Would my pokemon team suck too badly if I completely ignored EVs?
I know what they are and how to get them and all, but I'd rather not spend hours grinding mindlessly. >_>

Regulust I_love_Inuyasha1 Regulust Zephyrkitty Regulust Zephyrkitty It's always been able to learn Tackle. Even back in first gen. Really? I don't remember mine ever learning tackle.I was raising one to get a Gyarados last time I played Red. It learned Tackle around level 15. Oh I see, well then they aren't nearly as useless as I once thought they were. They can also learn flail at level 30 I think. Flail? What does that do?Deals more damage when the user has less HP.

Zephyrkitty My cousin probably misheard whoever told him the trick, then. Who cares who misheard it, it didn't work anyway. XD EDIT: Also I never told you about that cousin.

The less there is, the more damage it'll deal. That's pretty cool.

Special attack EV's are really easy to get from Haunters in the Spring Cave in D/P. It is just like level grinding, but with more running.

They can be used to give any pokemon the edge in a battle, or keep a pokemon in one. For example, if you wanted to give a Raikou a boost in its Speed, you would simply train it against pokemon that's speed stat is dominant. Another example is if someone wanted to help Tyranitar land a bigger hit with Crunch, which would have that person battle against pokemon that are more dominant in Special Attack.

Unless you face another player who's EV skilled to the max, you'll do just fine. It really isn't necessary if you just play the game against the NPCs.

I don't think I've ever leveled a pokemon up past 70. >_> And I'd like to battle against you guys some since back when I was obsessed with D/P I wasn't in the Cult so I never got a chance to. ...wait. I just realized I don't know where my copy of Diamond is. gonk

for every 4 Effort Points you get towards a certain stat you get a point in that stat so when you level up that extra point will be added on. You can get 510 EPs total, and you can only use 255 in any one stat, so that one pokemon just can't have 999 in any one stat. The limits force you to EV in more than one stat.

Hmm then I wonder if that explains my Pahirisu's interesting level of Special Defense.
He's stood up to some good attacks and saved my arse at the last moment.
