She looked very much the professional as she stood in front of the mirror, checking for wrinkles in her gray pants suit. Not the normal casual science gear but now all business. Of course embroidered into her right lapel was the Echo insignia, her identification badges were clipped to the other.

Another smooth down of her jacket before she went about doing her hair, brushing it about five times before pulling it back and up some, making sure it was out of her face. Now fixed odds were set to their clear mode, where the green tent was removed from the screens and were closed and set to hang in her pocket.

That done she went about actually putting on make up as well. Neutral shades of course to match her neutal attire. She was fine she could do this...of course she was still suffering a bit of withdrawl but she could do this.

Erik knocked on the door once, then cam ein, watching her go about her frantic preparations. "You'll be fine....you're too valuable to get thrown off." Quiet for a moment. "How are you going to plead to your charges?"

"Guilty on them. If they do do anything then it won't be as bad."

Reason number one why James didn't drink. he was an unhappy drunk. reason number two..hangovers and bioware in your head really, really hated you in the morning. But he still had the day to do, and was up, drinking a cocktail to help his boiware spasming skull to stop trying to liquidate his brain.

Like Jelena, he was going proffessional. that ment dress whites. Highly polsih mirror like shoes, prefectly pressed and unwrinkled white pants, shirt, black tie, polished brimmed hat. right above the right chest pocket were a series of ribbons. medals would just look like bragging. nto that he had many by hey, they were good medals.

Perfectly ramrod straight bearing, the taps on his shoes clicking, he made his way to Jelena's room to escort her to the Board.

Lillia was running late. She'd been up most of the night trying to figure things out and had fallen asleep still in her lab uniform at her desk. Crap. So a quick shower just to get herself semi clean and she started going through her closet. She needed someting professional enough to present a good image.

So a few moments later she found the only unwrinkled shirt she had, a light pink wiht a black skirt. Nude pantyhose and black heels. Her hair was quickly brushed and pulled back into a loose chignon, with two tendrils at her cheeks. A bit of blush on her cheeks and a quick swipe of mascara. Her face was clean enough to not need concealer. Light pink lip gloss just to give her lips a shine. Tiny heart earrings found their way into her ears and a small silver bracelet on her wrist. She rooted through her closet till she found her black jaket, which was then pulled on and buttoned.

She was ready. She headed out of her room a little unsteady in the unfamiliar shoes but quickly gained her bearings. And then clicked her way over to Jelly's room, meeting up with James. He looked rather militarish in his whites and she just shook her head then knocked on Jelena's door.

"To everything?"

"I practically know what they're goign to call me on. Nothing more than the security leak. As PL I'm supposed to take the responsibility, no matter who's fault it is." A knock at the door drew her attention and she sighed. "Wish me luck?"

He smiled lightly and pressed a kiss to her cheek then hugged her, patting her back before turning her around and giving her a push forward. "Good luck, go on now. And after this is over, we're all going to take a break and go out, have some fun."

"Whatever you say." A slight smile before she opened the door, looking Lillia and James over. "Well...don't we all look nice." Nice indeed, and her withdrawl induced trembling was barely visible, which was also good. "Let's go then shall we?"

Even his bioware was polished. James was looking good. if you liked a man in uniform, James was a catch right now for the eye and the drool.

"Of course."

So James lead the way, a brisk, military pace. the 'I'm going somewhere important so don't bothre me with things' walk...though he did stop to pick up a security locked breifcase at his room on the way.

A small smile at Jelena, "You look beautiful Jelly." And she did. It wasn't just to say it so that she kept her confidence level up, Jelly really was a knockout.

But moving off down the hall her heels clickin with every step making her wonder why she ever forced her poor feet into them. It certainly wasn't the best idea with these floors but the grav boots just would have clashed too much with the skirt. She wasn't goign for cyber business woman here. In any case she had no idea where they were goign so she simply click clicked her way after James and Jelly.

"Do you know what you're goign to say?"

A nod to James as she walked slightly behind and to the side of him, Lillia on her other side at equal pace...after all, they weren't military speed walkers...and they were in heels to boot. "Thank you Lillia...though don't get used to it." Along with James' own shoes...it was a nice little clicking down the halls and through transporters until they were briskly making thier way through radiance.

"Its' not a matter of me saying anything...it's a matter of confessing or denying. The Board system is much like a cout of law down on Earth. We're strict in Fleet, that's all there is too it. Debate only comes with 'not guilty' pleas and others who choose to contest things."

