Hey, AG! It's now Spring Break! Guess what I decided to do for the break? That's right! Get Appendicitis! XD
On Friday, after classes ended, I headed away from school and back home. Starting on Saturday, I had some stomach pain that got worse as the day went on. On Sunday, after having a bit of soup, I started shivering uncontrollably and threw up, at which point my parents took me to Urgent Care, where they did blood analysis and gave me an IV to get me less dehydrated. In the blood analysis, my white blood cell count was a little high, and the doctor did a rebound test (read: poking you in the stomach, holding the hand there, then removing the hand quickly and seeing if taking the hand away causes pain). He wasn't comfortable just letting me go, and so sent me over to the emergency room, where they had a working CT scanner to check if I had Appendicitis.
I went over there and had to wait for something like 2 hours in the waiting room. I wasn't in pain, but it was still annoying. Eventually, I get admitted back and put into (another) uncomfortable bed-thing while they ask a lot of the same questions Urgent Care did and get me ready for the scan. The scan was...not pleasant for two main reasons. For one, I appear to not have a circulatory system. At urgent care, it took one try to find a vein in the back of my hand. Not the best kind of vein for an IV, but it works. At the emergency room, it took five different pokes to find a good vein, since mine don't show up on my arms. Secondly, they wanted two kinds of contrast: IV and Rectal, which I really don't want to describe.
So they do the scan and it turns out I do have appendicitis. I'm scheduled for surgery the next day and get checked in to a (much more comfortable) bed upstairs, where I spent almost all of yesterday. The surgery's done and I'm already at home doing well. There weren't any problems, but apparently my appendix was pretty close to bursting, so it was good it was caught before that. So I'm going to spend most of my Spring Break resting and recovering from surgery now. XD

That's crap, but I guess in a way it's good that it happened now and you didn't have to miss classes? gonk Lots of time for reading and...uh...napping?
Yeah, that's just crap. sweatdrop
Somebody got to cut you open and it wasn't me? That's even sadder! :tinygonk:

Good that you caught it before bursting, bad that you had it at all. At least you can be waited upon hand and foot for your vacation though. Did you ask for a little silver bell to summon your minions, er family? Quote: I went over there and had to wait for something like 2 hours in the waiting room. Somebody got to cut you open and it wasn't me? That's even sadder! :tinygonk: Somehow I knew that you'd object to someone other than you surgerizing AG people. Sorry, but I couldn't wait to get notice to you. I promise I'll let you know in advance next time I need some amputation, whether it's internal or external. And I'm mostly glad it happened while school wasn't going. While I don't like missing break, there's no way I could afford the surgery recovery time during school. I'm not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds for about a week (which, incidentally, will make moving stuff back after break interesting) and a couple of my books might break that requirement on their own, even without binders and such. XD Streamjumper Good that you caught it before bursting, bad that you had it at all. At least you can be waited upon hand and foot for your vacation though. But it's so tasty! gonk Don't have a bell yet, but I will have family around for the break. So I will get some of that "family waiting on me" goodness. XD Rosamaine Make sure you rest Zely!!!! gonk Good to hear it went well and you caught before it burst. *hugs* I will. I'm very glad that they caught it before it burst too. I was actually pretty surprised I had it, since at Urgent Care, they said my white blood cell count was only a little above normal. I really thought I was going to have had to wait all that time for nothing, but I guess not. At least this way, it's pretty much the minimal amount of pain for the ailment. Thanks for the wellwishes, all. I'm really doing well. The surgery places (don't know a good other term for them) hurt a little when I take deep breaths (as I've been told to), but other than that, there's no pain or disorientation or anything else. I'm getting by just using Ibuprofin as opposed to the vicodin I was prescribed in case the pan got very bad. If possible, I'd want to avoid using the medicine classified as a Narcotic.

One other thing of note: We had our last paper for one of my classes due on Sunday through an online drop box. If we turned it in late, we'd get marked down points for every day it was late. I imagine that being in the hospital would probably be an appropriate excuse for my professor, but it still wouldn't be fun trying to figure out how that'd work with the anonymous grading system McGeorge uses. I submitted my paper on Saturday, so it's no worry, just something I thought about on Monday as I was waiting for the surgeon to call me in.

;-; I'm bored. My DS is dead and Spider's all like "raaaaah tired Dx *SLEEPSLEEPSLEEP* The internet is not as entertaining as it used to be!
@Rosa: Gaaaah. That picture of me is awful! I'll get mine up when I'm back at home though! Spider said it was cute how excited we were xd I was so nice to see you again! heart
@Zely: Ew! D: Get lots of rest and stuff. AND DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. [/mommaRaemode] Also, most professors that I know would just make an exception for the paper and grade it differently than usual if necessary. Being in the hospital is one of the few excuses that should always fly - especially if it was something like that where you wouldn't have had a clue it was going to happen. It's still good that you got it in on time and all though. I always try to make sure my things are on time no matter what just in case >>;
