"Nothing out of the ordinary. They appeared dead, but had no stumble as the undead would, and some of them communed, though it was uncommon."
Baranar shivered lightly, not unlike a bird shaking itself quickly. "Something to kill, yes, but we don't know what all they can do. The few I say chase after animals used only bare hands, but with the intelligence that can be guessed, it will not take long before they upgrade."

"Then we find one, cut it open, poke it a bit." Erica turned the spoon so the reflected light was hitting Baranar in the eye. She smiled, unusually tranquil. "They chase after creatures, you said? So they would follow one into a trap, perhaps?"

"They chase after creatures, you said? So they would follow one into a trap, perhaps?" Baranar nodded. "It's a possibility, I suppose, if you managed to single one out, and present a well-laid trap."

Erica tossed the spoon aside, "Then I suppose I should go out for a time," She grinned, "I have been....restless"

Erica walked back into the HQ, her lip was split and bleeding, her jacket looked like part of it was wet, and she had a large metal bat in her hand. She dropped it at the door and then headed up the stairs to the nursery.
Her whole demeanor softened as she found Ora napping in her crib. She picked her up and held her close, ignoring the cranky noises Ora always made when she was woken up. "Shhh, Momma loves you, babe, momma will always love you." She rocked her, Ora's noises calming down as she started to fall back asleep. Erica continued whispering in Ora's ear, "..and she'll do anything it takes to keep you safe, anything it takes."
Her eyes wandered to one of the many green toys Ora had collected. "Where are you, you b*****d?"

"Never better," She lied. She put Ora down, and whiped the blood from her chin, which had trailed from her lip. She placed a hand on his arm, holding it to her for a moment, before she pushed away from him.
"I got something for you," She dug a hand into her pocket pulling out a bracelet. "It's a silly thing, but it reminded me of you...and I thought it might remind you of me, someday." She ended on a strange note. She held it out, it was a black leather band with a blood-red garnet set in a silver wing.

My apologies)) A green stuffed bear sat on a chair in the corner, head drooped down. The head slowly raised, looking over at the three of them. "I planned on keeping my hands out of this, but I'll answer your call, Sufference." The bear said. It's mouth did not move, but the voice's origin was unmistakable.

Seth cautiously walks throught the gates of the mansion and towards the front door his eyes constantly darting from letf to right then straight ahead. until he gets to the door and pauses for a long moment wondering if this it is smart coming here after all Xeen don't really like Seth and vice versa.

"forget it, it was stupid." She stepped back and dropped the bracelet to the floor, "we'll discuss things later."
She turned to the more pressing matter, the green bear in the corner. She picked up Ora and walked closer to the bear. Ora wriggled in her arms, trying to get to the toy, her chubby hands outstretched. Erica held her firm. "I have called for you because I am beginning to doubt my ability to keep this child safe, from whatever is out there, and from myself."

"Really? Interesting..." The bear's paw came up, almost comedically stroking it's chin.
"I think I'll inquire why. This is an interesting turn of events. How do you find yourself unqualified?"

"I am stained with blood." She nodded to the wet spots on her jacket, and splattered on the bat by the crib. " I've tried, but I cannot change what I am. I've hidden it, I've burried it, and it still comes back, and it comes back with a vengeance." She put Ora down, and watched her crawl towards the bear. "I like to watch them squirm, I like to hear them scream, I like the pain, I like to kill."
"I am everything I hate. I am Henry. For Xeen, I am U'Daria agian. I weigh him down like that cursed stone, stealing his freedom, his identity. I can feel his resentment growing. He broke free and tossed it into the ocean. I can't survive a fall like that."
She watched as Ora started chewing on one of the stuffed bear's paws.
"Do you think with all this, I'd be able to protect Ora from what's slaughtering the mainland? I don't know if I'll survive. I don't know if even want to."

The bear began to chuckle, and the chuckle grew into a laugh. Soon the entire room was filled with the bear's scornful laugh. The laugh quieted slowly, until it was gone, the room silent. "I take humor in your plight, Sufference. You seek to convince me of your evil, of the terrible deeds you have done, and continue to do. You know that I wish for this child to be my avatar, and you seek to use that against me, to insure that even if you die, that I will take care of little Ora." The bear's hand raised, softly stroking Ora's hair. "You do not wish for your life to end unless you believe Ora to be in capable hands, and you know as well as I that there are none more capable for protection than mine." The bear's black, bead-eyes stared up into Erica's, a dark presence shining behind them. "You're request is denied. You still owe me a debt, Erica Morrow, and I intend to collect it, and nothing you can do shall force my hand." The voice grew in volume, it's calm demeanor surging into a cold voice of command. "You will live through this, and you will care for your child, or the mercy of whatever gods hold favor with you shall not spare you my wrath."

Baranar slowly walked into the room.
"Erica, Xeen, I'm sorry to interupt you two, but I've been sensing a presence around the....dear gods." Baranar turned to the corner in which the bear sat, his eyes wide, mouth agape.
"I.....it's him...." He managed to stutter out, pressed up against the wall.
