Kai was pleased that, for once, he'd managed to avoid having Shad drop directly on his head. Not that it hurt too much, what with the gargoyle DNA floating around his body, but he felt bad for the less-than-soft landing Shad enjoyed after one of his shadow-trips when he landed butt-first on Kai's horns.

"Ari, this is Shadeaux D. Gloom. He's our resident sack-man. They're an offshoot of the Boogeymen."

He also took the opportunity to point out a few more locations.

"And to your left there are the doors to the Creepateria, for lunch, and across from them are the doors to the Grimnasium. Looks like the Fearleading squad is in there finishing one of Cleo DeNile's famous early morning practices."

Ari Curtsied with a smile as Kai Introduced her to her Locker Neighbor. "It's lovely to meet you Rider~"

Her pale face blushed madly as he took her hand. She shook her head slightly to shake it off and tilted her head. "SKRM? What's that?" She wasn't sure if she'd ever catch up to Monster Lingo... Looking around She wondered if she really fit in at all. Everyone they had passed wore their monster style with pride... She probably looked like she had just come from that other school. No matter...

Returning to reality Ari giggled as Rider sped away. "I think I'll be getting used to a lot of new things here. But it's not as bad as I expected." She smiled brightly.

The elf nodded with Kai, "Alright, so I can store my belongings in here, but how do I open it?" She took a step back as he moved to demonstrate- but shrieked a bit with surprised as someone fell out instead. "Oh, Hello There~" She waved slightly, her smile returning. "Nice to meet you Shadeaux~" She greeted with her signature curtsey. "Oh, The Sack Man is considered an Offshoot? I didn't realize the legends were related at all." The Changling was familiar with several if not all Normie Urban legends. The Sack man was one she somewhat related too. Both of their Legends stole children.

She cocked her head in confusion. "Is that how you travel?" She asked the stranger. If Someone could move through mirrors she didn't think it unlikely.

"Is there anything else in there?" Ari peered into her locker.

"Kai! k.. Kai! I'msogladIfoundyou!" A diminutive, bedazzled mole-ghoul came rushing through the crowds, skidding to a halt in front of Kai and Ari.

She adjusted her thick lensed glasses, caught her breath and launched into a tirrade of near indecipherable babble.

"There'sasituationdowninthecaverns... ohKaiIdon'tknowwhat todo... "

Kai raised a hand and gently patted the fanxious ghoul on the shoulder. "It's ok, calm down. Deep breaths."

She nodded, taking several gasping breaths.

"Now what's happened?" Kai continued in his gentle soothing manner.

The ghoul wrung her overlarge hands as she launched back into her story.

"It's the goblins... thoseoneswhoworkfor Harry... I.. I told them they shouldn't go down there but they insisted they had to checkthe location of the fearstivalto ensureitwassafe... Oh i told them it was perfectlysafe, but they insisted on carrying out their own safetyinspection. I ask you, how does a butlerand amaid know more about structural integrity than me?" She snorted, clearly offended at the implication.

"So... what happened?" Kai asked.

Now the mole ghoul was hopping from one foot to the other in aggitation.

"Welltheyonlywent and offended the Kobolds! There they were, minding their own business when those Goblinscomein asking all these questions about fault lines and cave ins. Suggesting the Kobolds don't knowwhatthey're doing... N.. now the Kobolds say they don't want to work with us if the Goblins are involved. Oh I justdon't know what to do... if they Kobolds won't agree, we cannot use those caverns." She looked close to tears.
"I... I can't have anothereventIorganisedgowrong... oh Kai.. you have tohelpme!"

It was only now she seemed to notice the new ghoul. Slowly she turned to look at Ari, frowning deeply.

"Who's this?"

There was still a bit of time before the first period started, and Layla chose to use the time wisely as she slithered down the main corridor, weaving her way between students milling about.

