"I should just lock Elberon and Lin into a room together and let them question each other to death," Donovan muttered with a sigh as he waved bye to Celebor.
It had been a long time since he had talked to Elberon, which was.... unfortunate.
Let him be honest he avoided Elberon on even his good days.
"Though, I would like the company, are you interested yourself Kara?"

Kara giggled and waved it off, "I have the whole trip while you're gone to visit people since it sounds like Miyu and Lin are going to have their time occupied when I'm not teaching them."
And it sounded like they were in for more lessons of their own choosing too.

"As long as they're not geting into trouble," Aliya laughed. "Sometimes I wonder what sort of trouble Adan would be getting into if not for Aragost ... you really have no idea how thankful I am for him."
Ulrich chuckled. "Well, you women have fun in here then," he grinned at Kara, Aliya and Ulani. "And we'll see you later."
"Be back in time for us to go home and make dinner," Ulani told Ulrich as he turned to leave.
"Uh huh."
"And bring Amdir back with you then," Aliya added, grinning impishly, "or you get to carry Adwin back."
Ulrich chuckled. "Yes, yes, I'll bring him back, too." And he waved to them and headed out, making sure that Donovan was following after him.

Donovan chuckled at that as he followed Ulrich out the door. Overall he noted the Ranch hadn't changed too much, which was good otherwise he would be force to get his grounds every single time he came back.

"So who would you like to talk to first?" Ulrich grinned at Donovan. "I really don't think it makes too much of a difference, everyone's pretty much going to stay where they are until dinner time at least, when the shifts change again."

Donovan thought about it for a minute, it would be quite a while before dinner if he recalled correctly, "Elberon then," he murmured.
Might as well get the hardest person (to him) out of the way first.

Ulrich chuckled softly. "Good call," he agreed. "That way you can tell him you still have a lot of people to talk to and cut it a bit shorter. Granted, he's actually running out of questions to ask about the ranch itself, so he's been a bit better of late, but having you back will just provoke new ones."
He changed direction to head towards the stables.
"Though I'm sure he's got a lot of work to do, still getting rid of old straw and manure from the winter."

"Just wait until Kara manages to get Elnara's family here," Donovan murmured, "With all types of kids running around he'll have a lot of... wonderful questions..."
Though he was sure there was still plently to do before dinner anyhow.

Ulrich chuckled as he opened the door to the stables. "Indeed," he agreed lightheartedly, stepping inside.
"Elberon!"
It was fairly light in the stables, mostly thanks to the windows in the roof that let in light that wouldn't otherwise make it inside, but the air was thick with dust and particles, and Ulrich stayed close to the door, leaving it open for fresh air.
Elberon was in one of the back stalls, but when he was called he leaned his pitchfork up against the wall of the stall and headed over to where Ulrich and Donovan were waiting.
"Hello," he grinned, his eyes lighting up when he saw Donovan. "You're back! It's been quite a while since I've had the pleasure-"
"Elberon, we can't stay long," Ulrich cut the man off. "We've lots to do, Donovan's leaving again in the morning, in case Celeborn hasn't been here yet."

Donovan wondered how many times Ulrich had interaced with Elberon, he was quicker to cut the man off than Elrohir had when he first met him. Then again it had been several years he had noted.
"Elberon," Donovan murmured trying not to smirk, "Yes it has been a while, I'm just checking in with as many people as possible."

"Ah, I see," Elberon nodded wisely. "Yes. A report on the horses, I would imagine? They're doing quite well, we're selling as many as we're birthing, and putting out some of the best stock I've seen in my life."
He blinked. "Is that the sort of checking up you mean? Or is it a different kind?"

Donovan chuckled, well that was useful to know too he would have to admit.
"Well that too, but just to see how everyone is doing," he explained, "I'm always coming and going and really time passes very quickly here so there always has been something new. It's been.... quite a number of years since the ranch has been startled, but it isn't as long for me."

Elberon chuckled. "Ah, I see. Yes. Well, I've been doing well, we all have, I think. We've all settled into our routines, and it's getting easier, despite the fact that it's getting busier. Shael especially is fitting in well, she's quite good with the horses, breeding them, birthing them, or looking after them, and that makes it a lot easier for the rest of us here in the stables."

It reminded him that he also probably owed Shael a visit too, not just as someone who worked on the Ranch, but as Admir had pointed out. Shael was no longer a child.
Damn the passing years.
"Excellent," Donovan mused, "Is she around today?"
He knew that she sometimes was at home, depending, and Donovan had no idea what she did on a day to day basis.

Elberon shook his head. "No, she only comes around in the morning and sometimes in the evening. She spends her afternoons at home, though she never tells me what she does there, no matter how many times I ask."
"I wonder why," Ulrich muttered under his breath.
Elberon didn't seem to hear him. "But I'm sure she'll be around tonight again," he smiled at Donovan. "I know she was saying something about checking on one of the fillies that was born last week, something about it's weaker than it should be."
