Conner navigated the parking lot quickly; driving the van over the grass islands and between the larger spaces between the parked cars to cut the tedious corners. His back jarred as the front wheels hit the edge of another curb and lurched over it. Now that he was close to the building he skirted around it until he caught sight of the X-jet and the cherry red convertible that belonged to one of the X-men.
He jammed on the brakes and felt a shock of panic as the bald spare tire lost grip and the back of the van slid out and fish-tailed around. As soon as the van stopped Conner clamboured out and ran over to the, now visible, group of X-men who seemed to be watching and waiting for something. He inserted himself into the group and looked in the same direction as everyone else, watching the fight between two elemental powered mutants for a moment befroe blurting out a question.
"So has mutant fueding always been a spectator sport or are we doing something about this?"

Tobias scowled to himself. Yet more proof that the traitors were good for nothing: they had left the fire he'd started instead of trying to help any of the mundanes that might have been trapped inside. They couldn't even live up to their own mundie-loving traitorous ways. Only one thing to do now: see how much trouble he could stir up at the mall.
"C'mon, Albel. Let's party. They won't expect an assault from the rear."

"This is just too fun!!" David exclaimed, still in full-on psychotic mode. Something about the mayhem that they were causing just fed the crazed part of his psyche, and made him feel a strange sense of freedom. "Heheeehahaha!!!" he laughed, sounding more and more like his current comrade Pyro by the minute. By chance, he happened to spin around while conducting his aerial orchestra, and noticed Rogue sneaking towards them through the smoke. Pyro seemed to be having to much fun to notice even if Typhoon were to draw attention to it, so he decided to try to handle the little problem himself.
"Well, hello there!!" he said, pushing the smoke aside with a gust of wind that would no doubt cause anyone caught in the path to flinch, at the least. His path was clear, and Rogue no longer had any cover to hide herself in.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"And that takes care of that," Morgan said, dusting off his hands as the last of the guards were KO'd by him and Victoria. "Now, let's keep going. With this many guards, I doubt there's more than a couple left anywhere else, so it should be smooth sailing," he said, heading out the door on the other side of the guard quarters, and motioning for the others to follow.

Sarah had done nothing but watch Morgan and Victoria plow through the guards. She blinked trying not to hyperventilate. "Y..y...y..yea.......s..sure......no...no problem......" She stammered swallowing and managing ot pry her feet from the floor to follow him even though she wanted to just turn around and go home to convince herself that this was some sort of bizzare dream.

Victoria smiled in a self satisfied sort of way as she looked curiously at the room around her. The flock of armed guards that surrounded them less then two minutes ago was now spread evenly across the floor.
"Yeah. Smooth," she said, at Morgan's comment as she tip-toed toward the door. It was true, so far their mission had gone without to many snags, but she had to wonder how long that would last. Afterall, that little task of saving the universe from complete and utter distruction was still looming over their heads.
Though Victoria had been around just long enough to know how not to let the pressure bog her down, the new girl, from the looks of it, did not. With absolutely no color left in her face, the girl seemed to still be in shock and on the brink of tears over the whole ordeal.
"Are you ok?" she asked flatly, tapping the girl on the shoulder as the trio shuffled through to the next room.

"You get used to this sorta thing after a few days. Or you have a nervous breakdown. Believe me, I've seen it happen. A few combat training sessions with Logan, though, and this'll seem like a walk in the park," Morgan said. Truth be told, he wanted to be done with this as fast as possible. He could leave getting worked up until later, when the fate of all existence wasn't hanging in the balance.
Fortunately, their destination wasn't terribly far from the guard quarters, so with a little luck, things would be over soon. As Morgan stepped through the doors, and into the next room, an impressed whistle escaped his lips. "Well, now. That's interesting," he said, eyeing the rather large metal portal thingy in front of them. Thingy was the only word he could find to describe it, because he didn't think there really was a word for it. Of course, the metal ring that surrounded the portal wasn't what was really drawing Morgan's attention. It was more the swirling, angry red-and-black portal in the middle of it.
"That can't be good," Morgan said, eyeing the thingy.
"Excellent, I see that you've found it," crackled the voice from the crystals given to them earlier.
"Yeah, great. Could you explain to me why you had to lead us through the guard barracks?" Morgan said, irritation obvious in his voice.
"Oops. That was a bit of a mistake on my part. I thought it was a supply room. Things aren't exactly labeled on this schematic," Blink replied.
Morgan simply let out an exasperated sigh.
"Alright, I'm going to guide you through the shutdown procedure now. Go to the console right in front of the machine and-ksshh-then-hisssshhhhhhh-but whatever you do, don't-kshhhhhhhhhhshhshshshhhhh-" And then the transmission cut out.
"Blink? Blink?!" Morgan said, growing a bit concerned. This machine looked very, VERY complicated. He did not want to start randomly pressing buttons to see if he could shut it down that way. Without Blink, they weren't going to be doing anything.
"Great. Now the transmission's gone. What else could go-"
"Foolish, pathetic, humans. For years, I have been trying to pierce the wall between our worlds! So much effort I expended trying to break through! And here, all I had to do was wait!!" came a deep, booming voice from the crystals. Obviously, this was not Blink's voice.
"Oh, lovely. And who might you be?"
"I am Gol T'Chak, Devourer of SOULS!! And thanks to the work of your puny race, I am free to conquer your world!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!"
"I just had to ask, didn't I?" Morgan sighed, placing a hand over his eyes and shaking his head.