Just this past freakend, she had been paid a visit at the Monster Embassy by her mother, the royal Lamia Queen herself, Serpia La Mia. Her mother was a strict monstress who favored proper actions, discipline and above all else, etiquette. Many thought of her mother with fear or nervousness, but what many was not aware was that the Queen favored none over no other based on nobility nor upbringing. As a matter of fact, to expect that treatment from her would most likely earn you the exact opposite of what you wanted. The Queen was a regular visitor to the school to check constantly on her daughter, the princess's education, and before he had been trapped in Wonderland, she was a regular visitor of Draconia's uncle Wocky at his book store, the Looking Glass.

Layla was never certain what these visits with her mother would entail, but she had certainly not hexpected to be informed that as princess, she was this year being held responsible to ghost her own howliday ball at the Monster Embassy for the students and faculty of Monster High. She was of age and now considered a diplomat to her royal title, and if truth be told, she was greatly looking forward to it.

In her hands, Layla was carrying some tape and a stack of poster invitations that she herself had designed. She would hand some out personally to her closest of friends, but she wanted it to be established that all were invited.

She slid up to the groannocement board and took some tape and pinned the first grimvitation up so any might see it;

Quote:
"Greetings Students and Staff of Monster High!

"As heir to the Lamia Throne, it is my fondest pleasure to goredially invite one and all in Monster High to celebrate the Grimmas Howlidays with me at the Monster Embassy for the annual Lamia Solstice Ball!

Semi-gormal attire is requested. There will be food and music, and of course, dancing!

Decembrr 20th! All are welcome! If you have any questions, please contact me!"

Motthew fluttered down to the school with a yawn. He looked around as the other students were heading inside as well. Everyone seemed to gossip over something, but the more popular subject seemed to be another new student. Motthew just smiled as he pushed his sunglasses up. New students seemed pretty commonplace lately.

As he walked in, he smiled seeing his ghoulfriend. "Dori! Good morning. " he greeted as he walked over to her.

"Yeah. That's my general beat, y'dig?" Shad answered Arillena's question on his mode of 'transportation'. He seemed to be fidgeting more than normal. Yes. He was a monster who had anxiety issues, but if there was one thing more frightening than a houseful of normies wanting to discuss politics, it was -- ghouls!

Shad rubbed the back of his head and fought to hexplain, wanting to be as hospitable as he could be despite his fears. "Closets are my main digs, you get me? But anything that blasts the Edison will do the trick. Lockers. Dark corners. One time I found myself in Toralei's desk and did THAT take some hexplaining..."

Okay so he was rambling. Lots of mansters rambled when they were around ghouls, right?

Arillena

"Is there anything else in there?" Ari peered into her locker.

"Hmm... shouldn't be." Shad poked his head inside of the locker and he vanished somewhat in the murky shadows, looking around. "Without a Sackman inside, all it is is a locker so..."

Of course that's when Jewels tore up to Kai, and the rest of them, her tirade setting off a storm! Shad yelped the moment Jewels started freaking out, and jumped, banging his head against the top of Arillena's locker, then turned around and found Jewel's large eyes right up in his biz and he shrieked, leaping high in the air and came right down into Arillena's arms like a child being held by a mother.

Shad pointed a trembling claw at Jewels. "Warn a manster next time you want to have a freak out!"

"So.... what ye' tellin' me..." Nathair slithered along beside his beast friend. "Is tha' ye plan tae go explore the catacombs with absolutely nay map or plan?"

"Yeah. I mean, I go down there all the time man, I know it like the back of my hand!" Perry insisted.

Nathair looked unsure. "Did ye know ye had a freckle on ye left knuckle?"

"Wait.. what?" Perry took the bait and glanced down at his hand, then glared at his friend. "Oh come on! that doesn't mean anything. It'll be fine! I've been down there countless times and not gotten lost!"

"Aye, there's a firs' time fae anythin' though."

"Since when were you the pessamist anyway? Aren't you supposed to be all positive vibes, stop being so grumpy blah blah blah?"

"Firs' of all, I dinnae talk like tha..."

