"Holy mother-"

"Beside you."

The two men were standing beside each other at the rail in the bow of the ship, in front of the windows. Menos had picked the priest to pick on, and he was lucky for the warning that he got.

By the time it was said James already had both hands on the rail where his right hand had been, using them as both a support and a swing while he drove a jumping heel kick towards the right side of the necromancer's brow.

Greeneyes began to walk beside him, keeping pace.

"I don't think their base camp was in the forest. I saw a disturbance in the air from a distance; they ran toward it, only to find it had closed without them. I believe it was a portal."

So the large...thing...was an ally?

She supposed she should not be one to go making judgements on the appearances of others.

--which would fade through darkness as his body faded with the shadow. Like a cloud of smoke when you move your hand through it. The attack could not continue like this, so the priest had been saved, for the time being.

Meanwhile, the smoke like effect would appear around the attacking man's left arm. By the time the man would think to move, Menos would materialize with his eyes glowing red and his fangs bearing sharp.

"Nice..."

He would have a firm grasp on the man's arm. Psychokinetic...seperation... The man would likely expeciance a burning sensation that, dependent on how fast he reacted, would either leave a scorch mark of seared skin...or lob of his arm.

As any Hollywood tough guy would tell you, there's no point in throwing a half-assed punch. Or in this case, a half-assed kick. His foot had gone straight through Menos' gaseous head, and James would let go of the rail he had used for support; because, frankly, it would only be harmful to his attempts at landing if he held onto the thing.

Which means that Menos would either appear where he was, or appear near his left arm. In this case, Menos would recieve a rising palm strike under the chin with the right arm before he could even finish his taunts.

I was careless....

He head would jerk up.

To bad it won't matter....

He moved his hand with a blur to grasp hold of the man's attacking arm. Take and give, an easy tactic. One that required you to take a hit in order to get one in. Whether he grasped hold of the man's arm or not, his other hand would extend to a palm and force dark energy outwards in a blast.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:02 pm

James' attacking arm was grasped after it struck... this meant two things:

1. He likely wouldn't be able to wrench it free... most of the damn freaks roaming around Gaia were a hell of a lot stronger than what they looked.
2. Menos had let go of his left arm.

The moment James felt his left arm free, he'd bring it across his body while taking a step to his right as best he could while keeping firm footing. Menos would be in a pretty bad position with how close they were if he was trying to extend a palm outwards... he wouldn't have much range of motion to work with.

Oh, man... what happened to the booze and the cruise?

Menos' hand would get smacked by the back of James' left arm as he brought it back across, the two of them were so close in together that even the smallest movements would end up bumping each other. With his right hand he stretched his fingers and tried to grab a palm onto the necromancer's face and pull him down.

You're ruining my day off, b*****d!

When his left arm completed its motion, it would be drawing the 10" blade of a serrated combat knife across Menos' midsection. Smoke or no smoke, he wouldn't be able to see it coming.

1. He hadn't grabbed hold of the man's arm initial since he moved.

2. It was a palm blast, not palm strike. This meant an energy blast not a...er whatever.

The man was right in thinking not to wrench it free. Not necessarily because the grip was very very strong, but because from the moment his hand touched the man's arm, his psychokinesis would be at work. If the man pulled away, it would only speed up the process of taking his arm off.

As for the knife? Well needless to say it hit him, but wouldn't be nearly as effective. First off, the man wouldn't be able to grap his face. Well, he could try...but his arm would rip apart. Secondly, by pushing his second hand away, Menos had turned his body slightly from the force. He didn't see the blade coming, so it would hit him...but it wasn't like it would to something dramatic.

He tightened his grip on the mans arm. Bringing his other hand in a defensive position against further knife attacks.

*On several islands off shore of the Latent coast, a second wave of hell was readying to crash against the seaside town. Before the ship and sailed within clear sight of the docks, it had made a few pit-stops along the way.

Drae'shli'yian'ah sat astride her scaled mount, overlooking her forces. She felt a tug at her foot, put paid it no heed. It was merely one of her lackeys adjusting the stirrup of her flight saddle.

She reaches a gloved hand down and scritches the hardended obsidian scales of her dragon's neck. Talking to him softly in a foreign and 'underground' language.

The dragon tilts his head to the side, and makes a series of gutteral chirps in response. Ki'tain, while a dragon, was relatively small, only 3 times the size of a draft horse. He was specifically bred for fast flight and aerial maneuvering. Sacrificing his bulk for speed. He retained his natural defences and sported an enhanced fear effect. If it could be said that the drow upon his back had room in heart for anything... it would be him.