Of course all too soon, they were walking down a hallway that had those standard issue sliding fleet doors. There was something akin to a receptionist desk complete with receptionist out front. "Dr. Trevale, eight o'clock." The woman checked on the screen, nodded, and then gestured them on. Jelena had to take a moment in front of the doors, raising a hand to check her shaking...she didn't want them misinterpurting that... "Well...I hope you're both prepared...and try to behave..."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2006 9:23 pm

"It's not a matter of behaving. it's a matter of making sure things are done right, and that you, or Lillia, get into too much trouble. Hence the reason I brought this."

Lightly patting the briefcase.

"And don't think I don't kow what your planning, Jelena. And it's fine with me if that's how you'll play it. but I will make sure the other children play fair. And I'm a SEAL. we're always prepared."

Lillia blinked and looked between Jelly and James. Okay...she wasn't quite sure what that was about, after all she had no idea how these proceedings went, though Jelly telling her it's a lot like court on Earth gave her an idea.

"What;s in the briefcase adn how is that going to help?" She oculdnt' resist asking though she had a feeling that she wasn't goign to get an answer. Jelly had only to walk through tehse doors and she'd probably be 'put on trial' so to speak for Lillia's own indiscretion. It just wasn't fair and Lillia intended to make sure Jelly didn't protect her and it was well known that it was her fault.

She would much rather lose her job, asm uch as that would hurt than have Jelly shut down. THat would kill her while Lillia could move on and find another job. Jelly would never bounce back if they took away her Echoes, of that Lillia was sure.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2006 9:33 pm

"I'm just saying...don't do anything that's going to get you thrown in the brig..." A slight shake of her head and a quirked eyebrow at the breifcase. "Believe me James, I know what I'm doing...just going to fess up to what I know to be the true accusations.

Taking a breath and tugging at her jacket a moment she stepped through the doors as the sensors made them open to the place that most people dreaded, the Board Council room.

The room was that sterile fleet issue white walls and flooring, sleek looking with one wall that was nothing but thick standard fleet issue windows. At the from of the room was a long semi circle counter, a little elevated off the ground, meaning the people sitting behind it could look down upon who stood before them. Figured they wanted that psyche out technique. Thirteen people composed Board, Fleet Captain Micheal Noris was the center of attention to it all. He was judge they were essentially jury. It was much court proceeding-esk.

Jelena merely stood in the relative center of the room, a little column with a flat desk top to her right side with a slightly tilted flat computer screen and a stylus...she knew how to do this. And of course Lillia and James were pointed off to the right side to be out of the way. She took a breath and merely waited in an eerie silence that often came with Board. It was always overly professional.

He started with a frown and condescending look to the young woman, a side glance at who accompanied her. That figured...she thought she could help herself. Not this time. As gesture of his hands to start proceedings. "Board case number 927. For the record...your name and designation."

"Doctor Jelena Nicolaiha Trevale. ID code 56287204. Project Echo Leader on Star Cruiser Envision, clearance levels blue, green, and yellow."

A simple nod from him as he clasped his hands on the oh so frightening sterile looking desk in front of him. "Dr. Trevale...you've been called to Radiance Board Council upon charges against your person. Now, as I list them you may plead to them as you choose." He waited for her own nod before he looked to his ever so lovely list that had grown from a certain someone's information. "On charge one of improper use of Fleet website space by your own propaganda in the last six months entailing a certain wager, how do you plead?"

The prank Joey pulled...the video feed on the site...the announcement that James was hers. She had had a part in that. "Guilty." Hm...how many charges did he have exactly?

He made a mark on his paper, other Board members did the same. Though the rest were quiet and merely watched. "On the second charge of allowing Captain James Moira work unauthorized in the restricted back labs without acquiring proper access and going through proper channels, suspected influenced by your social status with Commander Moira, how do you plead?"

Wow...okay so they were indeed keeping tight checks on her...she hadn't expected that one. Though it was true too...she was sort of letting James gallivant about her labs and sure he had clearance to be there...but not to work there. "Guilty."

Mark paper, disapproving look. "On the third charge of improper objectivism including the improper interactions with specimens of Project Echo, improper procedure with the same, and improper use to supplies with the same as well, how do you plead?"

