I can't say that I'm all that surprised about this. It is kind of sad, but I haven't watched Toonami in a while, since I don't like Naruto, and they haven't run anything else I've been interested in watching.

Great Tattooist Oni Rae x Rae Holy s**t. Just came home to this e-mail from dad: "Ashley, First, I am ok. We had an explosion at the house, and I have been burned pretty badly. I can't write more cause all my fingers but two are burned. Hands and arms and face are toast, but i think will recover in time. You can call me if you want." eek He sounds remarkably cool with the situation. eek I know!! It was hard to take seriously at first 'cause I was just like "Lolwhat?". Then I called him and he was all about how much pain he was in gonk

I saw My Morning Jacket on Friday, one amazing show! eek heart
But an even more amazing weekend. Uncertainty and spontaneous is the best way to describe my trip to Berkeley over the last few days. Friday morning, our(my friend and I) plans fell through for our ride. He was supposed to be getting his new car from the dealership that morning but they found an oil leak and needed to fix it. We had no car, the concert was in less then 11 hours. All morning we scrambled around for possible rides but came up short. There's a train station in town that can take us but we'd never make the train and it was too expensive, our best bet was to take the light rail system in a town 45 minutes away... but we still needed to get there...
Things were looking bleak, my friend couldn't even scalp his tickets because they were mailed in instead of printed so there was no way to transfer the information. I told my coworker my troubles after she asked me why I was so glum and she said I could ask my supervisor/good friend Mary for a lift. I knew that she didn't have a car but this coworker said Mary could use her car and it'll be okay. So I asked and sure enough, Mary was fine with it. Things were starting to fit into place!
I go to the bank to cash my check, gather my things, leave extra dry food for my kitty, and I'm off to gather the other members(Kirk and Candice) of my party. We assemble and await Mary who gets there partially late but that's okay, we're just happy to get a ride at this point. The trip was fun, Mary drives like a mad woman and that's exactly what we needed at the time. We pass the time by talking of weekend plans. We felt awful when we found out that the thing she happened to cancel that day to give us a lift just happened to be a planned trip to take her son to Chuck E. Cheese... his first visit. She said she'd just take him tomorrow... but I still feel bad. Thanks Mary, sorry about that. sweatdrop
As we approach our destination dark clouds are seen on the horizon, it looked like rain. I check my ticket which said rain or shine, but this is an open venue and my winter wear for that night was a beanie. But hey! We made it this far, no way are we stopping now!
Now at the train station, I thanked Mary and force her to take money for gas and another thank you. We hop on and make the rail car ... now to figure out where we're going. My friend Kirk finds us a route to Downtown Berkeley, but another passenger notices he's making a horrible route and informs him of a better way. We take her suggestion and sure enough, we make it there. We're coming above ground now at Downtown Berkeley to discover that it is indeed very soggy and worse yet, we don't know how to get to our friend's apartment from here, nor the venue. We call our friend Mary(different one) for directions and she just laughs at us, reminds us that she works for the city's transit department, and assures us that we'll make it on time because she's going to give us a ride to where we need to go! She picks us up in the company car and tells us if we see any similar cars to hers around town to duck because she's not supposed to pick up passengers. We laugh and agree and get where we need to. Being the city driver that she is, she gets through traffic like a pro and takes straight to the front steps of our venue. Unfortunately, we happen to pass by her boss who is working outside the concert, for the city and he spots our dear friend Mary. We apologized but she said it was okay, she won't get into too much trouble, it's just frowned upon to give people rides. But hey! We finally made it to the concert, right as they're letting people in!
I wore WHITE SNEAKERS! D: The floor was muddy and we went straight to the front. There was little crowding or pushing since the show wasn't sold out. That phase of sitting on the floor and standing when the roadies come out to play was skipped due to the rain, very comfortable venue... but muddy, my shoes were getting scuffed! The rain was starting to slow a bit now but it was still kind of cold, so I brought out my nicely hidden flask that I brought because I knew it was going to be cold. ninja
People came in for a good while, but like the true showmen that they were, My Morning Jacket came out at exactly 8, on the dot and rocked us for a heavenly 2 hours and 48 minutes, I hoped it would last forever. Jim James is an amazing frontman! Vampire cape, awesome kicks, crazy man fro, lots of thumbs up, and of course... POWERSLIDE!!!! He even gave us a few observational words of wisdom, comparing our mist filled amphitheater to some kind of ancient Scottish/Irish battle field, filled with Greek soldiers, fighting some kind of epic war... where everybody wins! biggrin
