She would have been impressed with the fact he was carrying her, her rifle, and her bag if it hadn't been for the fact she was upside down with her a** in the air. Or if it had even really sunk in that her a** was in the air because Kael had gotten pissed off and thrown her over his shoulder in the first place.

Instead, she was silent for several minutes, too stunned to speak which allowed for an easier entrance to the Steel District. Not to mention that the added weight would give him better traction on the ice and snow anyways.

"The hand on that a** payment will be collected the moment you set me down, cowboy." was about as much stubborness as she could muster at the moment. All she saw was the idea of that little kid on the bike, and then the two that had attacked Kael, and the one she'd taken out.

Kael snorted.

"What, take it off? And leave you to wiggle off and crack your head so you can wallow in your pain some more?"

Kael was stomping through the area- never mind that there was snow all over, he was plodding through it at one hell of a pace, leaned forward and walking about as fast as one could go without ever getting both feet off the ground at once, leaving deep tracks. This place should have been either chock full of zombies or dead emptied- depended on if people were working or not when they'd all disappeared. Kael wasn't waiting one way or another though, he was trotting over and around things at his rapid pace, never mind the cold. He hardly felt it anymore.

"This ain't no request service. I'm the ******** hero!"

He started roaring laughter- stealth had gone out the window along with just about every other feeling.

Kael'd been having a tough time of it, but he'd finally teetered over into berserk-mode.

"I save ******** lives, like it or not!

"Woo the ladies and save the chillin', kill the baddies and save the world! I'm on the ******** job today! ********' badass ********' super ********' hero man!"

Punctuated as he turned to take a shortcut through a building, kicking the door open with his heavy boot and plodding on through.

"Crazy son'va'b***h anti-hero. ******** off my rocker!"

That elicited more laughter, sounding less amused and more... wrong. Angry, strained, and just wrong. It was just one more thing in a city full of berserk zombie-robot people.

And then...

...he started singing.

"Oh no, the world is a scary place- now that you've woken up the demon in me~"

Kael was getting down with the sickness.

"You can let me down now." She was more than a little disturbed by Kael's behavior. But she wasn't about to hurt someone who might have gone insane. Besides, she just wanted down.

Sam had to wait a minute. There was a problem with her whole timing- I mean, you couldn't just expect someone to stop in the middle of a verse.

As Kael kicked open the far door and stomped on through, he finally answered.

"Are you gonna behave?"

It was probably a frightening thing- he had spoken in a singsong tone, adding a sort of purely insane musical element to the already BerserKael. He still seemed moderately sane though- enough to respond to her like that and to put a hand on his hand as he kicked the door open.

A great black cloud tendril would touch down on the area, creating a new, iffy-looking passageway up into the sky.

Also, it should note that there was a suit of armour as well as a near armoury of weapons all around it. It seemed there was a fight here, a rather epic one.

But one entity could only exist where challenges were to be had. And there was now a greater threat, it wouldn't be honorable to pick fights.

"Kael put me down, or I will not be responsible for my actions." Her temper was rising. She couldn't even wallow in her own misery without someone butting in.

"If I put you down you'd better not end up responsible for wallowing around waiting for zombies or k-"

Kael paused, blinking, and turned around.

He looked up slowly, at something dark up in the sky, off in the distance. He hadn't really known it was coming, but.... there was some kind of a wrong, aching feeling.

Bending over slowly, he put Sam's feet back to the ground and let her stand up, staring off at the Anti-Field.

He didn't like it. That thing felt wrong.

And some entirely ******** insane part of his brain told him that it meant that somewhere there was a villain he had to defeat.

Onward-ho!

"We're looking for the on/off switch for that."

At this point, Sam would probably finally get a good look at Kael's voice. As much as was acting all bat-s**t insane, fun and games I-think-I'm-a-superhero-guy, his face looked every bit as stretched, pained, and just messed up as his voice had sounded.

Apparently, where she had just collapsed in on herself, Kael had cracked his sanity instead.

He moved quickly around a corner and off, trying to work his way out of the city, only to stop around the third corner, nearly as quickly as he had started.

