"Damn right" he replied. It wasn't just ODSTs that deserved credit. It was marines and pilots to. It wasn't easy running a war by yourself for several years and then having that all taken away form you, then given back without warning. It was very mystifying. "Of course back in my world..there are no more Spartans..at least none able to aide in the war." he said with slight growl in his voice. It probably bothered him more that there was nothing he could do about it either.
"You have a crush on the Master Chief? Boy your a foolish" he commented, shaking his head and giving her a look of shame. "Can't say I have met the b*****d...he was off world too much while I was defending Earth during his 'reign'" he made sure to exaggerate the word. As much as it wasn't a moment of ruling, it was still pretty close since at the time he got all the top missions and managed to solve them all. Incredible yes....but why he couldn't share was beyond Dutch

"No more?" Now she was curious, as she sat down on the edge of the bed while putting the cup away back in the basket. Turning around she faced him as he had his back against the wall. "Why is that?" There were many reasons she could think of, but neither of the options were very appealing in her mind.
"Had....and it wasn't the Master Chief, per say. Just....the kind of image he makes. Someone strong, formidable, fearless, loyal, serious....they were ideals I liked but never found in my peers. Like John would give time to anyone other than Cortana, from what I heard." She mused and rested her head on her hand, which in turn rested her elbow on her crossed leg.
"Is that why you you were on the ship when possibly you went into that wormhole, since he was gone you were deployed to space?" She raised a brow, or was it just a mission to be on earth at the time.

"Yes, No more. Spartan 1s were wiped out, Spartan 2s did fine, but the Covenant proved too strong still, and Spartan 3s....well..needless to say they didn't last long either." he explained kind of on edge now that she was intently listening. Since when did he become this interesting to her?
"Pft..I'm most of those things. Hell..MOST Marines are. Only reason why John got all the credit was because he was a Spartan" he said shaking his head and crossing his arms. All UNSC military were trained to be a force. That's just how it worked in his day.
"Me? I was on a ship doing patrols. We were supposed to be in Cryosleep, but the Captain went bonkers and drove us all into a black hole. Myself and the Captain were the only ones awake..." he trailed off recalling the day when he had suddenly awoken from his slumber and forced into his gear. He could only wonder then if he had tried to wake up his team would they have been here with him......he could only wonder

"So....All but the Spartan 2 program soldiers were wiped out by covenant?" How saddening, it had to make her think that while it was nice not to have her father out in the wars of old and distant....there was still a part of her that longed to experience no matter how impossible.
Yet when he spoke up again, the vixen was all but prepared as her cheeks turned scarlet, quickly looking to the other side of the room to hope that the dim of the cave would hide this sudden heated rush across her cheeks. Of course she was aware, she had at least discovered that much. However she didn't like how it made her look, even if he didn't clue on. "Well....a-again. Lack of anything but spartan chronicles makes it hard to know much about the other soldiers."
Nodding her head slowly, she decided to leave it at that....it still seemed to be a fresh wound as his voice trailed. She was curious; but not to the point where she'd keep lingering on it to upset him.

"All the same. Most Spartan 2s were lost anyway. Side a few with the director of the program and 117...And of course your father and his team. I don't know how they made it back...or made it here...but....Yeeshh..he's way back in the day." he remarked, making him wonder on how old Nariko really was, but he could help but get a devious grin on his face when he caught her blush.
"AH HA!!" he smirked as he leaned on his crossed legs with his smug smile. "Looks like I still got it" he chuckled as he couldn't help but laugh at the vixen's blush

"Mhhnn..." She breathed, how crazy was it that so many of her father's fellow soldiers were lost like that....it gave her a real appreciation for whatever he'd done to avoid those odds. Well, she wouldn't have been here then if he hadn't; plain and simple. However she couldn't help the small laugh as she nodded his head, sometimes it was hard for her to imagine the difference, since true blood foxes of this time aged so different than these...well, imported kinds. "He's got many years on my mother, he almost puts cradle robbers to shame." She grinned, flicking her tail. "Although, I guess from seeing them age is really irrelevant with a love like that."
However, that good feeling quickly vanished as her tail bristled, her cheeks a similar colour to her armor back at the house; thank goodness she decided not to put it on. "Shut up!" She huffed, making a grimace with her face when it was turned away. "Like I was saying, its the ideal....of it." She should have listened....instead of facing yet another embarrassing situation. It was starting to happen way too much for her liking.

He nodded, and stood from the bed, and walked over to the suit of armor he had put all in one spot. Carefully he started putting each piece on after inspecting it thoroughly. "Well I've heard love is timeless." he said nodding his head, not even entirely sure as to what he means by his own words, but, he wasn't one to judge
He snirked a bit and put that smug look on his muzzle once again before putting on his helmet and commanding the visor to go opaque. "Bah...ideal never happens." he said shaking his head and crossing his arms, now fully armored. He wanted to get her out now...or at least travel around the island for a day or two just to mix things up

...Love is timeless. Nariko thought, the more she dwelled on it the more she began to like it. "It really is..." She wouldn't know, but being so close to what she could clearly see as such was enough. Lifting herself from the bed, she headed to the start of the tunnel and stood for a few moments; looking out towards the outside world. To think...such beautiful words came from, well, Dutch.
Turning her head back to look at the male, she was not pleased to see that look on his face again. Smug b*****d... Then again....she suppose she'd call him a pansy if he wasn't smug and hard headed. "Why do you think i've stopped looking?" She shot a smirk right back and with a flick of her tail made her way out to the meadow opening beyond the bush and tunnel; taking in the smells and the warm sun of the day.
Looking around the vixen wondered what she should do for the rest of the afternoon, tapping her chin lightly.

