Apparently there was a message delay on this one...

Lahren was just shooting zombies as they came in, trying to clog the hole totally.

There wasn't much else he could do.

Bzzt. Bzzt.

As long as you don't mind getting wet. The basement flooded.

Caesar was worried about that creaking in the roof.
And that robozombie flood moving in from the window.
And, you know, that horrible racket as the monstrous tide outside scraped and scurried across every surface of the house-fortress.

Caesar did what he could to try to clog the holes with corpses, but the robozombies were physically competent enough to make the process an exercise in wishful thinking. But still he fired, realizing his ammunition situation now would require taking more careful aim, into the horde. A single round to the head of these lighter zombies could probably drop them; the big old guns being reliably able to penetrate their armor and brutalize circuitry-- what he hoped was circuitry--at these close of quarters. Caesar was also getting pretty good at tracing their strangely regular movement quirks-- there was not a lot of variety in how the robots approached a given situation.

Like charging at a gunman over a pile of their own.

The truck has landed, after a long wait and much zombie-frying.

Lah was getting tired of this. He was down eight arrows, left him with twenty-two, and he wanted at least some of them left for later so he could actually defend himself in case of another SHITSTORM.

So he was going to do something stupid, maybe. It had worked for him up to this point, after all.

"The hell is Bryant?!"

Fwing. Twenty-one arrows left.

"No idea!" Joseph shouted, "I'll pick up the rear, make sure everyone gets out and on the truck. I hope one of you can drive."

Joseph would slam a button on the nav-wrist opening an emergency exit.

"Let's go!"

Shitgodown.

The truck arrived. The truck probably damn-well saved Lahren from doing something he'd really regret. Then again, he was depending on a paycheck from this to survive.

"Oh, damnit... That b*****d better not die..." He bolted backwards, abandoning his position and slinging his bow over his shoulder, before literally front-flipping into the back of the truck, landing perfectly with arms outspread.

Drive? s**t, he had a hard time driving the snowmobile. Nah, unless no one else stepped up to the plate he was going to chill in the back and kick any zombies that wanted a ride in the jaw.

The thump of the crate landing shook the house, and probably eliminated more than a few robozombies.

"YOU WORK FAST!"

Caesar bolted for the truck, holstering his weapons and going purely for speed. He was able to cover ground pretty well when he needed to, despite the weight of some of his recently acquired booty weighing down his pockets.

Once at the truck, he would haul open the driver's door with the speed of a fresh blast of adrenaline. He did not like being exposed, and the only way to get out of the street now that the house was surely overrun was to get inside that vehicle. For the sake of them all, we can assume Joseph answers when Caesar requests, "keys?"

He wasn't sure where they would be going, but the rest of his new companions seemed to be tied together somehow-- maybe they would get a call.

Bright, shiny lights erupted from the Palace, shooting up into the sky as dark clouds formed overhead.

((See announcement, like.))

Lahren stated it, very flatly, in the middle of a panic.

"Away from here. Away from zombies. Go go go."

And then proceeded to stand up in the back of the truck, and deliver a jaw-crushing kick to one of the zombies that were outside the truck, if there was one.

Damn, that hurt his foot.

"I'm going to make Bryant's wallet bleed if I get out of this."

((I think we can also assume Wahoozer and Olive pile in here))

Caesar started the truck and hauled a**. You get what you pay for, and Joseph had laid down enough to get a high quality vehicle.

Even then, it was no tank. Caesar would try to avoid as many zombies as he could, but wasn't going to sacrifice much speed in the process. It simply wasn't worth giving them any more of a chance to get on top of the vehicle than necessary-- that was his greatest worry. A zombie on top could cut through the roofing, or shift the weight enough to make the 4x4 tip on a sharp turn-- like would immediately come as he tried to maneuver for a main road on which he could pick up speed.

He was chanting under his breath, "vamanosvamanovamanos..."

Jacknife booked it, grabbing his shotgun as he ran up the stairs away from the zombie hoard behind him. As he ran towards the back of the house one of the windows slid up for him. He quickly slid out of the window and caught on the windowsill before dropping down and rolling across the ground.

"Shotgun!" He shouted, brandishing his weapon and running for the passenger's seat.

He took half a moment to stick his sword in its scabbard across his back, then climbed into the cab of the truck. "Let's get the hell out of here." He said, rolling down the window as he cracked open the barrel and loaded two shells into the gun.
