Finished with his task, Saberlin came back inside and waited patiently while she took her time enjoying the bath. Knowing Fern, she would probably take an hour or so.

He fished one of his favourite astronomy books from his suitcase and sat down at the table again to read it, pouring himself another drink and adding some ice cubes, sipping it occasionally.

He waved his tail about slowly whilst he read, unknowingly dislodging more salty sand. "Hmm...I wonder if I should book it now. Yes, that might be wise" Standing up and leaving his book to flap pages idly, he reached a clawed hand for the cordless phone and dialled a number into it, taking the opportunity to make all arrangements while she wasn't around. The surprise would be for tomorrow night!

Saberlin's lips twitched in a faint smile as his feline ears detected the sounds of Fern humming. She had a sweet voice that was pleasant to listen to. He never said anything to her, only listened when he got the chance. He was concerned that if he did say something, it might embarrass her and then she wouldn't sing anymore.

Absorbed in his book, he got a small fright when she came up and hugged him, losing his page. Saberlin chuckled, letting the book slip shut. He hadn't noticed her approaching. "You smell nice. Did you enjoy your bath?" he asked with a slight tease in his voice.

He held the book up to show her, holding it out so she could take it if she wanted and have a better look. The title was set over a background of millions of stars in a milky way galaxy and the large sparkling letters read "Advanced Astronomy and Stargazing - explore further into the secret depths of our magnificent universe. by R. H. Mortimer" It looked like it had been well read, the pages all thumbed through many times. "A favourite of mine. It belonged to my father." Standing and stretching, Saberlin headed for the bathroom and the shower. "Feel free to read some of it if you wish my dear. I won't be long"

Saberlin went into the shower and washed all the sand and saltwater out of his fur.

He exited the bathroom a while later dressed in his more normal attire, which consisted of a white long sleeve buttoned shirt, a pair of black pants and one of his many sets of elegant white gloves. He usually liked to keep his claws hidden as they were extremely sharp and rather long, giving some people the wrong impression. Looking around the room, he spotted Fern at the table and gave an indulgent smile, finding that she was now absorbed in his astronomy book. "Ready to go? Or would you prefer to stay and read?" he asked, walking over to talk to her.

Following her to the door after finding his wallet, Saberlin let Fern exit first. His pale gold eyes made a quick scan of their room before he locked the door securely. He was confident that no one was about to break in, yet it did no harm to be cautious.

Saberlin withdrew a set of silver car keys from his pocket and walked downstairs, through the front entrance and out to the carpark, where he promptly opened the door to the passenger side so his lovely wife could get in. "Now, where shall we explore first? I suggest the older part of town as I beleive it possess more charm. However, the newer stores also have some appeal. I spied several clothing stores you may have found of particular interest"

"As you wish, my flower" He smiled and chuckled softly, inserting the key and starting the ignition. Saberlin had been almost certain Fern would go for the newer stores with their pretty seaside cafes. The clothing shops in particular.

As her pregnancy progressed she would need to buy more outfits to keep up with her changing figure and he knew that most women enjoyed shopping. What did they call that? 'Retail therapy'... He didn't mind it himself, actually. When he was with Fern, she made it quite entertaining. It was worthwhile seeing her smiling and happy when she found things that she liked. Not to mention, she was rather cute at times.

Saberlin drove the glistening black car smoothly out of the carpark and back onto the main road, taking them off to the charmingly antique part of town.

Pulling the car into a parking space on the side of a street lined with tall deciduous trees, he stopped the engine and stepped out, going to open the door for her.

The quaint seaside town held a lot of sights to offer. It had historical houses, several cobblestoned walkways, carved fountains in the courtyards and decorative stonework on some of the buildings and cafes. It also had a large museum, a marine museum with old shipwrecks and legends and plenty of antiques shops, as well as a stunning yet smallish church with stained glass in the windows. Not to mention, there were pots and baskets of beautiful flowers planted everywhere and they also used lamplights, though they were lit by electricity these days. The sound of the sea could still be heard quite clearly from here, along with the faint crying of gulls and other seabirds. "It seems we have arrived. There's a lot to look at!" Saberlin exclaimed, his ears swivelling towards the noise of some markets in the main square.
