Riot sighed a bit. "I'd rather just come over, I like visiting you. But, as you wish." he agreed, his tone soft in a different way. There was a slight hurt in it, almost as if he was worried about having upset Tal to the point of the other not really wanting his contact as much. He was exceptionally confused by all of this.

Tal just generally...stopped. He had done something wrong. He wasn't certain what yet, but he was pretty sure it wasn't good.
"Whatever you like," Tal nodded, going on his toes to kiss Riot's cheek.

Riot smiled softly and nodded. "Have a good day, Tal." he said quietly and showed himself out. The man went directly home after that but it wasn't for at least another hour that he opened up the library. And even then, he didn't seem completely with it.

Tal opened shop that day, but did not speak much with his customers. He was absent, and only smiled as the customers greeted him or left. A few offered to 'help' him or 'talk'. He refused.

It was at least two days later when Riot got up the courage to call. He'd been nervous and upset since having left Tal's kitchen and the neko was almost surprised he wasn't a nervous wreck already. He'd been stressing out and feeling awful over something he didn't have much of a clue about. They'd been getting so close and then bam! like he was suddenly shut out or something. At least that's how it felt. Tal wanting him to call rather than just drop in like he previously had been.
He had to have screwed something up, he was sure of it. Somewhere, somehow, Riot had done something wrong and now he was pretty sure he'd ruined one of the best things he had going for him. Possibly he was over-reacting a bit but the neko was not used to relationships or feelings of this nature. And someone who he'd thought he might have a chance at being happy with suddenly seeming even slightly cold hurt a bit.
Riot had finally made the decision to call Tal and talk to him before he went out of his mind. The dark skinned man felt nervous, off balance and pretty sure he wasn't going to be accepted as warmly as previously. Well, here goes nothing.

Tal was...confused, at first. He hadn't given out his personal number since that whole bout with the business cards a few years ag--oh. He picked up, smiling. His voice was soft.
"Hello?"

Riot took a deep breath before he spoke. "Hey. This is Riot, as you probably guessed. H-how've you been?" he asked softly. Dammit, great time to be nervous, but he really was barely keeping it together.

"Just fine, thank you. You?" Tal asked. Something was still weird between them, and he wasn't sure why. His lack of physical modesty?

Riot breathed deeply again, trying to hold onto his composure. Tal was acting a bit more normal now, which should be reassuring. Instead it was just a bit more confusing. "I-I guess, yeah. Look, could I come see you?" he asked. Damn he sounded like a wimp. Where the hell was Wincott when he needed someone to tell him to stop asking like a scared kitten?

Soon enough, Riot'd arrived at the elf's door. He had barely given himself enough time to brush his hair before he left and hadn't even bothered putting it up like he usually did. The neko wanted to see Tal again, wanted to fix whatever mistake he'd made towards the elf, and he wanted to do it now before he completely chickened out.
When he got to Tal's door, he let himself in. He'd been invited so it should be fine, though he still felt awkward about it. That was just how he was though.

"Hello," Tal smiled, waving to Riot. He was unfortunately still open. What did he plan to do?
"You can head in the back, if you want. I've just got to finish up out here."

Riot nodded a bit. "Yeah, of course." he said softly, walking embarrassedly into Tal's home through the door at the back of the store. He was blushing and fluffed a bit more than usual, though this was mostly cause he didn't exactly look like his usual neat self (he'd not bothered wearing a vest today either and as previously stated, his hair was down) and at least one of Tal's customers was a regular at Winterkeep.

People who liked books tended to like tea, and vice versa. It made sense that some of his regulars would be there. The back room was dimly lit, though, candles flickering on the dining room table. Ooh...

Well that was nice. Riot blushed as he waited in the room for Tal to eventually join him. He felt awkward again. Maybe the other wasn't as mad at him anymore? That'd be good at the very least.
