Well, that tentacle was obviously a no-go. Frowning slightly, the lightning dragon headed for the front of the ship where the squid was still (mostly) attached. Maybe the main body would be easier to get ink out of.

It would help if any of the students knew how squids were PUT TOGETHER of course, but none of that was covered in classes. I mean, why the hell would they need to know the anatomy of giant sea monsters?

That didn't work at all, Rain thought to herself, pulling the inkinator back out. Was she too forceful or not forceful enough? How deep was this "ink"?

She frowned when Sin had succeeded in attaining the ink. Should she ask the demoness for advice? Perhaps there some trick to it that she was not aware of? Grumbling to herself, she took a couple steps down from her previous hole and stared intently at the body.

You will give me ink. You will give me ink. You will give me ink. You will give me ink.

She was channeling the powers of the great zombie priestess, Chimbakatoowa. So what if it was a fictional character from a story she had created as a young zombie. If you believed in something hard enough.. anything was possible!

[Success and I wanted to add that I fill out my posts while rolling so the only thing edited in is what is in this bracket. Channeling Chimbakatoowa really works!]

If Aksaja thought he would escape Israfel and awkward he was dead wrong. The Siren was like a walking ball of awkward with wings and was prone to showing it. Later on, the siren had already formed plans to give the dragon boil a hug. Why? Because swimming or not boats were death traps and he liked that someone like Aksaja would come to his aid. Without meaning to, the dragon had sealed his fate. He'd made a friend. A friend of one skittish siren. Who was currently poking the squid arm like a timid mouse.

"Trick or.." Blue eyes didn't focus on the arm, more on Cloak. "I like the second half of that title. Less..threatening." Most tricks he could recall ended up with him in pain, shock, or covered in something. Usually seagull poop. Another reason he hated them. Another reason he wanted to someday fly. So he could catch them and get them back for all those times they had stolen the fish right out of his hand when he'd been a hatchling.

Jack he hated sea rats.

Rain couldn't believe her luck! Chimbakatoowa had been with her in fictional spirit as she had succeeded in acquiring the ink! She would never again doubt the power of believing. She ran excitedly to hand it over to Cloak before grabbing another "inkinator". She was Rain Rottingham, the inktastic inker of inkalacious inkdom. She was ready to ink this squid dry!

She turned and twitched at the squid in silent challenge, bringing her mouth up in a mocking sneer. She took three big steps away from it before turning to point the tool at him. "Ptchaaaaaw", she cried out, in an attempt to imitate the sound of the bullet. It really sounded more like a cry of a bird than a bullet but hey, she wasn't trying to win a drama award. She ran towards the squid and stabbed it where she had been aiming.

She was having entirely too much fun with this. She had even managed to forget the fact that she was still on a boat.

Israfel was still poking at his part of the arm rather timidly. He knew from past expeciences at home that squid arms could still wiggle about and hurt. Or just wiggle and feel weird when you tried to eat them. Or attach to your face and leave annoying imprints. Of the three experiences, none of which he cared to repeat, Israfel was just content to poke the arm.

Until the student body president started making bird noises. Prompting a coo and chirp reply. "I wasn't aware you spoke avian. Most undead...don't."

She had just dropped the second ink filled object to Cloak when the pretty boil spoke to her. She had seen him often around the school. Israfel was his name, though she couldn't remember if they had formally met. He was one of the prettiest students. Hadn't he been nominated at the Scarentine Party for such a thing? She had also been told on groanspring that he had the best hair in the entire school as well as one of the best fashion senses. He was really out of her league and she was shocked that he even noticed her.

"I spoke...what? What did I say?" Oh goodness, what if she had said something mean! Would all the seagulls and other nefarious flying creatures swoop down on her now? Pigeons were the worst but surely they were too far out for them. Ever pecking, ever hungry, ever pooing.

The last thing she wanted was to be carted off to some distant island inhabited by carnivorous undead eating creatures? Or a pack of humans with shotguns. Maybe if Chimbakatoowa was still with her, she could will the island to be full of half naked boils or Shine clones. That wouldn't be too bad at all.

"How many languages do you speak?," she asked Israfel while bending down to grab another inkinator. She wasn't paying as much attention with this one as she had the last two and randomly poked it in the body of the giant squid. She really didn't like the body. It felt.. squishy.. or sticky or a mix of both. It was really weird.

Iarwings flapped as his head nodded, hand still timidly poking the arm with the needle. "It was kinda of clunkly. Like you had a word but were too excited to say it right. It sounded like 'Mine'. But, that might have been them." Looking over his shoulder, a seagull was on the rail of the ship, watching them. Watching waiting to come down and steal scraps. Out of childhood instinct, Israfel puffed his feathers and cawed. A clear cry to back off. This was his..part of squid arm! His! The gull cawed back and a few caw exchanges later, Feathers fell back into place before the siren adressed Rain again.
"Or you might have said spinach. Avian is pretty heavy with the accents." Poke poke on the arm. Oh man this was gross. "Um, as for how man I speak, I speak english but avian isn't really a formal language. It's more like...a bunch of sounds with universal meanings. Most birds have common sounds but some...are special. Like a siren song. It sounds like human language, but the meanings we might send could be very different." He paused. "Maybe you have something like that with how the undead communicate? I never understand those moans you guys make."

