just try us."
