I heard a wooden flute playing at a fair I went to. I asked my mom if I could have one, and she said she had one at home already. I started playing it, and the next time I saw my music teacher I asked her if I could join the band and play the flute. She had me try out a regular flute, and I have been playing it ever since!

I wanted to be in band ever since I found out it existed. (Probably like grade 3) I didn't want to play trumpet, flute or clarinet, because I din't really want a "main" instrument. I didn't want to play anything huge, and the other instruments weren't available for chloice until grade 8. So, the sax was obviously the best choice. Lisa Simpson was a deciding factor as well. razz
And I've liked it ever since. The only problem is the large amount of people in the section now.

When I was in fourth grade, my music teacher played twinkle twinkle for us on a trumpet and something clicked in me that I would play trumpet. And as soon as I got into sixth grade I signed up for trumpet. <3 I dont know, just something made me chose trumpet and then it just came so natrually and easily to me... I dont know.

Well I wanted to play the clarinet (which I play in my spare time now) but i couldn't make noise on it! crying I had tried to play on every instrument the band director had, but I didn't make a squeak or notes on any.
The last instrument they had was French Horn and I played Twinkle Little Star on it so that's how I'm a F Horn player! (I couldn't even play drums!) I also play trumpet since that was the instrument they told me to start out with (I could play two notes on a trumpet then before I moved to F horn I was 1st chair)
My band director thought that was weird cause of the tinny mouthpiece, but I love it and I'm never going to switch! Also my new band director says that I have one of the best F horn sounds and that I might switch to NATRAUL HORN!!!!!! (A F Horn with no vaules or triggers)

Well, my mom has been playing flute since middle school, and so I've been listening to the sound ever since I was little. My mom definately wanted me to get into music, and I had a dilemma. I also liked French Horn. In the end I chose flute, and I am SO glad. I hate buzzing your lips in brass, mostly because it's hard to do it for me.
As for percussion, after I started flute, I had flute lessons just before my mother's band practice. I was a about nine, and I loved to listen to the music they played. The percussion watched me they wanted me to join in, so they told my mom I could join if I wanted to, and that they'd take me in. (This was a community band) And I've been playing percussion with them ever since.
If I had to drop one, it'd be percussion. I love the flute and I have dedicated a part of my life to it.

I started trumpet in 5th grade, it wasnt even my first choice because my mom wouldnt let me do drums (she grew up with a brother who was on his kit 24/7 and didnt want to relive the experience), and Baritone was too big for me (not anymore xd ), which left me with trumpet. halfway through freshman year I got bored with trumpet, took advantage of my increase in size and took up Euphonium biggrin

Um... Err... How I came to play the French Horn.... Right... Lets start from the top.
We I was at this big thing at the school, in the whole fine arts hallway, and the practice rooms (And the orchestra room and the band hall) had a different instrument. The band hall had brass, the practice rooms had woodwind instruments, and the orchestra room was for percussion. I tryed everything, and the last thing I went to was brass. Before the bassoon person (Who I will end up knowing as the assistant band director said (In a nicer way) that I was useless for the bassoon. I couldn't make a sound on it. The oboe person said about the same thing. I was close for saxophone, and my hands couldn't move fast enough for percussion. Well, I went into the band hall where the brass people were, and it as split into low brass and the Trumpet and French Horn guy. Apparently my embouchure was perfect for a brass player. I breezed through the low brass, not finding anything that I was particularly interested in, and I went to the Trumpet and French Horn guy. He tried me out on Trumpet, and said I was great. Then he gave me the French Horn, and he fingered for me. He played me one note, I repeated it, and this went on for a little while until he looked amazed. Apparently I only got one off pitch. Yay me! He told me that I need to play French Horn, and I liked the tone and the feel. I told the band director up front, and now I'm a French Horn player.
Long story short, I was useless at Woodwinds and Percussion, but awesome at brass instruments, and now I am a French Horn player.

When I was in 5th grade we took a tour of the middle school and got to see the middle school play their instruments... well I play clarinet, but originaly I thought oboe was clarinet... though I love to play my clarinet heart ^.^ and I just started to play mellophone a few weeks ago only because not that I just wanted to, I have too. But, the best thing I found out about it is it's the marching french horn!!!!! =D French horn is my favorite brass instrument heart heart heart [=
