Zelyhon So, new season of anime. For those who don't know all of what's out this season, here's something that might help: http://thenullset.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/spring2009v2.jpgSo, what's on everyone's plate to watch this season? I've only got a couple series I'm enthusiastic about watching: Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: I really enjoyed the first time around, and this one promises to stick to the manga. I've heard good things about the FMA Manga, but haven't read it, so I'm eagerly watching this one weekly. Plus, Funimation is going to be putting the subtitled episodes up on their website for free a few days after they air in Japan, which is something I'm really interested in. It not only pretty much eliminates the ethical problems that fansubs present, but serves as an interesting direction for the industry. I know that a few other examples of this have happened, but this is the first series that has tempted me with it. Well, first if another certain series hadn't aired first... Hayate no Gotoku! Season 2: I enjoyed the first season of Hayate, and the second series seems to promise a continuation of the insanity, so I'll be watching. Plus, Crunchyroll has the license to put the subs for this series out very quickly after the episode airs in Japan. Again, since this is an official release, it doesn't present the same sort of problems Fansubs tend to. The subs they had, though, weren't really the best. I won't let that deter me, though. Guin Saga: I don't know much about this series, but another anime forum I go on posted some discussion about it, which made it seem interesting enough to check out at least for a couple episodes. Plus, I haven't had a good "fantasy" series in a while, so it'll be a nice change. There was also a trailer put out in English a little while ago, which means that this series may be released online, similar to the two previous entries, but dubbed. If that happens, I'll be watching the dub (assuming, of course, it's listenable), because as interesting as official subbed versions a few days afterwords is, an official dub within a week of the Japanese airing is even moreso. That's the sort of innovation I want to support. K-On!: This one's on a trial basis at the moment. Kyoto Animation's last series, Clannad and Clannad ~After Story~, was the best series I've seen in quite a while. Great characters, lots of growth, really enjoyable comedy for a not-comedy series, and awe-inspiring animation. K-On doesn't seem to follow most of these trends, but at very least, I'll still give it a shot. The animation quality's good (as always), even if the character designs aren't. It'll get a few episodes to prove itself, but the first episode wasn't really enthralling. Wish they'd gone for the next season of Haruhi instead. Valkyria Chronicles: Normally, I'd be wary of video-game adaptations, but VC is one of the games making me want to buy a PS3 sometime in the near future. It seems like an interesting story from the little I know, and the art style (particularly in the game, but also the anime to some extent) is very interesting. I've got the first episode, but haven't watched it yet. That's about it for me. What about all of you who still regularly watch anime? With my search in trying to track down Emma: A Historical Romance on DVD I haven't even looked at what new anime is being released, but since you posted a convenient link... ninja
Eden of the East, Restorante Paradiso, and (obviously) Jewel Pets have caught my eye. 8D

I've got the first episode, but haven't watched it yet. That's about it for me. What about all of you who still regularly watch anime? I'm sure I'll be getting an earful of FMA, so I'll probably wait on that. I'm down with K-ON! (so goddamn moe) unless they find a way to ******** it up somehow and Hayate. I might check out Guin and Valkyria in due time, but I've got other fish to fry... and some of them fry back. Saki - Think lucky star minus the Seinfeld script, plus competitive mahjong, and beating up YuGiOh to swipe special effects. Cute, looks funny, and has an interesting hook... namely that one of the characters is actually a mahjong genius who really doesn't like the game and compulsively scores +/- 0 points in every hand, despite ridiculous odds. Basquash - I mostly watched this out of a policy for giving any mecha show a try as well as its funky style, but I think I'm already hooked and fated for minionhood on the next ep. Nike helped bring us a show with basketball played by stripped-down mecha with a totally street style and great ******** music. Natsu no Arashi - Jin Kobayashi can do no wrong in my current opinion. The first ep was confusing as ********, but the several classic anime styles are pleasing to mine elder eyes and the plot of several time traveling girls and a geeky male lead has promise. Asura Cryin' - Decent first episode full of confusion, some explanation promised for next episode, mysterious supernatural mecha in a hyperdense suitcase, several strange factions, and a cute ghost girl. I'll be following this one for sure unless they find a way to ******** it up somehow. Queen's Blade is my unrepentant eye-candy pick of the season. I anticipate the plot to such, but the animation and character designs entice me... such round, lush, bouncy... eyes. Yeah, that's the ticket, eyes. Honest. I'll also be checking out Eden of the East, Shangri-La, Ristorante Paradisio (if anyone's gonna sub it), 07-Ghost (manga's decent so far, might as well...), and Tayutama. I'll also definitely be watching Spice & Wolf 2 (mmm... delicious wolf goddess...) and Koihime Musou (mmmm... delicious female chinese heroes...). Once I finish the episodes of To Love Ru I've got, I'll probably check out the OVA for them as well. However, your list lacks one thing. True Mazinger/Shin Mazinger - Go Nagai. Re-imagining/remaking the first super robot show ever. Refurbished childhood (the original Mazinger Z, dubbed and edited as Tranzor Z, was my first anime back in 85). Kabuto ********' Koji. If I need to explain why anyone should watch this, then they probably won't enjoy it. Move along, citizen... there's nothing to see here.

Due to uber-stress, I am totally taking relaxation time this weekend. I'm leaving school early tomorrow afternoon. I took out eight dvds from the library (Stanley Kubrick's version of Lolita, p.s., It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The Magic School Bus: Creepy, Crawly Fun!, Knocked Up, A Very Long Engagement, Girl With a Pearl Earring, and Wild Hogs), and I'm going to bury myself in Transmetropolitan, The Invisibles, and possibly Fables (which I'm particularly excited about!) if I can manage to snag the full up-to-date run from a friend. If Spider's internet comes back at any point, I'll probably prod him into Buffy too. Reading, watching, and art time! whee
Also, a few of the new series look really good. I'm wishing I had more time for anime - maybe I'll pick a few for the summer.

If you don't know, don't ask. Only thing that's caught my interest so far this year. I'll look around a bit at recommendations, but that will probably be my week by week staple.

Oh god. It was the matzah ball soup she was raving about, that's right. We were going to attend a seder for my Judaism class but there's no community one this year so instead we just got the night off.
HAVE FUN AT YOUR PASSOVER, SKIZZ.
