ok i have a question since its already partway through what is supposed to be spirit week yet the threads for the great hall fighting the giants and fighting the poltergeist are still yet to be opened is spirit week going to be extended or are the mods going to open it soon and continue as if there were no days skipped also i have a question as to why certain elements were chosen for the houses it says in the great hall that Gryffindor = Fire; Slytherin = Water; Ravenclaw = Air; and Hufflepuff = Earth now im just curious as to why those elements were chosen for those houses griffendor fits very well with theirs sltherin house colors are green the color of earth .... ravenclaw house colors are blue the color of water .... hufflepuff house colors are yellow the color most associated with air so im just curious was the elements chosen for the house characteristics or for some other reason?

Spirit Week was pushed back because there was a glitch in posting in the "action post" style, which was needed for the games. We can't play the games without it so...that delayed the event.
Spirit Week is still a week long, or 5 days it's just pushed back. The mods are deciding on the dates, it's going to be soon though. There will be announcement about the date or it probably be opening soon....
About the elements.... On Harry Potter Wiki it explains briefly why each house has that element..
Gryffindor - "Gryffindor corresponds roughly to the element of fire, which may partly be the reason for its colours. Another reason could be that Gryffindor's colours, red and gold, are that of the author's native Scotland. " (Gryffindor)
Slytherin-"Slytherin corresponds roughly with the element of water." (Slytherin)
Hufflepuff- Hufflepuff corresponds roughly to the element of earth. (Hufflepuff)
Ravenclaw - "Ravenclaw roughly corresponds with the element of air. " (Ravenclaw)
We didn't just randomly chose the elements , we based it off of information we dug up. It doesn't always go by color, it's just the facts we discovered. I personally think Hufflepuff fits Earth better than Air and Ravenclaw does associate with birds so Air element would fit.

████████ ██ █ ▍▍❤ I HAVE SUGGESTIONS & QUESTIONS!
I have another question about signing up for classes. It doesn't look like there are very many teachers, if any, for this term, but all of the threads say DO NOT POST; even the ones that have a teacher it looks like. Are we not going to be able to sign up for classes for this term since we don't have enough teachers?
I think there should be a thread in the Halls of Learning specifically for signing up for classes. Like, it could have the classes/teachers available for sign ups listed and then ask students to specify the term/year and fill out the forms to request taking the classes ... or something like that
Also, I think it would be a really good idea to recruit teachers/HM staff if we sent out a guild announcement to get the word out. It could also be a good way to publicize the HM to get more readers

James;; Also, the elements make more sense if you think about it like this:
Slytherin is the opposite of Gryffindor, and because Gryffindor's element is fire (for reasons already told), and the opposite of fire is water, then Slytherin's would naturally be water. xD
Hufflepuff's mascot is a Badger, and badgers burrow and make their homes in the ground. Hence, earth.
Ravenclaw's mascot is the eagle, and eagles fly: air.
But no, we didn't make them up. >w<
As for spirit week, we are VERY sorry. We really tried to get it up on time, but gaia glitches got in the way. D; It will be open soon though. :3
xOmishu_uhsimOx;; ((Do you have a RP name I can call you?)) And we are aware we are short of, teachers, we are in fact discussing what we will do at the moment. As far as signing up, classes don't usually open sign ups until classes officially start, or a week - a few days beforehand. (If I remember correctly.)
An announcement has already been planned to be sent out, and I do believe we mentioned something about teaching in it. (Or was that the last one? xD) Either way, we will still have some sort of classes, even if we are still short of teachers when classes begin. W'll work it out. C:

████████ ██ █ ▍▍❤ my RP character's name is Leonette {Leo for short} but most people call me Omi :3
I thought I saw somewhere that you had to be signed up before the term started; I must have been mistaken.
Okay :3 I just know that the HM is struggling with workers and readers so it would be good to advertise it more. I really look forward to taking the classes :3 I hope you do get everything worked out
Thank you for answering my questions!

James: If you think you can handle teaching two classes, then you should post your application with what you want to teach and all your other info in the Staff Room.
(I would personally be fine with you teaching two classes but, last I heard Icee was thinking up a way to make this Term more special ((Point wise)) due to the lack of Teachers. I'll ask her about it again.)

❤ ▍▍ █ ██ ████████ Icee is late, but fighting sleep....so here we go! -Classes are up. We were just a bit behind... the amount of teachers is unfortunate, but it won't affect anything (other than the amount of housepoints up for grabs)
- One thing about HPGoG is that we try to minimize the number of threads as much as possible...helps us stay organized. One general thread will be much harder to keep up with it, than each class having sign ups. For instance, if a person is only interested in taking Charms, why should they fill out forms and go here and there, when they can just sign up in the class (with the teacher's instructions)? It also makes it easier on teachers because they don't have to keep checking a particular thread to know who signed up for their class.
-Teachers are publicized lots through guild announcements. I don't think we've ever publicized the HM yet though. SOunds like a good idea to me. If the next issue is as good as the last, I'm sure Adonis will stick a little note in the guild announcement.

Oshenukhar Burst down those closet doors once and for all ... I was told to post this Idea here... the idea is this: Family Tree Search Services. It is an Idea for a shop, to be like the Hogwarts ID Cards shop. The shop would help HPGOG members find out their family tree and create one for use here in the guild, I could even make it small enough to be posted in your signature. If you like this idea please let me know.
... and stand up and start to fight. ~ Harvey Milk To be honest, I agree with the others... I don't really like this idea. I think it would be more for "discussion" purposes, rather than an actual shop.