Although it was an impressive set list, I waited for two songs the entire show, Steam Engine(which they didn't play. sad ) and Lay Low (WHICH THEY DID PLAY DURRING THE ENCORE! crying heart .) The more I listen to this concert the better the set list gets. Oh! Mary even showed up for the encore, her boss was working the show so she got in for free! Nice to have connections, no? ninja
But after the show she had to go home so we parted ways. It was nice seeing her after... 3 years, she got a lot cooler, I kind of hated her in high school, but isn't that how things work? We grow up and mature a bit. Slightly wet, tired, hungry, and cold, we walked to Blondie's Pizza and start calling back all those phone calls we ignored or had to cut off because we were at a concert. One said call was my dear friend Alfonso, another good friend who I promised to meet while I was in town. I was getting late and I told him we couldn't meet him tonight because the person putting us up for the night was getting tired and wanted us there by 12 so she could get some sleep. He couldn't meet us tomorrow so we said we'd catch him next time. sad . . .Next time came soon because we're a block away from Blondies when I spot him walking towards us on the street with a gallon of milk in his hand, he's just getting out of Lab at 11! What a strange turn of events.
We go to his apartment and rest a bit, bring back old times and what not when he asks us a very interesting question... how are we getting home? Good question. We weren't quite sure ourselves. He suggest a train ride. We looked at the train station as a possibility to get to Berkeley, but it was like 130 for three of us, so we dismissed it. Fonzy, told us that getting out of Berkeley was cheaper, we looked, only 22... total! Yes! We had a ride to town now. Again, things fell into place.
We're still pretty hungry so we head back to our original destination of Blondie's Pizza and get other nightly goodies like donuts along the way. We just chatted and took in the nightlife, when we remembered that were on a curfew! We cut things short and head to our friend Kathy's place. Again, my friend Kirk has no sense of direction and Alfonso directs us on how to get there. We part ways and thanked him for the advice and off we go to Kathy's!
We make it there slightly late by 20 minutes but Kathy doesn't mind. Kirk dropped all the sodas down three flights of stairs, I loves my clumsy buddy! xp But we make it in, eat, catch up, then finally sleep...
We set up an alarm for 10:30 so we can have time to eat breakfast and catch our train in time but woke up earlier because someone kept calling me in the morning. We head to this awesome place next to where we had our donuts the night before, ginormous breakfast burritos with yummy salsa! eek heart
We had a little time to kill so we head over to Amoeba Music, the best music store ever(Rolling Stone voted the San Francisco store best independent music store in the US 2008 but the Berkeley store is still impressive.) Kathy and Candice find this terrible sub genre section of DVDs called Nunsploitation! xp They tell me to buy it and after very little peer pressure, I cave and buy Dark Habits. A black comedy that I've yet to see so I can't tell you how it went, but it sound stupid. xD
Time was getting close to catching our train so parted ways with Kathy and promise to come back soon. We start walking back to the downtown station where we were picked up the night before, it was really easy getting back. Next time this happens, we'll be ready.
We have to catch the light rail to Ritchmond (scary city) where we can catch our train to town, time was pressing but we make it with 15 minutes to spare. Our trip was almost over but we forgot one important thing... who's going to pick us up from the train station? Most of our friends are at work and as a last resort, Kirk calls his mom. She hates doing favors for him, so I knew he got in trouble for it, but that's okay, the day was almost over, as is this incredibly long story which, if you're still reading I want to thank you. heart
I go to Kirks house after we drop Candice off and for the rest of the day we play the new Star Wars force Unleashed game. It's awesome! But that night, and check this, almost 24 hours after the concert, my friend goes online to look for the concert bootleg. I tell him he's crazy and to give it time, it hasn't even been a day and it takes time. He looks anyway and comes up empty. I tell him to let me try and after one google search... I find it! I've actually been listening to the show as I write this out. xd
So there you have it folks, one crazy weekend of uncertainty where everything worked out because I have the most awesomely amazing friends in the world. Thank you for reading. *bows*
tl;dr? Concert on Friday, no ride, yes ride, no ride, yes ride. Rainy rain, rain stops. Awesome show, meet with friends. No ride home, friends help with that. Food food food, sleep sleep rude awakening. More food, music store, walk to train, train ride home, no ride from station. Ride, star wars video game, bootleg of show obtained. END. mad heart
But don't take my word for it, enjoy. heart

Yeah, I haven't been watching it for some time either. It's still just hard to believe that's it's actually gone now though. Excellent choice from Steve though to go out on that line.

I've heard stories about Fred Gallagher. And they weren't very complimentary, either.