"...why hello there."

Kael walked up to the scene of the epic battle and all that remained, the swords and axes and scabbards and maces and everything else left strewn about. He couldn't carry all of it, but... he could use a new sword... and he'd always wished he could afford armor...

Kael unbuckled the belt holding his scabbard at his waist quickly.

"...one moment."

He picked up the breastplate.

Bending over slowly, he put Sam's feet back to the ground and let her stand up,

But he would get no further...

For he would find Sam's knee slammed into his chest as he started to rise as her hands grabbed his neck and pushed his torso against her knee and then using her superior balance and sanity, tossed him to the ground beside her.

"You a*****e!"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 08, 2008 2:00 pm

"--unghf!"

Kael winced, and wavered. The blow stung, and he was now half-breathless, but there was this tendency in people gone berserk to just...

...well, they were berserk. Not a lot really seemed to bother them all that much. Not as much as it should. And they didn't seem to enjoy the same limits for sake of not hurting themselves as usual.

Kael caught himself halfway down, on one hand, and coughed. His head turned upward-

And his legs exploded as he did some strange motion mixing a tackle and standing up, slamming his shoulder into her chest hard as an arm wrapped around her again, throwing her back over just like before. Only this time, the hand came right back up and slapped her on the behind.

Hard.

He didn't want to hit her head into anything, but he did start spinning slowly- trying to keep careful of his own feet but keep her a little disoriented.

"Hell are you doing? What happened to-"

He did a quick motion to bounce her hard on his shoulder, another small blow into her stomach.

"What happened to behaving?"

"Ungh..."

She lost her breath as he slammed into her and lifted her up and over his shoulder again. And then her head was spinning.

"I never said..." And fight the urge to puke. " anything" and she grabbed onto the back of his jeans to fight the sensation of being about to fall off his shoulder even if he was keeping her on him by the positioning of his hand.

"about behaving." Her backpack was falling onto her head, and she was getting more and more pissed.

"You"

"owe"

"me"

"a lot more"

"than"

"shopping"

"Now."

She had to pause between each word because she did get vertigo rather easily and it was hard to keep what little she had in her stomach still there.

The zombies in the area started heading for the sewers, ignoring the humans for now. Few remained, but those few would not proactively seek out living beings to kill.

"Hell,"

Kael made a strategic decision.

Or, rather, just a decision. Not really a big or complicated one. Just a decision.

"Alright, I'm letting you on your own like you wanted."

He growled and kicked the door back open, stomping back into the building he'd just cut through. Kael wasn't going to bounce or jostle her too much- just when she started struggling again, working on just keeping her moderately helpless and across his shoulder until he got to a nice, empty room that looked good to stash her in- just private office, which he stormed into, hand on hilt, only to find clear of zombies.

This time, he'd give her one more good bounce, then wrap one arm over the back of her legs and wing her around, landing the back of her neck on his other hand, and bend over to try and put her quickly down and get up.

...if that went well he'd simply give her a half somber-half growled "keep safe" and make his exit.

She'd been expecting it, and so her muscles were relaxed and it didn't hurt as much as the others. She landed quickly, but not so quickly as she couldn't respond. After all, her reflexes were one of her best features.

"Oh no you don't, cowboy"

And that should have been warning enough. But the business end of the rifle was now poking him in the back as Sam had lifted the gun as she stood up to follow after him. She'd had some sense knocked into her, but there were still things to be done.

"******** genius," Kael chuckled at himself, shoulders shaking with it.

His head turned around to face her, but he didn't move otherwise. His hands stayed down by his sides and his body upright. Kael was grinning though. That crazy "I'm ********" grin, the one he threw up when he should be dead but couldn't help it anyway. Maybe it was a coping device. Maybe he was just that insane somewhere deep inside.

"Guess I always said it anyway. I'm not the hero, just a side actor."

There was something sad, tired about his eyes. But that was one little hint in the face of a guy who had his face scrunched in mixes of anger, pain, and other things for the last hour or so.

"...when's the bang?"