She cared nothing of anyone but herself and her mount. her conquests were for self gain, empowerment and personal pleasure.

Now she had raised her standard to a new hellish and bloody cause. An icy fire filled her belly as expectations of battle and her victim's suffering brought a smile to her dark crimson lips.

Her dark skin glistens lightly in the pale rays of the almost spring sun.*

"Spring... ehehehehe... How ironic..."

*She mused, as the lackey seeing to all the saddle adjustments spared her a sideways glance, nervousness plastered to his face.*

"W-what do you mean m'lady?"

*she eyes the temble in his hands and the tremour in his voice and snorts*

"Hmph! It's almost spring... the season in which the death and desolation of autumn and winter give way to the rebirth and reawakening of life... Yet here we are, with our armies of dead... preparing to bring about a new season of death."

(( I think the question here is: "What exactly do you think psychokinesis is?"

From your first post, it seemed something along the lines of reshaping matter by force of will, aka alchemy. From your second, it spoke of burns, aka pyrokinesis. From your third, you don't really say anything at all.

The bugger? ))

Menos could bring his hand in to guard whatever he'd like, but if he managed to get his hand between the tip of the blade and his own side before James managed to take one step forwards with his left leg and drive the length of the blade at an upwards angle beneath Menos' rib cage, he'd at best deflect the strike a little while having his hand run through by the blade.

"Hi, I'm God, and I declare the fight in the blimp to be boring."

The voice faded away with a chorus of cherubs.

"Urrrgh, change your clothes."

She was about to step off the first ship with her modest group when it started raining. She could see the effects of this rain, observing any ghouls that were shambling around the area. It wasn't likely to have the same effect on her, but this one wasn't willing to take any chances. Her oversized cloth wrapped around her body, seeming like a great cloak. Sighing and making sure to dump an extra layer of cloth on her choice picks, she searched for her reed flute.

"Well, the party's already started, but I'll bring the music." A wetting lick of her lips, and she began to play a soft tune. Her playing created a medium tone, and a low droning pitch throughout the area at subsonic levels- it was something that people would feel more than hear, the way you feel the subwoofing bass at the lower pitch levels throughout your body. One pass of the wind instrument's melody, and she walked off the ship that'd crashed into the shore, surrounded by her ghouls who were singing. The ability for apparent males to sing at a soprano tone was something in itself. The fact that they were dead, was just mindblowing.

She didn't move too fast, she didn't move too far. What was the point of playing such beautiful music, if nobody had a chance to hear it? However, it was very clear, with people actually stepping up to fight and counterattack, that being around the easily explodable boats was a bad idea. She'd clear the dock soon enough... she, her six "bodyguards," and a small handful of ghouls- another six.

*The man at her boot only swallowed hard and nodded his 'appreciation' for her statement. Poor fool couldn't trust his voice not to fail him if he opened his mouth... and it was well known that the Lady of the Grave quickly silenced any who displeased her, no matter how trivial the irritation.

The platinum haired woman smiled cruely at him, watching him wince and savouring the essense of his fear. She enjoyed the sadistic effects she had on her underlings...

She opened her mouth to say something, just as one of her lesser mages came running full tilt towards her. She recognized the sniveling excuse for a human being as one of the mages assigned to scrying and communication.

He stops out of breath and drops to a knee, head bowed.*

"Well what is it you half-wit? Or do you enjoy panting at my heel like a dog?"

*slightly stung he keeps his eyes focused on the sand in front of him.*

"To the North my liege... Our allies are taking heavy casualties. There are reports of a blimp raining holy water upon them and purging the outlaying area."

*Yianah's lip curled into a snarl as she shrieked something in her own language.*

"Pathetic fool! Has he not mages to deflect such trivialties? How could he let his forces be overun by common townsfolk!"

*She fumed and the mage just kept quiet. He knew that her questions were rhetorical, and to answer them was to become a focus for her contempt.*

"Tell Gyriad to ready 2 of the Draconian squadrens and one of the Wyverns! We move on Latent now! Gate it in the ground troops we have with us here. I want them moving on the town from the south west and I want anything in their paths destroyed!"

*The mage was all too happy to take off at a dead run and place as much distance between himself and his lady as he could. Reporting to his respective superiors, in less than 5 minutes the orders had been issued.