"Yeah, i thought the accent would be a bit offensive you know?"

"Second, ye' completely right. I jus' know what ye get like when ye have a mad scheme pop intae tha' skull a yours. "

"you think i'm reckless?"

"Now now, I never used those words. But yes... yes I do."

"Look, i'll not be on my own. I've got that moth dude with me."

"Why ye so eager tae get ye school work done anyway? " Nathair tilted his head, eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Ye never get ye work done till the las' minute. Ye' like.. a born procrastinator. "

"I'm turning over a new leaf?"

"I dinnae buy it."

"Fine, I told my parents I had a lot of work to do with this mad science thing and photography... and boosic... . I figured if I got it all done really quick, they didn't need to know I wasn't using every afternoon for school work. "

"So... ye're lyin' tae get outta the whole being grounded fae the next month thing?"

"What? You don't think it'll work? I mean, it's not like they've got me under constant surveilance. What they don't know won't hurt them."

"Ye coul' just.. ye know... actually complete ye punishment and go back tae a normal social life."

Perry looked at Nathair and Nathair looked at Perry, and they both burst into laughter.

"Aye... point taken. Well, when this inevitably blows up in ye face, dinnae say I did nay warn ye. "

"yeah yeah, it's gonna be fine. Now I just gotta find Motthew, the sooner we get this done, the sooner I can spend my afternoons at the barkade."

Perry scanned the halls and spotted the moth boo chatting to a selkie ghoul.

"See ya later."

"Aye." Nathair slithered off to his locker while Perry approached Motthew and Doriana.

Motthew Clendenin

Oblivious or perhaps simply not caring about any conversation Doriana and Motthew were in the middle of, Perry rudely butted in.

"Hey Motthew right? So, that Mad Science project. How about we meet after school, go check it out. You not got anything better to do now have you. " It wasn't a question. He looked to Doriana meaningfully, hoping she'd get the hint and go away but she just stared at him.

"I figure the sooner we get it done, the better. Don't you agree?"

Ari nodded in understanding at Shad's explanation. She noticed his odd behaviour and wondered if it was normal.

"Are you Alr-" She began but that was when The frantic girl appeared. Ari started to quickly introduce herself but was interrupted as Shad jumped up. Although she looked weak the elfish girl was actually quite strong and didn't falter as she caught him. Jumpy fellow, this one is.

"There, there," She spoke kindly and patted Shad's back gently. "I'm sure she didn't mean to surprise you." She giggled slightly. "Remind me never to sneak up on you." Ari smiled at him then shot a curious glance to Kai.

"Is something happening?" She asked Kai and the Other girl before carefully setting Shad back to his feet.

"Oh, no...." Kai seemed to have forgotten about the tour, about Shad, and about Arillena altogether. "We can't have Woestock in the caverns?! Did you tell Harry?"

Jewels shook her head so hard she nearly saw double.

"Idon'thavehisnumber! I just found out about it this morning and rushed here asfastasIcould!" She squeaked. "What'rewegoingtodo?!!!"

Kai let out a long, hissing sigh and ran a claw through his hair, trying to think of other options to hold a school-sized Fearstival....decision making! His greatest weakness!

"Um...." Kai suddenly realized that Arillena was still there (as was Shad), looking very confused. Kai grimaced. He didn't want to dump drama on the new ghoul right after she'd joined!

"A friend of ours-"

"Harry! Harry Herne!" Jewels chimed in.

"Yeah, Harry, he's a fae from the Everever, and he had this gnarly idea, you see. So we've been working on putting together this Fearstival this weekend called Woestock. It's going to feature musical acts, and hacktivities and-"

"Don't forget the BOJANGLES!" Jewels reminded him.

"Right, never forget the BOJANGLES. That's the name of the committee we formed to give the fearstival a theme of robotic monster rights, because Harry's really into supporting hacktivism and clawses. We were going to have the Fearstival in the caverns in Haunted Hollow Park -"

"Where I live, whichiswhyitwasMYresponsibility to check it out and NOT Harry's Goblin friends!" Jewels chimed in.

