Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart.
If her reaction had been how it had been, she could not imagine what Hrothbert's would be.

Kaok didn't quite know how to phrase it delicately.

Remus managed to stand up. He walked over and placed his hands on Kaok's shoulders. He knew Hrothbert wasn't going to be happy no matter how they worded it.
"Hrothbert, you're not going to like what I'm about to tell you." Remus paused to let Hrothbert prepare for it. "But I believe that whatever this is, it's attempting to make Emma pregnant by force. For whatever reason that may be, I cannot imagine."

The boat came to a screeching halt as the surrounding water froze solid in under a second. The noble's eyes were chips of blue-green ice as he went very still. He nodded stiffly, clearly holding back an explosion of magic-enhanced fury that would obliterate them all.
All around them, the ice continued to spread.
"I see."

That ice was going to be a setback in reaching her, certainly.
"We were trying to find her when that thing appeared, we don't exactly know what we're doing so..."
She bowed her head slightly.

Remus nodded in agreement. He had no knowledge of where they were or where they would be going. He also was feeling a bit defeated after succumbing to the allures of the sirens and then nearly being done in by the Tenebra. It almost felt as if he had no power in this realm.
"Yes, you know your way around here better than either of us." Remus added.

He shook his head, the ice around them melting. "I don't. If anything, I know less than you do."
The sorcerer faded to the background, the husband coming forth. He was facing away from Remus and Kaok, looking out at the open water, grasping the hull with long-fingered hands.
"We talked about it. She said she wasn't ready, that she wanted to wait until she was sure she could be a proper mother..."
He bowed his head, looking more sad than angry. "She's not ready...not like this."

Kaok didn't know exactly what else to say, so she ended up repeating herself.

((This will be my only post for awhile. I have a class tonight.))
Remus would have said the same thing, but he figured Hrothbert didn't need any more more apologies.The Imperator didn't want to come off as insensitive, but they needed to keep moving. Though the ice would make that very difficult at the present moment.
"Hrothbert, is there some sort of signal you can follow? Perhaps...Emma left some traces leading to where she has gone?"
Starships left behind traces from their exhaust ports that could be tracked with the right equipment. Then again, Emma was not a starship traveling through space.

The last vestiges of the ice turned back to water. "I know where she is, in a way. Her location is a fixed point, but the rest of this world can be bent and twisted around it. The geography is in flux. But I can't feel a thing from her. She's not blocking me out, I know that much, so something must be shielding her."
He had used a sizable chunk of his power trying to stay alive before he had met up with Remus and Kaok. Hrothbert was pale and less present than usual.

Kaok felt truly sorry for the sorcerer, he must have been far more exhausted than them, but she didn't know what she could do to help him.

((I'm back! OMG!))
Remus didn't like the sound of a world that could bend and twist. Remus also wondered if the passage of time on this side of the mirror was different. His head was flooded with questions and worry, but he kept it to himself. He was more concerned with the state of the sorcerer.

She wondered at the time bit. It didn't feel all that long that they were here, but perhaps things were going very quickly and it had really been a while. The instability of this place was intriguing to say the least, and under different circumstances she may have been... amazed?

Remus' clothes had finally dried out and he went to put them back on. While he adjusted his coat, he listened in on the conversation Hrothbert and Kaok were having. Aside from the state of Emma, Remus also worried about the Empire. It was in a weakened state at the moment. If he was absent for too long, political strife could soon become a problem.
