Hey, AG! Long time no see. I hate to drop in so randomly but I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm going to NYC in a week and I still have no idea what/where I should visit. I know a few of you guys have visited (or lived) there before, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for places to go. In particular, I'm looking for recommendations for good museums, places to eat, and anything you find notable. Let me know, k? I really need the help at the moment.

Well, all of the big sites in NYC are on your list, I'm sure. So mentioning the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building really doesn't help. The Met is a great place to spend a whole day, if you've got the time, and I quite enjoyed the Natural History museum as well. While it's not a place to visit, I would suggest getting passes to one of the bus tours around the city, then constantly use it for the two days or so they're good for. You can hop on or off if you see something interesting, and they give a good overview of the city to find new things to check out that you hadn't thought of before. When I went there, I found it to be well worth it. I'd just try some random places to eat. There's so much variety, I don't really have any suggestions other than "find somewhere that looks appealing, then give it a shot."

I'm not a huge help here because whenever I go to NYC I generally just shop and visit Central Park, but you might want to poke Era - he lives there.
Gosh, you'll be so close. Wonder if there's a way for me to get to the city ;-;

I hope to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island at least, but I hadn't thought much about the Empire State Building. Do you have to pay to go to the top? Also, what kind of art does the Met have? I personally prefer classical art so I'm a bit picky... The bus tour does sound like a good idea, though I don't know if I'll have time? I know Hiro's friends are planning things to do too, so I'm not sure. As for food, I figured if I didn't get any specific recs that's what I'd end up doing, which isn't bad either. I do enjoy adventure. wink