"But now, I guess we can't have it there." Kai finished up glumly. "Harry's gonna be devestated, unless we can think of another place to hold it and get all the posters and the fiercebook profile updated."

"Any ideas?" Jewels implored. It was clear she really felt clawful about the cavern plan crumbling. Her entire hexpression was completely caved in.

Kai thought. This was absolutely the worst stitchuation to possibly be in, for him. Making decisions was the one thing that tormented him. He had a three-pronged nature, and his different monster types were always pulling him in different directions. It made it hard to definitively settle on ANYthing...especially not in dire circumstances!

"We could do it...at my house?" He started, then cut himself off. "No! Too small! Wait! The Maul! There's a pagoda there! Or in the parking lot of the Maul, if no one minds dodging cars. Or we could come back here to the school, except everything's going to be locked up and there's the lack of bathrooms problem again, then..."

Kai yanked on his ponytail, racking his brains and coming up with every absurd possibility, but not being able to settle on any of them.

"The top floor of the post office!"

"No, wait! The libury! We could push the card catalog out of the way-no, the bands would all have to whisper..."

"The alley behind Scarbucks!"

"Uhm...uhm...uhm..." Kai struggled to come up with something, ANYthing...

Motthew looked up as Perry was suddenly there, talking. His antenna twitched as he listened, remembering the project.

"Oh, right!" He smiled "yeah, sure, we can meet up after school." He nodded "it is interesting, I'm eager to check it out." He chuckled.

Ari bit her lip as she felt the panic rise in both Kai and the one called Jewels. From what she understood a festival was at risk of being canceled because of... a misunderstanding? The place they wanted to hold it was no longer available? Hm... The changeling wanted to help, but didn't know anything about the area. No answer or suggestion appeared in her mind.

"How large of an area is needed for the fest- Er, Fearstival?" She asked timidly. The elvish girl lived alone in a small cottage on the edge of the forest near town. Small yes, but... looks can be deceiving.

"Can't the creatures in confrontation be reasoned with?" It had been several years since she last met or spoke with any kind of goblin, but she recalled them being a pretty mellow species... Or was that Sprites? No it was... Oh dear..

It was the start of a new school day, and Draconia was already running a bit late. Her beastie, Glen, hadn't been able to pick her up on the way to school today because he had wanted to start planning his catacombs excursion with Rory. Normally, she was quite fine with walking to school from the book store her flat was above, but today she'd spent far too much time worrying and preparing, and now she was running late.

Wednesday was the day that Comic Book Club met after school, but there was no meeting this week. Instead, Draconia was stressing out over a date.

She hadn't been on a proper 'monster-meets-another-monster-and-they-go-out-and-get-to-know-each-other' date in a very long time, preferring just to fang out with her bluddies or go on double not-quite-a-dates with Glen, Chase and Manny. But now, thanks to Glen's shenanigans, Draconia had been set up on a virtual PLETHORA of blind dates with available boos at school.

It had made Draconia's stage fright flare up to near inferno levels. This morning she'd become quite stuck on trying to decide what to wear, what makeup to put on, how to do her hair, much less trying to think of suggestions of what to DO on the date.

After all..hexactly WHAT did she have in common with J.D. Leeds?!

*Whoosh! Whoosh!*

That sound, as Draconia dashed down the sidewalk to school, was the sound on her iCoffin that grimdicated she was receiving a text from somemonster. Her phone always made the sound of the SCARDIS from Doctor Boo, her favourite show, when she received a text.

Draconia put on the brakes and checked her iCoffin.

HOW U DOIN?

Well. That was...succinct. At least Draconia knew he hadn't forgotten about their date after school. Truth be told, out of all the boos Glen had chosen as 'worthy' for a blind date with Draconia, (13 in all!), JD was the one she knew the least about. She knew that he was from Boo Jersey, and that he liked to DJ on the weekends...but that was about it.

