Earendil thought about it for a moment, then smiled and stepped forward.

"I have an idea," he murmured. He pulled back the blanket of the bed just enough to reveal the pillow. "Why not put it on the pillow, and then tuck it under the blanket? That way it won't get thrown around, but it's not out of sight either."

"That's a great idea!" Miyuki nodded as she placed her doll on the pillow and then began tucking it in.

This way she could always see her dolly, Miyuki was still quite attached to it, even though she didn't carry it around everywhere she went like she used to.

Earendil still found it a bit creepy that Miyuki slept with an effigy of him every night, but on the other hand he found it kind of sweet.

"All set?" he smiled at her. "Ready for something to eat?"

"Yes!" Miyuki replied hopping up and down, "I'm hungry!"

Now that she was reminded of eating that is.

Earendil laughed heartily. "Calm yourself! You'll make yourself sick if you're like that when you're eating. Now we've got several weeks on the ship again, so you'll have lots of time to do everything."

He patted her on the head, then ushered her towards the door. "Now go on to the galley."

"Okay..." the kitsune calmed down long enough to be ushered out the door, but she hurried down to the galley instead.

Lin had to laugh the moment Miyuki was out of the door, "Still excitable as ever..."

She waited for Earendil to go first and then she would follow him out.

"As always," Earendil agreed, heading up to the galley.

Over the course of the next six weeks, they worked on lessons and training, and even Amalirahc got himself roped into some of it - he offered to help teach Miyuki the Ancient Tongue, and begged to train with her.

At long last, the island came into view. When it was still a tiny speck on the horizon, even to the elves, Amalirahc came tearing into the room Miyuki was sharing with her parents.

"Miyukiiiiiii!" he squealed, interrupting her lessons. "We're here we're here! The island is there! We're here! Come and seeeeeeeeeeee!"

"Really?" Miyuki was about to get up when she was yanked back down by her mother.

They had been in the middle of reviewing some writing.

Lin looked at Amalirahc but she wasn't annoyed perse, "Just one question before she goes, do you see it just as a speck or can you actually see the island."

Elves she knew saw far and there wasn't a point for Miyuki to go see if she couldn't really see it.

Amalirahc looked thoughtful. "Umm ... if we go up the mast we can see it?" he suggested, hoping he could get away with it. "I bet even she can!" he added quickly, his eyes bright with excitement.

Lin looked at him, mainly because she wasn't sure if she wanted Miyuki yet to be up on the mast. Even though heights was something she was use to.

"Amalirahc, you didn't answer my question. It has nothing to do with how well you can see it, you can see much farther than us."

So far that sometimes Lin felt that elves made most races look blind.

"But couldn't I try?" Miyuki asked hopefully, she wanted to see the island too.

"I did answer," Amalirahc pouted. "You asked if it's a speck or an island, and I told you!"

He paused, and then added quickly, "I bet it's bigger now!"

He clasped his hands behind his back and fidgeted, bouncing lightly on his toes, eager to go back up and see it again - but he wanted Miyuki to come with him!

"You said, if you went on the mast you can see it, and posed it as question. You never answered it," Lin glanced at Miyuki.

She tried her best not to sigh because judging by the tail waving she was not going to focus now.

"Go on, but be careful if you're going up on the mast, listen to any grown up that is on there," Lin replied.

"Yay!" Miyuki quickly hopped off the chair to hurry out with Amalirahc.

Amalirahc squealed with glee and grabbed Miyuki's hand, dragging her after him as he ran back up on deck.

They didn't even have to go up on the mast: even from the deck, the island was visible now, barely more than a speck, but definitely distinguishable as an island, lush and green.

Lin sighed a bit more before getting up and following the children at a more sedated pace. It wasn't like she had anything to do now anyways.

Miyuki was already looking at island trying to make out as much detail as she could from where they were, though it wasn't a lot.

Amalirahc leaned over the side of the ship, his knuckles white even beneath his gray skin as he gripped it tightly. They were going at a brisk pace, thanks to a strong wind whipped up by Roydon, and it wasn't long before the island was clearly visible.

Earendil had been up on the bridge with Arwen and Roydon, and now he came down to join Lin and the children.

"Now there's a welcome sight," he grinned.
