anitasakura I hope she doesn't write an essay on the recent episode. I would pull a Sokka and smack my head everytime theres something goofy. Heh, If she tried that, dear, the WHOLE DANG THING would be goofy. The fact that she even THOUGHT about doing it would be goofy. She has NOTHING to go on.

But you know, I had a revelation tonight... You know how Spootay kind of ripped us to shreds over the fact that we use symbolism as our 'evidence' for shipping Zutara?
Highlighted cause it's a bit spoilerish for 313...
Well, have you ever noticed that the major symbolisms and similarities throughout the show all have to do with Fire/water?
The yin-yang bits(I include the dragon masters in this episode, along with Tui and La) were attributed to FIRE and WATER.
And the dragons were red(fire) and blue(water)
AND NOW, with the real essence of fire being revealed as LIFE and energy, that only adds on! Water is the element of LIFE and healing!
The other two elements,while they too contribute to the life force, are not mentioned like Fire and Water are. And while a few fire/water references similarities here and there might not be so strong...this new bit, this HUGE one about life, only adds on to what we already have!
So, the whole argument with Spootay, actually taught me what I needed to know for this. I found myself looking at the new symbolism from 313, like the red and blue dragons, the yin yang pattern they made as they circled eachother, the 'life' attribute of true firebending...I found myself looking at all of that, and asking myself,
But what makes it Zutara? It may be fire and water, but are they perhaps just coincidences between the elements? What makes these symbolisms relatable to Zuko and Katara, the actual people?
And then it hit me, the whole thing with the other elements not being referenced the way water and fire have been throughout the show. There's less than half a season left but Earth and Air haven't really been used in the symbolism as Fire and water have.
It's the DOMINANCE of fire and water similarities and symbolism that makes it Zutara. The dominance of it that points to a greater possiblity of something interesting becoming of it, and it just begs the question of Zuko and Katara.
It's not the fact that Tui and La were in the show, or that Zuko was taught a waterbending move... it's not that alone...It's the culmination of all these things, the focus that's put onto THESE TWO ELEMENTS out of all four that really make it stand out and MEAN something.
This is what justifies our symbolism.
Oh my god. That's right, I had a huge revelation tonight...
And you know what? It proved I came away from the fight with Spootay with something gained...And it's even better that I could use it to find deeper meaning to my ship, too.
I found myself looking at it CRITICALLY, as if I was still talking to her and she was shooting my ideas of symbolism down. I asked myself what Spootay would ask: What makes it Zutara.
And I thought about it, and I came to this answer. I realized it. It was truly a revelation that I had to hop out of bed at 2:30 in the morning to type out into my 313 review in my DA journal, just to get it out to other Zutarians.
It's nice to know I learned something from all this Spootay stuff and I used it to better the Zutarian Ship. I have my occasional strokes of genius, and this was one of my favorites.

Fine, I'll live. No, what got me was the comments at the bottom. Oh. My. God. Can you say 'Mindless bashing'?! Generalizations left and right, and comparing Zutarains to rabid Yaoi fans! Well, excuse me :/ Or the whole 'So you're saying women like to be raped'? Where the hell did that come from?! The defense on the artist is poor and very judgemental. I feel bad for OrePookPook :[

HAY GUYS HAVE YOU HEARD!GreenifyME then the biggest fandom in avatar will have to admit that they were wrong all along. but usually the largest fandom is the largest for a reason...because it is the one that becomes canon. it isn't just a coincidence that there are so many zutara shippers. StarDragon77 Or it could just be that all women have that same fantasy of the bad boy and the good girl. GreenifyME i suppose. but there are also male zutarians, so...

ATLA has some of the worst shipping wars, doesn't it? >0> There are only a few fandoms where someone will rip you apart for liking something different, and sadly avatar is one of them. =/

This whole thing about women liking being raped, and the Bad boy thing? THAT makes NO sense. Now not only is he generalizing that all Zutarians are rabid, insatiable and irrational fangirls that just like the good girl/bad boy type of pairing, but now he's saying that women like to be raped? OrePookPook never said that! Stardragon's the one that brought it up!
Yeah, Green and OrePookPook tried their best but it usually ends up useless to try and argue with a wall. Like the Spootay thing proved.

Seriously! Spootay said that we immediately jumped on the Zutara bandwagon when we saw Zuko in a shirtless Agni Kai, and seeing as how Katara was the only girl to be introduced so far, we chose her to carry our Zuko affections..
But, as soon as Mai would come along wouldn't like, half of us convert to Maikoism? I mean, really. Mai had more going for her in potential of getting with him from the first time we saw her! Wouldn't we Zuko fangirls want to transfer over to that so we could live through MAI, who got who knows HOW many Zuko kisses?

It's like they refuse to think that we may just see things differently, see different possibilities and outcomes...Which, I might add, is a PART OF HUMAN NATURE. It's not that we are watching different shows, or that we're *gag* watching with our asses, it's just that we SEE different possiblities and potential. And then we get flamed and generalized and put down for it!
Age shouldn't have anything to do with an argument like these. I was tempted to ask her how old she was throughaout this thing, because she was acting like a child in how close-minded and hateful she was...And yet she is in fact 23.