She seemingly took his words to heart as she too got from the bed, lost in thought. What on earth is going through her head he wondered raising an eyebrow as she walked out, of course, leaving a comment for him to think about as well. One that he couldn't let go. so he followed her to the meadow, putting an arm around her shoulders. "Don't you say that. Good old Taylor will find you someone!" he mused as he quickly jumped away knowing the beating that would ensue had he stayed close for too long.
"There's a glove for every hand" he said again nodding wisely. It occurred to him that he was giving a lot of wisdom to day. He could only wonder if that was just him being stupid or the berries he ate the night before

Flicking an ear back she heard the footfalls of Dutch following her out the tunnel, but she never paid any mind to it as she kept dwelling till she heard what he was planning to do. That is....till he suddenly got close and she found an arm around her shoulders; immediately her eyes widening as she tensed. Snapping him a look somewhere between 'WTF' and pure confusion, her face once more turned that vibrant cherry. "W-W-What the hell, Dutch!" She stammered after he jumped away, obviously flustered beyond words or retaliation at this point; until something hit her. ".....Taylor?" Did he just tell her his name?
Not even moments later, she was hit by an even bigger force as her mind immediately brought up the memory of her father saying those exact same words before. It was then, that her heart thudded quite loudly in her hears that she thought even he could hear it. Dumbfounded as she stared at him as if he grew a sangheili second head.....and really looked at him....well, she realized something she really, really didn't want to.
When did I.....fall for him? Bristling at the thought she turned on her heels to look away, putting a paw over her mouth. Maybe.....it was still a drug induced dream, a really....realistic dream. From the drugs. That could be it.

He was expecting a failed punch attempt...a smart mouth comment...SOMETHING...But he got a very unusual reaction. Well...usual for most girls, but not for her. It made Dutch wonder what she was thinking behind that bright red face....wait...she was blushing...What on earth WAS she thinking?
He got a bit paranoid as he could swear he was under a magnifying glass now. He looked around a little bit, even behind him to see if there was like a bear ready to maul him, but it must have been him.
The she turned on her heels. Even with his helmet on, his confusion was visible. With head tilted and one ear lowered, he wondered what he did wrong now. Completely oblivious to her thought her hidden expression.

Raising her paw, she gave a jab with her finger to her tender stitched wound and flinched. No....no she wasn't sleeping. Turning her head slightly to glance back at the very silent and confused male behind her, the vixen slumped her shoulders and sighed.
"Dut.....Taylor....tell me..." Nariko spoke out on tones lacking that strength she usually held, turning around to face him. She wasn't sure what she was wanting to hear, but it was something as strong as this new feeling she knew she just couldn't shake without knowing. "When I told you about my ideals...and you said you and most marines were the exact epitome of each of them....is that what attracted you to your wife?" She did remember that she was a Marine, and it had been a thought which had been gnawing at the back of her mind when she'd heard it.
Folding her ears back lightly, she didn't feel all too right bringing her up again from the last time she spoke of her to him....but it was something she desperately needed to know since she doubted he would speak of her otherwise.

Confused at her actions, but surprised that she caught his name, he nodded at her asking a question...seemed to be a lot of his answering questions today, but he couldn't be prepared at all for the question she asked.
"Uuuhhhhhhh......" he swore his brain just shut off in realizing what she asked as not only was it hard to answer to begin with, but...he didn't even know if he had an answer. "Um....well...uh..." he tried to compose himself, knowing there had to be something, but asking him that was asking a fish why it swims..it just does.
"uuummmm...well..I think..uh..I..Don't...have an answer...it just kind of...happened with her" he stuttered finally managing to think of something reasonable. It could have been her personality, it could have been that she was a military woman, it could have been that he was just a young horny ODST...he wasn't sure. He just knew something about his past wife clicked...hard to explain it further than that

It might have brought her great pleasure to see him squirm as he had made her do, bit that smug grin refused to surface. She remained stoic, intent on trying to read him the best she could....Nariko didn't want to miss a thing.
Yet as he finally got through his stammering enough to get a point across; the sinking feeling she got told her all she needed, and supposedly wanted to know. Nariko took 'just happened' as clicked, much like her parents and realized beyond anything...that was something she definitely didn't have. Hell, if she couldn't 'click' with her own twin brother well....talk about a hope in hell. Forcing a smile on her face which to her credit did look legit, she nodded her head and turned once more. "Thanks...that's all I needed to know."
Waving a paw, Nariko began to head back to the path; now that it was daytime she was more familiar with the woods and knew how to get back to her house unlike her night trek here.

Watching her scrutinizing face, he still wished he could figure out what she was thinking. Again that feeling of being under a magnifying glass came back, but it left just as quickly as she waved a paw and just gave him a nothing comment. It puzzled him more than anything about this question and he had to know what brought it up. He could tell by her gaze to the path that he had to say something fast or else not knowing would eat him alive.
"What makes you ask?" he said sincerely with a head tilt to add to confusion