Captain Noris was digging deep and digging hard. He had certainly been watching and keeping tabs hadn't he? She unfortunately had let her guard down. And she knew what he was talking about. Petting them, treating them as if they really were her children and not just her specimens as he called them, cutting corners to get what she wanted, and when she got what she wanted she would use them as they weren't intended. "Guilty."

Mark, look. "On the fourth charge of violation of proper boarding and disembarking procedures concerning your assistant Miss Lillia Nikkco, including not debriefing, how do you plead?"

Impressive...he was using all the ammo he had on her. But again she knew what he was talking about. Lillia's emergency departure...even if it was an emergency status...it wasn't gone about right. She had let her simply go without any debriefing and she had to work the system to get her back on board too. "Guilty."

Mark, mark, look to his fellow board members as a few seemed to shift or clear their throats. Back to Jelena with that cold look of his. "On the fifth charge of lacking control and supervision to the Echo variant ID MC-M1 aka 'Tempest', pertaining to his containment, how do you plead?"

Five charges...and even Tempest? Tabs was not the work...it was like he was always there with her, knew her every move. And again Tempest was something she couldn't deny...he was probably a double charge. After all...she treated him as a house cat and he practically got run of the whole ship...she didn't want to lock him up though..."Guilty."

"And on the final sixth charge of negligence and infraction in security, leading to the leak of text, data, pictures, and quotes on Project Echo in an Earth bound journal and the resulting backlash of the incident causing the Fleet time and resources, how do you plead?"

Of course he would save that one till last. It wasn't directly her fault...she didn't know how it got out, and it wasn't Lillia...then again her not being debriefed would be called Jelena's fault. But just because she didn't know...didnt' make it any less her fault. It was her responsibility as Project Leader to ensure her files were safe. Someone could of easily hacked into her computers and what not, hell someone had almost gotten away with Tempest. "Guilty."

Mark, long cold condescending look. A few murmurs among his peers...six charges all with various sub-charges that were all written in paper. On the counter, he pressed a button and the screen next to Jelena flicked to life, listing her charges and the marked responses. "Review the charges and responses marked...and sign off on each." Signatures were still the binding force in the law system.

She wanted to sigh...she wanted to do anything but sign, but then again...she'd brought this on herself. And thus, picking up the stylus, her signature was scrawled in each place it was needed, and her ID code was filled in as well.

Captain Noris' attention now turned to her little group. They had to make things difficult. He knew she wouldn't contest her charges...but he was sure they had their two cents to add to it. "Commander Moira, Miss Nickko...seeing as you have chose to accompany Dr. Trevale to her Board meeting, you are entitled to contest charges. However since they have already been pleade guilty to and signed off on, your testimony has little bearing...but is still welcome from you. Would you like to state anything pertaining to the six charges against Dr. Trevale?" No he didn't one up the system by addressing them after she signed. If she had plead not guilty and signed, she could of maybe had a few dropped without question. But that didn't happen now did it? "Do please state names and designations before you begin."

Lillia stepped forward though she was shellshocked by all the accusations brought against Jelena. It was like the Board knew all and that was slightly creepy.

"Lillia Brianna Nickko. ID 61730843. Assistant to Dr. Trevale on Envision. Clearance levels blue and green." She took a deep breath and ten said "I'd like to take full responsibility for the accusation brought against her about the leaking of text. It was not in any way her fault, it was mine. I leaked not only the information but unknowingly allowed others to obtain information that they should not have. It was my breach of protocol and my breach of security that caused the article to be printed and I would like Dr. Trevale absolved from that charge even though she plead guilty. She was trying to protect me and as I've told her many times before, I do not need her protection."

Deep breaths now Lillia, you're almost done. "I ask this Council to seriously consider how much control Dr. Trevale could contain over me while I was on Earth. We did communicate through email and I was apprised of all that was going on here on Fleet during my stay. IT was my carelessness in leavin gdocuments as well as my laptop as well as maintaining a steady relationship with a reporter from the press that ultimately resulted in the aforementioned breach."

Another deep breath. "I'd also like Dr. Trevale absolved of all charges on the improper embarking and disembarking for the Fleet. The blame for that lies with me. I did not give Dr. Trevale time to explain teh proper procedures, instead she gave me permission to leave and I did not stick around to listen to how it should be done. At the time I merely wanted to get to Earth. When I returned to Fleet, I discovered in my own carelessness, that all documentation as well as my ID tags had been forgotten. And to add to my transgressions, in what turned out to be an unwarranted and childish move I chose to surprise my surperiors and not inform them I was returning. So you see, once again that blame lies wiht me, not Dr. Trevale."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2006 10:13 pm

James sure as hell did. he walked over, setting the briefcase on top of teh stylus. a slight grin to Lillia. girl had courage, that was for sure.

