Well all I've seen is a summary - it just seems like the type of story that would be interesting to me.

@Luna: I actually take issue with The Invisibles D: I mean it's interesting story-wise, but there are a lot of things said about it that I don't feel are well-deserved [/Spider-proofs that statement]

@Kane: Happy birthday!

Edit: Finished Transmet. Still trying to gather up my exact overall impression of what I did and did not like and how I feel about it in the end.
Overall I enjoyed it though. It was a good read.

Oh yeah, I've managed to check out a few more things, and I've got this to say...

Ristorante Paradisio - Pretty good. The art style is nice, but laid back, as is the show itself. The attention to Rome's architecture is an excellent touch. The story is relatively easygoing, but could easily work itself up to a pitch. I'm kinda liking what this looks like it could become. Rae, Pi, and possibly Kimibashi might like this one. I'm not too sure about Scully's tastes, but this might carry flavor she's cravin' to savor.

Tayutama - So far fairly predictable, but cute. Loose plot concept runs as follows. Shinto priest and Fox goddess team up 500 years ago to seal three big troublemaking demons (who were really stirring up the normally just mischievous local spirits) in a set of holy trees that uses the goddess as part of the binding. Cue modern times when the priest's kin run the local temple to the goddess and the set of trees (long buried, possibly by mudslide) are in the middle of a construction project. Young heir to the family goes to placate the now stirring forces, meets goddess, and is in the process of helping renew the bonds when things go wrong, trees are damaged, and the three badasses escape. The goddess, now weakened, splinters off a fragment of herself to help re-imprison the demons... which ends up as a loli version of herself. Hijinks ensue, lesser spirits are somewhat restrained, and in cute-loli fashion she extracts an oath from the descendant of the priest she loved. Namely, that he'll marry her when she's bigger. Cue the next morning, when rest and her presence in a temple to herself have restored much of her power... with predictable effects on a body created entirely by and linked to her spiritual power. And now the oath is in full effect. Cute, amusing, and the little spazz spirits are fairly funny.

Shangri-la - Tough to say much, except that the production values are pretty ******** high. As far as they've (sorta) explained so far, pollution has gotten to the point where many cities are now partially underwater. Think Venice, just with less planning. Every country has an allowed amount of carbon emissions and any variances are severely taxed by the international government, with some broker companies serving to shuffle carbon allowance credits from nation to nation for a fee. The last element is a rogue city that isn't too keen on the current draconian controls on everything. I'm hoping things come together a bit in the next few eps, because leaving this too disjointed would be a horrible waste. This one seems like something Zel, Spider, Kin, and Psy would like. Maybe Rae, Dill, and Scully too.

Valkyria Chronicles - I'm still holding my opinion on this one. Could be good, could be utter s**t. Its all going to hinge on how they're managing things. So far there were a few moments that were too hamfisted for my tastes, and I don't think they're the ones that intentionally played that way.

07 Ghost - Got it on the computer, will be watching tonight. My having read some of the manga might make this a hard call though.

Eden of the East - Possibly the tightest production values this season. Not only did Washington DC look like DC, but American characters were played by actual english speaking (and American) voice actors. Even nicer was that their english was coherent. While their lines were a little slower and more enunciated than they might have been in real life, they were natural enough to make that reasonable, given that the Japanese were supposed to be able to have a chance at keeping up with them. Well ******** played, Japan. So far the main character has equal portions Jason Bourne and a slightly less insane Shinobu Morita (from Honey and Clover... which is furthered a bit by the character designs for the show being from H&C's creator). With apparently self-inflicted amnesia and nothing but a gun and a satellite phone of questionable technology (and charged with 8.2 billion yen of digital currency) and origin he appears across the street from the White house, where the heroine, a normal Japanese girl on a school trip to the US is being accosted by two DC cops. By the end of the episode they're in an airport when a nearby television shows them that Japan has been hit by a terrorist missile attack... end episode. This one looks to have quite a bit of suspense and political intrigue going for it. I think I'll be seriously in for this one. Kin, Rae, and Zel will probably want to check this out, but I suspect that this one's got Spider's name written all the ******** over it.

Then I suggest it. If you're looking for super relevant Middle Eastern commentary/personal reflection written by a Middle Easterner I would not suggest it; Cairo has a "Peace in the Middle East" theme that could have been handled much worse (and much better) then it was, it had me worried half way through, but it is indeed interesting.

Stream: Thanks for posting your thoughts, I think I'll hold off on Ristorante Paradisio but Eden of the East sounds rather good.

To this day I'm still not sure why I fell in love with Transmet. It's not normally the kind of thing I'd read. Stream was the one who originally picked up the first 2 TPB, and I didn't read them for about 4 months. But when I did...it was all over. I NEEDED to finish the story. xd

The Invisibles was an interesting experience for me. After I read the first volume...and then reread it shortly thereafter because I needed to make sure of something, I actually had to put it down and didn't go for the 2nd volume for about 8 or 9 months. All in all, it took me probably a few years to get all the volumes and finish the story. And although I did like it, I'm still a little ambivalent about the story.

I've sold $60$85 worth of stuff on Amazon just by unloading a couple games I'd finished, and a near-perfect set of Zelda dvds surprised
Tomorrow I'mma go see if I can sell some used textbooks to a bookstore down the road. I've got TONS and if I could make $50+ that would be fantastic.
Then in a couple weekends, I can take some clothes to the consignment shop to sell now that I'm slimming down! whee

@Luna: I started The Invisibles over a year ago - I picked up the first volume in December of 2007 I think. I own the rest of it because Kin bought me a couple volumes and I finished up, but I find myself unable to immerse myself in it really. I dunno - I might just restart the whole thing - I'm only two or three volumes in.

Finally got to read your big long post, Stream surprised
Ristorante Paradisio and Eden of the East seem particularly interesting to me. I'll really have to find time to try to check some of these out. I never really get to explore much these days - hell, I've been bouncing around excitedly because I finally got to find a comic and poke into it instead of burying my face in 19th century literature, writing papers gonk
