Majnooni
First Name: Noelle
Age: 21
Religion: Christianity
Denomination: unofficially Orthodox

What drew you to this guild?
an invitation

Influential quotes (I have many):
Quote:

"...when I fall into the abyss, I go straight into it, head down and heels up, and I'm even pleased that I'm falling in such a humiliating position, and for me I find it beautiful. And so in that very shame I suddenly begin a hymn. Let me be cursed, let me be base and vile, but let me also kiss the hem of that garment in which my God is clothed; let me be following the devil at the same time, but still I am also your son, Lord, and I love you, and I feel a joy without which the world cannot stand and be."
--Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Quote:
"In His unbounded love, God became what we are that He might make us what He is"
--Saint Irenaeus

Welcome, Noelle, to the guild smile

Thanks!

As for the quote, it has kind of a complex meaning for me that I hope I can explain well: first, that one comes closer to God not through being a righteous person, but through humility and love. This quote is meaningful to me because whenever I fall short, or do things that I'm ashamed of, things that are cruel or selfish or destructive, whenever I claim to follow God even while I am slapping him in the face, I still love him and he loves me back. No matter how low I sink, as long as I reach out for him in love and humility I am constantly redeemed.

First Name: Joshua
Age: 21
Religion: Christian
Denomination: Non-denominational

What drew you to this guild?
An invitation

Influential quote: By no means a quote regarding Christianity, it is what influenced me to dip my hands in all the cookie jars I could find, and that helped lead me back to Christianity from Atheism

''A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, commandeer a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.'' by Robert Heinlein

And as a final note: Thanks for the invitation to this guild! ''Saving Christianity from Christians'' I love it. Very few things in this world can get under my skin, but so-called Christians who don't know a lick of Scripture or adhere to limiting human traditions veiled in Christian ''garb'' are one of those few things. I'm not the most active person on Gaia, but I'll drop in when I can. smile Thanks again.

No problem Joshua. Glad that you accepted the invite. I was a deist bordering on becoming an atheist right before I came back to Christianity myself so I think we might have some common ground here.

Danny
Age: 23
Religion: Christian
Denomination: Reformed

An invitation was sent to me.

I have a number of influential quotes, but the most recent:
Nature gave us one tongue and two ears so we could hear twice as much as we speak.
~Epictetus

I try my best to stay humble. I find that as long as I stay with this attitude, I am teachable. I like to keep this in mind as I'm mingling with people out in the world or online. I enjoy talking to people of all ages, especially older people. I think one of the greatest forms of school is at the feet of an old person.

I tend to be conservative, but I always welcome a new view on any topic. Why not right? I think a mixture of beliefs can be a very healthy thing if it's among mature people.

I really do enjoy discussion, and I especially enjoy learning new things. I always welcome extended discussions. Pleasure to meet you all. smile

First Name: Lina

Age: 24

Religion: It's complicated like a love rhombicosidodecahedron. So, for labeling purposes, I guess "Pagan" is the most likely candidate.

Denomination: People who enjoy smelling flowers.

What drew you to this guild?
An Invitation

Influential quote:
What if you were really old, and really kind and alone? Your whole race dead, no future. What couldn't you do then? If you were that old, and that kind, and the very last of your kind.... you couldn't just stand there and watch children cry.- Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, Doctor Who

((I'm watching that episode right now. It was all I could think of))