Her gaze followed his own and she froze when she caught the seagull. Had thinking about it.. summoned it? She really needed to clear her head! She was ready to try to find a rock to throw it at the bird when the boil started to speak to it in some birdy language. It was a good thing too because she really didn't know how or where she'd find a rock on a boat.

"I make no claims on the giant squid and I am not fond of spinach. I will avoid making any other sounds that could be mistaken for avian." She pulled out the inkinator, disappointed that there was no ink in it that time. She dropped it a few inches lower before sticking it back inside the squid and trying again.

"I never really thought about it before. Zombie moans do have meaning. It never occurred to me that not everyone could understand them or that it counted as its own language but you're right. For example, ArghArghArghArghSSSSttttaaaarghhh means 'Ah Ah Ah Ah! Staying Alive!' and SSSSrrrraaagghhrrrrRR means 'Shark!' but I hope I never have to say the latter in any language." She really didn't like groaning or moaning though. You couldn't say anything in zombie that didn't sound so sad. She could moan out that it was a very lovely day and she was having a great time and it would still come off sounding like your dog died.

[Fail. Zombie moans were grabbed out of a random zombie book I had nearby. >.> Also, bedtime. ]

The moans and groans had earwings flexing and flicking about. They sounded just like typical undead sounds. But he could pick up the fact it was a string of various ones placed in a sort of order. What that order was, he had no idea. Out of both fear of cursing and saying something stupid, he didn't even try to replicate the words. "Oh sharks aren't that bad. Some eat seagulls you know. And when your cousin give you the gross fish bits they're rather nice and eat them. Sort of like dogs hiding under the table waiting for scraps you want. Just unlike sea rats they don't steal, they're classy."
Poke poke. "Sharks are gentlemen of the sea. Polite, but prone to fit of hunger and rage. Just like any boil."

Closer to the front of the boat, Aksaja could still hear the two of them talking - about languages of all things - and he shook his head slightly, wandering back over toward them. It seemed like the zombie ghoul . . . Rain, her name was? . . . was having some luck with that tentacle of hers, so he picked one kinda close to the two of them.

"I hope I never have to yell 'shark' in any language really," he murmured, with a bit of a shudder. "Where I come from, there isn't even a word for such things as . . . this," he jabbed the needle into the tentacle. "Or sharks or anything like that. No ocean nearby."

Viveca had been happily chatting with Alcie and Sin, as well as listening to Aksaja and another boil, unfamiliar to her, talk about what the school might have planned for them at the end of the boat ride. She really hoped they were wrong.

She still hoped to be able to talk to the pretty girl who had shredded her dress earlier, but before she could open her mouth, Cloak appeared again. The demon ghoul huffed. What noooow? She loved getting her hands dirty and all, but really. This was just going overboard (hah!), and it was starting to feel something like child labor now...

Shrugging, seeing that everyone else seemed to be falling in, she picked up one of the needle-vial guns (there sure where a lot of 'gun' like objects on this ship!)

Perhaps more aggressively than necessary, she jabbed the needle into the eye of the squid. Hey, there could be ink in there! That...and she just wanted to poke the thing's eye out, after all that trouble!

Not surprisingly, no ink came out in her vial.

Ah well.

Wow, Israfel really knew a lot about sharks. She always considered them to be cold creatures, eating and destroying everything in their path. The way he made them sound, she almost wanted one as a pet. Almost. "I guess there's a lot that I don't know," she admitted, taking the inkinator out and plunging it back into the body, a few more inches away. "Gentleman of the sea. I do like the sound of that." She would have to write a story about a noble shark fighting for the honor of a jellyfish princess.

When Aksaja joined their conversation, Rain couldn't help but nod in agreement. "It's similar for me. No ocean, no water, but I have heard horrifying tales of many undead lost at sea, so I know of some creatures that exist but I have never actually seen any of them. Even this," she paused to poke at the giant squid, "is new to me. I didn't know that they were this big. I can't even stand being on this boat. It's makes me feel.. uneasy." That seemed the appropriate word. She wasn't afraid per se, she simply felt a sense of foreboding. Like she didn't belong. She really wanted to get back to the land but what she wanted more was to be a good student so she must do what she does best.. persevere.

Aksaja couldn't even really imagine what this must be like for those who didn't have . . . let's say an alternate means of escape. Flying, for example. I mean sure, Israfel had wings but Aksaja had never seen the Siren fly, ever, so he had to assume the other wasn't able to for some reason. Maybe because said wings were pretty small, compared to his body size. Decorative only? Or would they get bigger?

"I just hope there aren't any more ninjas or giant . . . monster dragons at the end of this ride," he muttered, shaking his head as visions of the Death Charm that had burned him to a crisp before intruded upon his thoughts. This time, if there was a path the staff warned them away from, he was DAMNED well staying off of it.

Picking another tentacle to stab at, the lightning dragon made a low sound of triumph when ink squirted out into his vial. Yes! One down.

Encouraged, Aksaja stabbed at the same tentacle again, hoping for more ink . . .

But it seemed that one was all out. "Stupid squid," he muttered, kicking at it as he got up to try somewhere else.