"Commander James Moria. ID code 89763321. Military Supervisor of Project Metamorphosis, Military Advisor to Fleet Security. Clearance levels blue, green, orange, white."

James unlocked the briefcase, but left it shut for now.

"For the charge of: Improper use of Fleet website space by your own propaganda in teh last six months entailing a certian wager. First off, that was not Jelena Trevale that acted in that manner, that was myself, and I have teh visual recordings from teh security cameras on Radiance to prove that.

On the charge of: violation of proper boarding and disembarking procedures concerning Lillia Nikkco. Every here knows damn well that no one leaves this without an authorization from Fleet security. I signed that documentation myself, as I do have that clearance. I have those documents with me, so this is a Fleet security overlook, not a Project Echo issue.

On the charge of: Lacking control and supervision to teh Echo variant ID MC-M1. I beleive you are reffering to the incident earlier where said variant was found on top of Jelena being unconcious. this was the result of a authorized technician trying to sell said variant to someone on earth for the sum of 2.1 million. Not an overlook or lack of control from Jelena. The buyer is presently being sought through invetigation.

On the last charge. I have found that it was not Jelena trevale, nor Lillia Nikkco that was teh leak in this situation. I have data that shows a Board member present here purposefully, and with intent, left backdoor access only accessable by board members open, and that during this time, information that Lillia Nikkco coudl not access was downloaded into another system. Point of entry access was from a moblie unit."

A moment of silence to let that sink in.

"As to that, this accessing unit woudl have to hooking into Echo databases. the only mobile units accessable to that data base belong Lillia Nikkco, and Jelena Trevale. this lead me to suspect Lillia, until further investigation. This leads me to think that a Board member, working in conjunction with one of the elder Nikkcos, most likely her mother, as her father during this time was hospitalized, is responsible for teh information leak."

A look to Captian Noris, in that, care to press your luck? manner.

"As such, I ask that the aforemention charges are held to my own person, and the last is dropped until such time as the true offending party is acsertained."

A look across the board. scathing and dangerous. James knew secrets.

Micheal nodded to Lillia as she finsihed her little piece. Naive girl...seh knew not the weight of a PL's responsibiliy. Even if they didn't help or do anything then they were still responsible...that's just how it was. Meaning thigns she tried to keep from being thrown at Jelena, weren't even steady in the eyes of responsibility overrule.

"Miss Nikkco...here on Fleet we practice what we call 'Responsibility Overrule'. Much like parents and children, Project Leaders, or PL, are held accountable for all actions and violations of Fleet protocol and standards. Everything you did is put in the hands of Dr. Trevale, who failed in her duty to uphold her responsibilities." Simple as that.

He hated James Moira so much though. Though he was a bit wrong...the man was suspicious and thought Board was out to get everyone. But that was quite the contraty. Captain Noris wasn't tapping anything at all nor leakign anything. He liked being proverbial emporer of Fleet and wanted to keep Fleet up...that meant he had to play nice. So if anyone was doign any covert info diving, it wasn't him.

A hard look at him...one excuse and he would throw him in the brig...another two and he'd throw him back down to Earth. Now Michael respected a good military man...but this was a matter of annoyance. James meddled to much sometimes.

"Let me point out where you're wrong...Commander Moira. Documents and logs show an email sent from Dr. Trevale to Joesph Carin specifically instructing him to put certain text on the site and regulate it for a few days. I have documentations too. So that charge will stand."

"You signed it, Erik Donner signed it. Dr. Trevale never did...and even if that fact is ignored there is still the fact that she wasn't debreifed and the one that upon return Dr. Trevale manipulated the system of reenry for her own uses to get Miss Nikkco back on Fleet, using improper channels and clearance. And we are not discussing Project Echo, we are discussing Dr. Trevale. Again, I also have that documentation. Charge stands."

"For the charge pretainging to Echo MC-M1, I speak of the way she lets the creature slink through our air ducts and roam about not only Envison but had been reported by several people to be on other cruisers as well. That clearly shows a lack of control on her part. You bringing attention to the attempted smuggling of the creature only shows her carelessness going further. Charge stands."

