One of the mers lifted herself up when they approached. All the mers were... off... slightly. This one was green and gold and what was off about her was that she had wings... and fangs. Oh... claws too. She blinked, seeming surprised, but she went with it gamely. "Greetings travelers. Berried at the depths of this pond is something that will aid you for your quest. If you wish to swim and fetch it yourself, we will neither aid nor hinder you, however, should you require aid, there will be a game to play. Win we help, fail, and one of you will gain a tail as ours and will stay forever."
"This will be fun!" Sholazar crowed, happily.
