"Oh, that would be very nice of you, dear." The older female said, "She's a white Parus with pink markings, should be easy enough to spot."
She looked in the direction Snow had indicated, craning her neck to see if she could spot little Rose somewhere.
Birch wasn't aware that he had been holding his breath, but as Tousled came back from her temporary daze he suddenly remembered that air was a good thing. He exhaled and started to cough.
"I'm just glad you are all right," he croaked and coughed again. He couldn't suppress a grin as she noticed the berries.
"I'm way ahead of you," he said, lifting one foot to show her the slightly worse for wear berries he had 'picked up', "I've already started. But I'm sure there are less messy ways to do it..."

Liam glanced at the dark sky, what little of it peeked through the branches, and nodded genially at the female. "Indeed, the weather is quite nice. Has it been this pleasant in your part of the forest recently?" He wondered why the female seemed so nervous around the others. Sure, her Companion had just committed an egregious faux pas, but all had been forgiven. Was it something deeper? He sat back, relaxed, as non-confrontational as he could be.

"To tell the truth, I'm..." Raine hesitated. She wasn't quite sure if she could trust the couple, though they did look honest...And why would they want to take her territory, anyways, when they probably had a much better one of their own? Arrgh, she was so selfish and stupid. She didn't even deserve the deserted tangle of old and dying trees that was her home; if some other Sentinel decided to take it, it would probably be for the better...The conflicted Sentinel took a deep breath.
"I-I'm afraid I don't really know the weather conditions at my home. I'm not there very often, being a Ranger and all...I try to go back every other week..." It was an unspoken, but generally understood truth that Raine's absence for weeks at a time left her residence extremely vulnerable to invasion.
Trusting other Sentinels with one of her weaknesses, small though it might be, was definitely not something Raine did often. Confiding in others proved to be extremely difficult, but it was a good start...

"Well, that would be easy to spy, yes!" Snow exclaimed happily, enjoying the attitude 'lift' she's receiving from the older sentinel. She craned her head upwards and squinted her eyes, roaming over each branch and twig that her vision could rest on with clarity. "Hmm...I can't see her just yet. Maybe if I flew up a little higher."
Making sure nobody was too close to her, the mist hopped up into the air, quickly stretched out her wings and pushed herself upwards in silence. After a few strokes she found a good branch to perch on, and from there, her lookout began again. She focused her eyes into the direction she felt she saw something small flitter away, and after a few sweeps of her gaze she found what she was looking for.
Leaping from her branch, she flew a few trees over and upwards and landed about five feet away from the small parus, on a completely different tree altogether. "Hello? Rose, is that you?" She kept her voice soft and as friendly as she could muster. "It's alright now, everything's safe."

Odd; this was all very odd. Dewfeather couldn't exactly make up mind how she felt about this spectacle. This was the first Longest Night she had ever witnessed, and she wasn't exactly sure what to make of it.
So many of us… Instant told her to flee, although she managed to control herself. Wide stone blue orbs scanned the place as she circled once, twice, higher and higher. There had to be someplace less crowded…someplace she could just sit and think.
Stop being so silly, the striped mist's mind echoed, causing her to swoop lower into the masses. Look at all of us…it's okay…it's okay tonight.
With a sigh she scanned around, finding a slightly crowded spot, and landing rather chaotically in it. "Sorry," she whispered to those around her. I'm here to make friends, not kill them. Her mind teased, causing her to ruffle her feather in defense.

Valora had stayed close to the canopy, watching the other sentinels move about below her. The story..... Had there actualy been a Helios? A Noctus? She stealed a peak at her companion. Zeke's mental gears were turning, she could tell.
"Hee... Hee," the white companion wheezed, "Heeeel." "Heal? Did you hurt yourself, Zeke?" The chirop shook his head feverishly, "Heel'oz." Zeke drew a wing across his eye, a quick charade. Sad.
Helios had lost his ability to speak. Yeah, Valora guessed that hit home. "It's okay. It's a story," Val didn't want to admit that she believed it could be true, "Why? You wanna paint him?" Zeke blinked up at her, then dove down. Maybe he could find the Brigadier, or a bard. There had to be more to the story. "Oh, great Mother of us all," Valor sighed, following her chirop.

Silverwing regained his composure and looked around, wondering who he had run into, but he couldn't see the same feathers anywhere nearby. Perhaps they were scared off? "Oh darn," he muttered to himself, "I didn't even get to apologize."
On the other hand, his prize was right in front of him as he was standing near a pile of berries and he shrugged the incident off. Just as he was about to feast on the gatherer's efforts a young mist had landed rather unceremoniously just a few yards away. She seemed rather unconfident and Silverwing decided to hop over to usher her into the celebration.
"How're you hangin' in there?" he greeted the newcomer who still looked nervous, "I s'pose this isn't your first social gathering, is it?"

