"That'll be fine."
She glanced at the statue. "He'll be sad, passive, or maybe just quiet. Promises to be subdued, though.
The brother would be happy, energetic, friendly... all of that," she explained, pointing to the other little statue.

Kyt approached the steps of the house. The address and description (the latter from a friend) matched sufficiently. Only problem now was making her prescence known. She took a deep breath, put a calm smile on her face, and knocked a few times on the door. One part of her hoped that this 'Aubri' person was here, and the other part hoped she wasn't. We'll just wait and see, she thought.

Knock.
"Excuse me, gentlemen," Aubri muttered, standing up and walking to the door. She opened it. "So, you're the last one, hm? At least you actually decided to come. Come in, come in. Kytora, yes? You spoke to my daughter on the phone. I'm afraid you won't have much a choice when it comes to what Dumyr you get. There's only one left."
She pointed to the couch. "I'm sure you can fit in, you're tiny enough. Now." She picked up a rather menacing looking statue with black and white beads. "This is yours. You're stuck with a rather monochromatic, mischief-prone talking cat. With wings." Aubri tossed the statue to her.
"Like I've already told these two here, you have the option of allowing them to take on an apprenticeship. Completely up to you. If you do, you might never get to see her, but..." A shrug.
"Anyway. Make a decision. And here's a journal to record her progress, once she gets here - which will be fairly soon. Names and addresses of other foster parents are in the back, though, from what I understand, you already know one? Reeshie?
"Hurry up, though - I have a lecture in..." She glanced at a clock. "Forty-five minutes. At this rate, I'll be late."
And then... the whirlwind stopped. Kyt was finally given a chance to speak.

Kyt jumped in surprise at the door's sudden opening and this woman's words. She could barely understand what she was being told, and caught the statue in the nick of time before it could clatter to the floor. She also continued to stand, not wanting to intrude on the two men on the couch.
"I see. My apologies for my timing, Miss Aubri. And yes, Reeshie is a friend of mine, the one who insisted I come to try for a statue." She fingered the pendant in her hands. The journal she had been tossed was a cheery pink; the irony of it made Kyt grin.
"I do see. Thank you, Miss Aubri. I don't want to waste your time, so I shall take my leave now. It was nice meeting you." Kyt edged toward the door, hoping for a clean escape from another eruption of instructions.

"Come back in a few days!" she said, rather loudly. "She'll be here then."
Then she looked at Nash and Far. "That goes for you two, as well."
Back to Kyt. "You'll need to come by fairly regularly. Please be on time from now on? I'm working two jobs and running two other things. So, I'd appreciate it if I didn't have to wait for you to show up. Before you go, do ask any questions. If only to preclude being called in the middle of the night.
"And I'm taking it that you're not going to let your little bundle of joy possibly become an apprentice?

Kyt nodded. "Mmhmm. And no, not yet, I think, will she be an apprentice. If possible, perhaps later. But not now." She stuffed the pink journal into her sholder bag, keeping the pendant in her hands. "How should we...place the necklaces? Not store, rather, but should we wear them all the time?"

"It doesn't matter." Aubri shrugged. "It's just a sort of "promise"... and a hint at what she'll be like. That's all. Nothing magical or special.
"For your future knowledge - you'll be footing the bill of sending her over, unless you time it just right and I'm going over there myself."

Blink. "Heading over? Nevermind, I'll figure it out." She glanced at the clock. "You're going to be late. We'll leave now, won't we gentlemen?"
Kyt moved toward the door, hesitating to open it. "I'm sure if we have any questions, we'll call at a suitable time. But I think that if you miss this lecture, you won't have time to answer them," she grinned.

The journal he'd picked up was a soft golden yellow and he just held onto it, watching as Aubri greeted the latecomer and then more or less shuffled her out the door. "Guess that's our cue, hm?" he mumbled, scooping up the remaining statue and getting up.
He waited a moment for Far, then also headed for the door. He still didn't see particularly -happy- about this, but he'd agreed to it now and he would stick to that.

He nodded, smiling, "Yeah, s'pose so." He trailed after Nash, gazing almost adoringly at the little statue, fingering the beads and trailing them gently through his fingers. "I think this'll be nice. I always enjoyed my siblings when they were little...this'll probably be a little like that."

"Thank you for showing up and making my life that much easier," she said, trying to sound pleasant as she herded them out the door. "Remember, come back in a few days! Make friends! Or something."
Closing the door, she leaned against it and sighed. Looking at the wall, trying to ignore her budding headache, she saw... a clear spot. Not that her walls were really all that covered, but...
Time to go make a poster. Well, after the lecture, that is.

Trin knocked on the door three times, Laima looking pretty miserable beside her. Her nose was red and swollen, and she carried a box of Kleenex with her. Her "allergies" seemed to have gotten worse in the past few days, and Trin was getting worried. Seeing no reason to delay it further, Trin had made up her mind to come see Aubri, though Laima insisted she was "just fine."
Today, Laima had the chills, though it was in the pleasant mid-70s. Trin, concerned for Laima's weel being, decided to rush on over-- and not call ahead. So, ther ethey stod, Laima with a scarf around her neck and a pitiful "help meeee" expression.

Aubri yawned, peeling herself off of her desk and toddling towards the door. She'd had a late night the night before... and it showed.
Getting to the door, she opened it, with a bitter, mean greeting on her lips. And promptly stumbled back a few steps, eyes wide. "She... she... grew!?" It had been the first time she'd seen Laima since she changed, and... well... it was very surprising, to say the least.

Trin smiled, glancing over at Laima. "Yeah-- and quickly, too! But, uh, she seems to have a bit of a problem. She has allergies or a cold or something, and it's not going away. We were hoping you could help...?"

Aubri motioned them in, running a hand through her mussed and frizzy hair. "Take a seat. I don't know if I can do anything, though. No idea if human allergy medicine will work for 'em."
She looked at Laima, clearly interested. "... so... how did you actually grow up? I mean, I can imagine Uluen to Ellundel to Thuseris, but..."
