Ananda walked quickly into the dining hall, her stomach still letting out angry grumbling sounds. She wasn't quite sure what meal it was time for, but her stomach was demanding something, and since she had just woken up, she decided breakfast would be nice. She ordered a huge breakfast: a three-egg omlette, homefries, a dish of fruit salad, a biscuit with sausage gravy, and a large cup of mint tea. Loading it all onto a tray, she took her meal to a booth and sat down. She wondered idly if the guy she had been talking to really was going to come looking for her. Thinking back, she couldn't even remember what they had talked about, or what his name was...if he had even told her. "I must have been really out of it," she muttered, starting in on her breakfast with gusto.

August's first meal at school, and for once she thanked herself for being a little late to school. There was barely anyone in the dining hall, and it looked comfortable to her. She timidly approavhed the big machine with her brand new ID card and swiped it through the slot. Now what? she thought, but instantly the machine sprang to life. "Order please." It sputtered in a metalic voice. "Um..." "Order please." August was feeling a bit intimitated. "What could I have?" She asked, not wanting to upset it. "Order please." She sighed. "Two all-wheat panckaes with maple syrup." She said and it instantly popped out. She was amazed, she had never seen better service. She picked up the hot plate and went for a table. She wouldn't normally have gone for any social interaction really, but she wanted to get off to a good start so she walked right up to a table where a girl was sitting (Amanda.) "Um....hi...I'm August....Could I sit here?" she barely managed to say through her nervouness.

Ananda looked up from the food she had been devouring. Now that she had eaten a little, she was starting to feel a little more human, and she managed to smile at the new girl after quickly swallowing a bite of egg. "Um...go right ahead. As long as you don't mind me not talking much until I've eaten...it's been awhile since my last meal. As you can probably tell," she said, waving her fork at the huge breakfast she had ordered. "I'm Ananda, pleased to meet you," she added, taking a bite out of her apple.

She smiled. Not talking much was exactally what she had wanted for a while. She sat down at the table across from Amanda in a coushy sheet and smiled, delicately placing her fork into her pankcakes and trying to eat nicely. She wasn;t all the hungry anyways, usually her breakfast was just toast. (It was the one thing all the boarding schools and orphanages just couldn't ruin.)
((Which page is Amandas profile on? August's is top of 36 on the profiles))

((It's in the secondary profiles, page...16, I think.))
Ananda nodded, polishing off the last of her omlette and starting in on the biscuit and gravy. She was finally starting to fill up, and she sighed in contentment. Now that she was eating, her headache was almost gone, and the last of her stiffness from her various naps was leaving. The only things she didn't seem to be recovering were her memories of the time after she had been woken up the day before, which she could still only remember vaguely. She studied the girl across from her from beneath lowered eyelashes, deciding there was no way she could be a threat...or sent by her father, but that she'd never seen her around before either.

August finished only a half of her pancake and was feeling very full. She had never eaten much, or giving and excessive amount to eat, and so she rarely ate more than one small serving. Still, she felt ashamed to throw away all the simply delicious food. She tried to eat another bite but was too full, so she got up, quickly throwing away her leftovers and returning to the table with a glass of orange juice. Still, she remained silent.

Finishing her own breakfast, Ananda began to stack her dishes carefully on her tray. Since August didn't seem to want to start a conversation, and it was starting to get very quiet, she began to talk softly. "I feel like a total pig now, after seeing you eat. I hope you forgive me, but I'm really not sure when the last time I had a meal was." She got rid of her dishes, and returned to the table, sipping at her tea. A smile crossed her face, as the hot tea helped wake her up.

"No, no, it's okay....It's just, well..." she started talking really fast, "I just grew up in orphanages and boarding schools and they don't feed you lots. I mean, I'd eat more, but I ate my fill." She rubbed her thin stomach. "I'm just like that....weird." She looked down, sadly. "Where'd you come from...before here?"

Ananda's face fell. "Home," she said softly. "And I envy you. I hated it there." All of her worries about her father finding her rushed back, and she bit her lip, starting to worry again. What if her finds me here? Is he going to come here himself to deliver the whatever-it-is to Rille? And what if he finds one of my friends here? They'd be in as much danger as me... She shook her head, trying to clear out the old memories and bad thoughts, but it didn't work. She kept hearing her dad's voice in her mind...'Kids like you can't have friends. Only enemies. Nobody'll ever take you as a friend, ever.'

Souno slowly opened the door to the dining hall, he wasn't ready to go to the dorms just yet. He was rubbing his ribs from where his brother had kneed him when they fought at the gates and he had a sad look on his face. "Hmm....food, sounds nice." He walked up to the machine and saw the scanner for his ID. He swiped it and the machine said, "Order please." "what do you have?" "Order please." "I asked you a --!" "Order please." "What can I order!" "Order please." Souno yelled at the machine, "Fine! Deviled Parrot Eggs, go make that!" "Thank you," the machine said as the plate slit out onto the counter top. Souno had a confused look on his face as he stared at the eggs, "Oh....ok then." He grabbed the plate and turned away, embarrased at his outburst. He looked around the room and saw a few people eating, but quickly found a table off to the side where he could sit alone. This day wasn't exactly turning out to be what he had hoped it would be.

August knew she had screwed upa gain. She could tell by the look on the girls face that she had asked a question that maybe made her feel uncomfortable. So, to distract herself, she waved at a guy walking in who seemed to be having the same problem with the food machine that she had. Then she turned back to the girl, looking with simpathy for a moment. "You would've starved." She said solemly, one of the first things she said without being nervous, stuttery or talking too fast.

"Oh, probably, but...well, never mind. That's over and done with now. Sorry for weirding out on you there, I just had some bad memories." Ananda shrugged, looking back up at her. Poor kid looks scared half to death, she thought. I didn't get that mad looking, did I? Guess I must've. Damn. "I'm not going to bite you or anything," she said gently. "I swear. You don't have to be so nervous." This August girl was starting to remind her a lot of Rille, the way she seemed so nervous talking, and she gave her the same huge grin that always helped calm her cousin down.

"What's......like what's.......nevermind," she stuttered, not knowing herself quite what she was asking in reality. "You don't want to talk, I presume?" She looked at the empty table in front of her. "Do you have a dorm?" She asked, eager to cahgne the subject.

"I don't mind talking, now that I feel like a human instead of a stomach on legs," she laughed. "I do have a dorm, but I haven't actually gotten around to finding it yet. I think I'm sharing it with my cousin." She frowned. "I actually have no idea. I don't even know what number it is. I'd have to go ask her." Shrugging, she said, "I like sleeping outdoors better anyways...well, mostly," she added, remembering the past day's events. "When I can find a quiet place."
