((wow, I feel really...out of it. Where am I, Takeshi, and Agnese in comparison to the others in the house sweatdrop ? oh, and thanks for the link! biggrin Now I understand the general location, but the exact location is still confusing me. I really don't want to start getting everybody mixed up again.))

((They're in the room with the Televsion. Basically it goes...

K S L
K _ L
D E L
_E_

E is entryway, L is the room with the TV, D is the room with the table and chairs, K is the kitchen, S is the stairwell, which leads down to the basement and up to the second floor. Proportions are not exact but it shows the connections of the rooms well enough.))

Abaddon's Avatar kicked Fyrin's face to keep him away from Siber. The magic did little to the chains. Helmsborough seemed to be regaining power even in the course of the fight itself.

--

Joe and Jacob saw a book in the middle of a hallway. Opening it showed a large number of words, symbols, and diagrams, with accents on many of the letters. It made little sense to them.

Most doors are not made dragon-sized. There are, in fact, very few doors in the world that can fit a dragon through, compared to the number of doors that exist.

There are even fewer doorframes that can withstand the rage of a large, blue-gray dragon whose eye was just doused in fire. To be sure, very few doorways have withstood this test, but as far as the three just tested by the dragon on its way to Fyrin were concerned, the doorways were not dragon-rampage-equipped.

For a seven-foot-tall monster of an indeterminate but large weight, the dragon moved surprisingly fast, slamming into Fyrin barely three seconds after crushing the doorway to the basement on its way through.

Most creatures do not have bone structures equipped to receive body slams from dragons, much less without any supporting muscle, fat, or other such padding tissue to soften the blow.

Fyrin, however, was able to deflect most of its force.

Renard, who had been slower in avoiding it than Gennady, was not so well-equipped even with padding, and was now biomancing himself off against a wall where he'd fallen.

Helmsborough, for his part, was ignoring Siber to watch Fyrin being attacked by the dragon.

Fyrin swore, and tried something he knew he'd regret - he started tossing ice needles, much like the ones fired from his soldier's guns, right at the dragon's eyes. They would have slight penetration on most flesh, and if the dragon's eyes were anything like anything else's eyes, it would probably hurt pretty badly, not to mention blind them.

The dragon reflexively snapped its head away from him and closed its eyes, followed by breathing fire in his general direction.

Good enough; the closing of the eyes left the dragon at least partially blind long enough for Fyrin to sprint, jump at the wall beside it, strike it with a fireball, and sail through the opening to be behind it. Now he had to be even more careful, though; the tail was back here. He didn't bother attacking the thing, not yet. He needed something more... sensitive to attack.

Siber got shakily to his feet, keeping well away from the dragon, then got out his phase knife and prayed it could cut through these chains. He slashed at the one on his legs and stood back up.
"Helmsborough, focus!" Siber yelled, nonetheless highly intrigued by the presence of the dragon. What on Earth was it doing here, anyway?
He contacted the Dreamshell, his shield finally in place and his chakras restored. I need your assistance. I need Helmsborough to hate me, to hate me more than he hates Abaddon. If it please you, shift his attentions and I will defile these ashes. Also, if it please you, keep him from killing me afterwards.

Joe picked up the book, looking at the pages in confusion. "This...umm..."
He glanced at Jacob, who of course had no idea what it was. He looked back at it in time to see a flash of red in his vision.
Umm...is this bad?

That was actually directed at the Patron whose rage just pounded in my head...

Jacob looked to Joe and then glanced at the book, "Uh, do you know what it is? Maybe it's what you came here for...are you alright?" he asked, examining both the book and Joe's reaction.
Any idea what this is?

Agnese cocked her head to the side at the things around her, slightly confused.

"How could I have not seen this coming?" She asked, remaining exactly where she stood. Her confusion was so great that it actually distracted her from the things going on around her.

We cannot do this, the Dreamshell replied. As long as Avatar Helmsborough is in such proximity to a source of Abaddon's power, such as this house's link to the Heart of Darkness, Abaddon can control his hatred. Only this condition has kept Abaddon in control of him for so long. Helmsborough would have to be cut off from Next Door for this ploy to succeed.

The book gave no hint of its purpose. Roland suddenly interjected,

Joe snapped his fingers. "That must be why the Djinn was angry!" In the excitement of his realization, he hadn't realized he had spoken aloud.

Joe shook his head. He can't defend it if it comes under attack. I know the Djinni might not like the book, but it's a necessary evil if it means we can defeat Abbadon in the long run. Right?
The last question was directed at the Patron, listening or not.
Joe turned to Jacob after receiving (or not) an answer. "Let's go. Stay behind me." He began to run down the stairs.

Entirely cut off, or just moved?
"Only what, Helmsborough? Only your patron has too great proximal control over you? Must we take this elsewhere?"

He has to be outside of Abaddon's direct influence while the transfer of his hatred occurs, the Dreamshell clarified. Though, alternatively... if he even got a few minutes away from Abaddon's control just from the severance of the direct contact, he could probably regain himself.

Helmsborough took a moment to notice his chain to Siber had been severed. "You know too much. How did you learn this?" he growled. He didn't replace the chain.

((No, SirBayer, you can't attack the dragon's PENIS. But, uh, seriously...))

No weak point seemed especially obvious on the dragon. It listened carefully for Fyrin and whipped the cord of muscle known as its tail at him.