Oh! And he owned a very nice car, though the suspension on it seemed very bouncy.

Quote:

I am doing fine, fang you very much. Are you still on for our date tonight?

Draconia typed a quick, very polite response before breaking back into a full run on her way to school. She turned a corner and the front of the school came into view. Whew! She was there with enough time to spare to jump into the Ghouls bat-room and freshen up!

*Whoosh! Whoosh!*

Draconia checked her iCoffin again just as she traipsed up the stairs.

JD Leeds
From: JD Leeds

U NO IT!!!

Well. At least he seemed eager? Draconia thought back to Monday at lunch in the Creepateria, when JD and his (apparently) ex-ghoulfriend Vanissha had caused quite the scene. Draconia would have had nothing to do with JD after that if he hadn't noticed her stack of comic books in her book bag and commented on the newest Freaktastic Four issue. He was a closet FF fan...who knew?!

So, at least they had that in common. Draconia hexpected that their date would be a nice, quiet evening at the Looking Glass book store. They could read new comics and sip tea and talk about their feelings. It would be a rather nice date after all, she was quite sure!

"Oh....hello!"

Draconia slowed to a stop near her locker. There was a glut of monsters all standing there. She knew Kai, of course, and Shadeaux. Jewels Underne, the Tombcoming Queen was there and looked very worried. There was also a new ghoul standing with them dressed like she was about to go to a formal ball or something. Clearly, something grimteresting was happening.

"Wot's...going on?" She asked cautiously.

Jewels chewed her lip as Kai joined in the freak out, thinking hard on how to solve this issue.

"c... Do you think ifHarryspoketohis... staff?" they were staff yes? or was that an impolite term? "c.. companions?" Was that a better way to describe them? oh she wasn't sure. "d.. do you think if he spoke to them, theymightbeabletopatchthingsupwith the kobolds?" He gulped. "I.. I hear they're rather fond of pasties... "

She looked over at Draconia and in one barely intelligable babble explained what was going on. Amazing, she didn't even seem to take a breath during the whole thing.

Still ignoring Doriana, Perry grinned broadly at Motthew and gave him a thumbs up.

"Clawsome, catch ya later."

and with that he trudged off toward class.

Nathair was right, he was a procrastinator by nature. Perry insisted he functioned best on a super tight deadline. He was the sort of monster to panickedly write an essay at 10pm the night before it was due to be handed in, the monster who'd once tried to hand in Math homework written in ketchup on the back of a napkin during lunch break (no, the teacher had not accepted it, despite Perry's protests that the sums were all correct and there was nothing in the rules that stated it had to be written in pen and on regular paper)

This time though, he had a scheme.
Getting his parents to agree to letting him get out of being grounded under the pretense of school work had been surprisingly easy this time.
Had Perry stopped a moment to consider that, he may have started to suspect his parents were in fact several steps ahead of him, but for now the young Peryton was happy to believe he was a secret genius and that he'd managed to pull a fast one on Ma and Pa Hartley.

Now he just had to write another stupid song for Boosic. he wondered if he could just reuse his hastily penned "Vinnie please stop hating me and making stuff blow up in my face" song.

Motthew grinned back at Perry, giving a thumbs up back as he watched him walk off. Any excuse to explore the catacombs in the dark was definitely killer!

"Looks like you'll be busy today then." Doriana said, shrugging a shoulder. Motthew just smiled at her "Seems like you're the one with no time." she teased.

Motthew laughed, shaking his head, "Don't worry about it. Other than this, I'm pretty free." He smiled gently at her over his sunglasses, "I'll make it up to you. Friday? Will you have the time?"

Doriana giggled and just smiled at him, her cheeks flushing red, "I think I can fit you in."

Motthew grinned, "Killer! We'll talk later then." He gave her a quick kiss before turning off, "Gotta fly." He winked and fluttered off down the hall to class.