Though okay...he was truly surprised at the last one. That was certinally news to him. Now...Micheal was a harsh man...but like stated, he loved his Fleet...sure he was the father to it that would prefer the belt over a firm grounding, but that's just how he was. And he encouraged loyalty through his higher officers adn what not. So this had his attention. "Really now...Commander Moira...you've brought something to my attention now haven't you?" No it wasn't a lie, he was truly baffled. Of course at James' direct implication of the Nikkcos...well that brought his thoughts to JAcklyn...who had called him earlier. He gave a sweeping look to both Lillia and James. "Well thank you, I believe that's enough."

A look to Jelena. "It's your lucky day Dr. Trevale...your most severe charge is the one that you're getting a break on." A few marks on the desk in front of him and things were stricken from records and the like. "Seeing as Commander Moira has brought to my attention this...family problem..." There was a look to Lillia at that one, "it's most certinally agreeable to drop the charge against Dr. Trevale. I suggest you get to the bottom of it, or it will be Miss Nikkco facing Board on the issue from direct family involvement and thus suspicion."

Jelena nodded lightly to Michael. She looked calm on the outside but she was screaming and jumping around with happiness on the inside. That one charge was her biggest fear...because that could could of gotten her shipped down to a military base in a hearbeat. "Thank you Captain Noris."

"Don't thank me yet. You still have five against you which you've pleaded guilty to and you will be sentenced accordingly. Until your sentencing date, you are allowed to continue you work as you see fit on projects you have already in procees. I don't want to see anything new from you. Understand me?"

"Yes Sir, I understand sir."

"Good. You'll be notified of your next date. Till then you're dismissed Dr. Trevale, have a nice day."

"Yes sir, thank you." And she took that in stride...it couldn't be that bad right? Captain Noris seemed to be giving her an all around break. Of course her expressionw as calm until she left the room with James and Lillia not to far behind....where upon out of Board site she leaned against the fall on her arms, staring at the wall. "That could of been worse..."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2006 10:54 pm

Lillia about fell over when she heard James' implications to her family and then reiterated by the Captain. She had no knowledge of this, hadn't suspected anything of the sort. But that meant...no...it couldn't be true. She did blindly follow Jelena and James but her mind flitted in so many other directions.

James knew things, things she didn't know. And she intended to find out. Though of course she'd gotten her own mini lecture on Fleet protocol and it made sense that a Project Leader was responsible for everything, kind of like the parents take the blame for their children's actions and a minor can't be held accountable for waht they do since the parents are at fault for improper upbringings.

"I suppose so..." She was scared. The Captain had made it perfectly clear that Lillia herself could be up on charges very shortly if the real culprit wasn't found. Why her family? Why her? What did James know and why was he trying to destroy her mother's reputation? Something wasn't making sense here and tha tupset Lillia's analytical mind. She knew she didn't have all the facts, taht's why she'd been so frustrated the night before when she was studyign documents. Though she'd really thought seh could get a lot of those charges dropped because they were after all her fault.

"Well it's over and that's certainly a good thing. Now you can go about your own business until sentencing but they can't do anything that horrible to you right?"

James was quite silent during that. But a slight smirk at the end.

"Not a problem, Captain. I'll have the Tempest issue solve soon enough, and investigations are already underway for teh other issues. However, One final point before I leave, in reguard specifically to teh Tempest issue, and the issue you bring to mind about the leak."

those eyes locked on Captian Norris..then he left with the others, but then just turned back around and walked right back in.

"Had the equipment been properly updated as it needed to be, with the same care you show to your own doings, adn the military aspects of this fleet, these issues wouldn't be a problem. Now everyone here knows that Project Echo is the most controverstial and as such you seem to be on the mind of letting it erode hoping for a failure on a massive level. I would hope that I am wrong. but the equipment was in such a sad state that a three year old with a mouse could have rewired and redid that entire system."

James opened teh briefcase, letting Jelena and Lillia wait outside for a moment.

"Upgrdes are coming shortly, however. Captian, I have something here that you need to look over, since I got you here anyway for the moment to hand this to you."

Of course in teh briefcase was all sorts of files and papers. everything he had to back himself up. and picked up one packet, and walked over and placed it infront of him. what was in it? all the documentation for approval to offically be working with the Echo project, includign copies of both master degreeings in anthropolgy and bioengineering.

"I look forward to hearing from you on that."

Then back out to the other two.

"Now that is done. Lillia, might I take a look at your laptop?"