Ranks formed up and readied to take to the skies, while the gate users had been preparing the portal for the last hour. Upon recieving the commands they had been itching to hear, the gate energy is unleashed and rows of obedient undead soldiers file through, transported to the main road between Durem and Latent.

The drow Warlord pulls on her flight armour and helmet. Peeking through the narrow slat of her visor she muses...*

"I wonder what colour this years blossoms will be, when the earth is watered with the blood of 'innocents'..."

*Nudging Ki'tain with her heels, the dragon propels himself into the sky, nearly running over the stable-hand, who can only fling himself to the sandy ground to avoid being clipped by one of the powerful wings.

Yianah's aerial forces would be coming in from the east to survey the damage first hand and then undertake a course of offensive action, concentrating on the residential zone of Latent.*

And as the ship slowed down, hitting land and pushing thr ground aside, wood flying everywhere, it groaned to a halt, its wooden hull cracking in a splitting line which slowly crept up the side and front as it stopped. And then, maybe ten seconds after it did, enough tine for everyone to jump off the boat, or even for people to get close to it, it would simply explode.

The resulting explosion would be caused by the large quantities of gunpowder held within the ship, creating a large burst of force which was strong enought to throw anything weighing less than a ton within thirty feet to be thrown at least a hundred meters in any direction at most, on all three planes of dimensions of course, and anything else in the area to be equally thrown a distance depending on how close to the explosion it was.

Following the wave of force, which of course moves oh so very fast considering to the amount of power was behind it, the ship, or rather what was left of it would most likely be engulfed in a fireball which would burn the flying debris to ashes in a second.

The ground would shake, the tide would pull outwards, and glass would shatter and explode from the supersonic force of the explosion. Not exactly a pretty thing to be close to, but what of the suicidal crew that was inside it? Probably all flash fried in an instant and gone to feed the fishies...

Probably, the crazy bastards. She would have chuckled with the head shake she was giving, but that'd stop the song. Right... it was a good thing she bailed when she did, anyway. She would have been in quite a jam, had she not done so.

For a moment, they turned to watch the show- the ship exploding more than once as small pockets of fuel and such were met, before the grand eruption that rocked the shore. It was beautiful, for what it was.

Oh well... she had her part to play, she had to provide the background music. That, she continued to do. People were bound to either scatter, or come to see what happened with the explosion, and fight any forces that caused it. She would be fine, more than fine, by then.

Hugin the Raven

MerDefsGirl
It released a bellowing wail that shook the entire sewer, the sound would be released from all the sewer openings in latent. Then it continued the song. It welled up from sinks, bubbled from toilets, from drains and shower plugs. It was a wail that peirced the mind and filled it with despair. Across Latent, scores of people would be driven mad upon hearing it, their minds fried by the unfettered voice of humanity's sins, that is, if they hadn't commited suicide first.

Evan was not afraid.

If he were, he would not have come in the first place.

He was, however, irritated.

"Awwww, shut the ******** UP! We'll kill you soon enough!"

Crystal Moon Dream
Damn this thing moves fast...

It is just ahead I think My Lord, we should be able to do some real damage from behind before it ever manages to turn.

"That's fine with me. It's better that way anyways; facing it head on would be a nightmare. Well, more of one than this whole situation already is."

And then, his own security team was seen heading towards them, heading in from the right. "Ah, there we go. Gentlemen, as you've just heard..." he shouted as they approached, rallying those of them who had been visibly shaken by the wail, "We have found our target. It's close enough to smell, and damn is it a terrible thing. Masks up, now."

They all put on their gas masks, each with its own supply of clean, pure oxygen and sealed in order to keep the stench and toxins out.

"Incendiary grenades and rockets at the ready. Take cover and fire at will when you have visual. We're going to send this oversized earthworm back to hell. On another note, this is enough evidence in my book to shut Yaits Corp. down forever- hell, for longer. I want a full investigation after this, starting with the disappearance of the real Edward Yaits Jr."

They nodded, their nerves steadied by the orders given. With that, he began carving a runic circle into the ground, with about a three foot raidius. Once the two concentric circles were complete, he carved one rune after another into the ground, until the outer path was complete.

It would all take a good two minutes, no more.

Once that was done, he stepped into the center... and stomped hard into the ground. His energy not only flowed into the other eight runes, but also created his own rune, the Seal of the Raven, into the floor. As it exploded with a purple light, the others followed suit.

Yarneth would suddenly have a sharp headache from any forms of reconnaisance, mental, physical, or otherwise, being cut off.

Watch me now, you little runt.

"Move your asses. Lady Raven, ready to feast?"