Silverwing's entrance startled her slightly, causing her to jump slightly, before realizing how silly she was being. It's not like I'm going to be eaten.. her mind cooed softly to herself. She was being rather silly…
"Oh-hi!" Dewfeather chirped, blue eyes absorbing the Watcher. He seemed nice; so why did she feel so nervous? His next words caused he to chuckle slightly, feathers ruffling.
"Is it that obvious?" She asked, looking away with slight embarrassment. "It's just so…odd to see this many…almost frightening…"
"I'm Dewfeather," she introduced herself, looking back, and offering a slight grin.

The silvery male bowed low and spread his wings slightly, as if gesturing a greeting, "The name's Silverwing, and it's a pleasure to meet you on this wonderful night, Dewfeather!"
"Being uncomfortable in the crowd is one sign, not that it's a bad thing," he continued in whisper, "besides, some of the older ones here prefer being out of picture."
Silverwing made his way through the crowd towards the spoils, and bekoned his new friend to follow. "It's just that we're a nice bunch of creatures," he paused to push a couple of berries to the side for both of them, "there's really nothing that should scare you from getting to know your fellow sentinel, especially when we're having so much fun."

Liam nodded. "That's too bad. My lady Hazel here's a Ranger, too..." Realization of his beloved's periodic absence sunk in and his feathers drooped. By Noctus, I'll miss her when she's gone... Drawing himself back up, he clicked his tongue as a manner of clearing his beak. "I'm always aware of the weather in my territory. Sometimes too aware, especially when I'm holed up in my sleeping with four eggs, five hatchlings, and as many fledglings as can crowd in there. Rainy days are the worst for a Minder! I rarely leave home. Fortunately I'm not Minding too many right now, just my sort-of son, and he's here tonight, so I could take some time off for myself, and believe me, I'm glad I did," he said, nuzzling Feathery Hazel. He felt sorry for the other Ranger. Poor thing, always on the go... he didn't even know if she had anybody to return to. He almost said "If it's ever on your route, you're welcome to stop by, you know. Lots of snacks about..." but the sight of Furry Hazel killed his words. As much as he felt for the Ranger, his fledglings, hatchlings, and eggs came first. Amending his speech, he ad libbed "It must be awfully lonely out there. If you're ever in the neighborhood, you can send a message by Chirop and I can get some Mus tails out for you to pick up or something."

Tousled looked at the bard's sticky, berry-encrusted foot, and felt another strange sensation come over her. Not a buzzing, this time, but a fizzy, bubbling feeling that rose from her stomach into her chest, and then erupted out through her beak, spreading warmth all throughout her body.
She laughed. It was brief and soft and a little bit husky, but it was probably the most whole-hearted sound that Tousled had ever made in the company of other sentinels, and it was wonderfully relaxing.
"Oh Birch, your foot..." she whimpered through the giggles, while at the same time trying to pick the mashed berry-pieces off of said appendage. "I'm so sorry, I really am. I didn't mean to drop them." She let another little laugh escape her. "I'm so clumsy! My head started spinning and I... I just... I'm sorry..."
She took a deep breath and composed herself, having cleaned the worst mess off of Birch's foot, and looked beamingly up into his face. The excitement that had flown in on the wings of laughter was almost as strong as the disturbing buzzing had been, only a few moments ago.
"I can't believe I did that!" she exclaimed breathlessly, the laughter still bubbling just beneath the surface of every astonished word. "Do you really think they fell for it?"

Chased turned around, facing every direction. He was quite sure he’d heard something about a missing parus. Growing slightly impatient, he approached the first Sentinel that caught his attention, a Shadow female following a little white chirop. “Excuse me, miss. “ he said apologetically, lowering his head in a polite greeting “I wonder if you could help me. Did you hear anyone talk about a missing parus? I was certain I heard something about it around here.”

"Missing parus? Missing parus? Whattabouttamissingparus?" A strange, dark feathered creature hopped nearer to Chase and the shadow female. He was a pica, but had been painted strangely. His feathers were completely black. An orange-red and yellow banded his shoulders. The pica tilted his head and began again.
"Whattabouttamissingparus? 'Yord an I a help looka, yes. 'Yord an I will help. Name is Feather. Feather is 'Yord's. There he is, there he is." He waved a wing towards the gaudily dressed young bard, who perched silently beside them.

Chase still had his had his head lowered when a small dark figure hopped to his side, startling him. “What the…” Chase jumped up and eyed the Pica with some apprehension until he finally managed to understand what the lively companion was saying. “Oh. Thank you… actually, I’d much rather find the owner of the parus first.” His eyes travelled to the Shadow female, then to the young bard that had just settled next to them, finally returning to the Pica. “Nice to meet you, Feather. I’m CloudChaser.”

"Cloudchasercloudchasercloudchaser, nice name." The pica chattered on. He tilted his head sideways and hopskipped slightly toward the sentinel, studying him. It was a prod of Fjord's wing that caused him to back up slightly.
"Forgive him. He tends to be easily excitable." Fjord chuckled slightly, then gave a sweeping bow. "I am Fjord, a Muse... Rather late to the celebration, but here I am. Feather alerted me to information concerning a missing parus? If need be, as he said,w e would be willing to lend a wing."
"Yahyahyahyah, we'll help!" The pica couldn't help but chime in as he hopped back beside the bard.
