LunaInverse teh CB my poor car might be dead. sad sad sad sad Dead cars are no good... crying Indeed sad but, thankfully... MABLE WILL LIVE! She has a busted head gasket and my parents think it better to get her fixed than send her to the scrap heap. I mean, besides the head gasket, she runs beautifully. So happy crying The only downside is it took some finagling to figure out how to get me and my brother home from college and then find a way back to here to get the car, but we have it worked out now. YES.

YES. I cannot hear or read the name Mable without immediately thinking of the Goldfinger song.

Streamjumper I cannot hear or read the name Mable without immediately thinking of the Goldfinger song. Upon immediate Youtubing, I have come to the conclusion that that song... is ridiculous.

The president of our college announced that, starting with my graduating class, seniors will have to pay in order to be allowed to walk at graduation.
#1. I'd think that $40k a year (plus the 2k tuition raise next year) counts as "paying to walk." #2. If they're looking to make up a $3,000,000 deficit, they could try shutting off computers at night, and turning off the lights in buildings that are locked all night and weekend. Seriously. Energy saving tips alone could cut their spending by more than charging us would bring in.

That's what we did my last year at college when the school refused to give the teachers raises (they were already underpaid as it was).

Graduation Fees are pretty common within most colleges; they usually go towards paying for your diploma, the diploma cover, the shipping of your diploma, and the commencement ceremony. I paid $50.

That's what we did my last year at college when the school refused to give the teachers raises (they were already underpaid as it was). I do agree that we need to have something done about it. I understand there's a deficit but saying "Well, we'll just add even MORE fees for the class of 2010 and see how much that makes us!" isn't exactly fair. Especially considering just how much money here really is wasted, how they're constantly raising both tuition and other fees while dropping scholarships, and ugh.
One of the high-up professors in the English department was shocked at the announcement. And then promptly announced she should charge us all $150 to take our final exam, and $500 for an A.
@Scully: This is not the graduation fee. We already have a graduation fee. This is an extra $75+ added on to be allowed to walk only.

Ok then, yeah; that's a load of bullshit. The graduation fee is what you pay to walk - as it goes towards the ceremony. Which is where you walk. <******** that s**t. You be switchin' schools anyways.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. If I DO get into SFU and my school asks again why I'm leaving, I'm referencing this situation.