victoria's tap on the shoulder caused her to jump about 3 feet in the air with a startled yelp. She panted a few times to catch her breath. "Okay??" She asked in a mildly hysterical voice. "Oh, I'm fine....just dandy....." She said quickly still trying to get a hold of herself and with visible effort managed to at least calm down to the point where she didn't look like she was going to flip out. "okay....okay...I'm fine....I'm fine...." She said more to herself then to Victoria. She didn't really hearing what Morgan had said a second or two ago.
Now that she had herself convinced that she was okay she looked around the room then at the portal. "Is it me or do all the Sci-Fi evil portals kind of look like that?" She asked just before Blink chimed in and started giving them instructions. After loosing her and picking up Gol T'ch....whatever the heck his name was she swallowed and looked at Victoria. "How come every extra-dimensional monster in almost every cheap Sci-Fi flick ever created has the title destroyer of worlds or devourer of souls?" She was well aware that that person with that title could probably hear her. "Is it some sort of male ego issue or something like that?" She was still a little punchy from the fight with the guards so her sense of humor was a bit warped at the moment. "Or is it from a pure lack of imagination?"

{Hehee... You two are gonna love this bit. Remember what I said earlier about the villain? Also, here's where I make that little change to Morgan that we discussed earlier.}
"Do not make light of my name, lesser being! I shall destroy you for your insolence!!" boomed the voice, this time pouring not from the small crystals clutched in the hands of the "heroes", but from the swirling portal itself. Electricity crackled along the rim, and smoke began to pour forth from the gateway.
"I have arrived!!!"
"Oh no, whatever will we-AGH!!!"
A bolt of blood red energy shot forth from beyond the portal, striking Morgan in the chest, and propelling him a good ten feet backwards into a wall. This hurt all the more, mainly because the wall was covered in display cases, as well as several small glass domes, one of which contained some sort of viscous black liquid that seemed to be swirling about on it's own.
He smashed through the domes, slamming into the wall and leaving a noticable dent. He slid down the wall, landing in the puddle of liquid, which behaved quite unlike a liquid should. Rather than splattering across the ground, like liquid normally would, it instead began to drag itself closer to Morgan, and began to wrap itself around his legs and up his body.

Rogue was about half way to the fire dude when she was spotted by the other guy, who decided to send a gust of wind straight at her. It completely obliterated her smokey cover, and rammed into her with enough force to push her back a half step.
She turned to her attacker, and placing her hands on her hips, gave him a small grin. "Well that's mighty nice of ya. Clearin' the air like that and all. It was gettin' so bad I couldn't breath." She was taking a risk here, knowing that she didn't have much to defend herself with, but she was hopping the Tabby would be able to come up with some sort of diversion or help.

A gust of wind brushed behind Conner, catching his attention. He scanned around the roof of the burning mall and saw two more people facing off against each other, he recognised one of them as the Rogue, the young woman he'd upset that morning. He split off from the silent group and headed straight for her, ignoring the fire escape. He stopped at the wall and did some quick calculations in his head. He stepped back from the wall to give him a decent run up. He looked around on the ground for something small and missle-worthy; a palm sized rock fit the bill. He hefted the rock, testing it's weight, then put it in his pocket and ran at the wall and jumped. He shifted his weight to help him grip the wall. he paused for a second and reached a hand out to grab what precious little hold there was and ascended the building.
The climb up was fast, Conner never had to worry about finding handholds or even about falling down, so there was little risk. He grabbed at the edge of the roof and hauled himself over, Rogue and the other mutant who seemed to be controlling the wind around him. He took out the rock and tossed it lightly in his hand as he calculated the throw. The rock would be a warning shot only, Con would make sure of it, the last thing he needed was a concussed mutant. He pulled his arm back, got a good grip on the rock and threw.

Though his child-like attention span was still focused on the water-girl at ground level, Pyro noted the arrival of another roof-top visitor with much glee. At first, because of the dense, smoky fog, he could not see who was on the roof besides David and himself, but after a quick gust of wind from his comrade, the air was clear enough to reveal a dark haired female standing opposite the two males.
"G'day Shiela!" said John, waving his hand in greeting and bowing with an unnecessary flourish. "You're one of 'em, I trust," he said, giving the girl a quick look and then nodding back at the X-Jet parked in the horizon. Snickering to himself, he was about to open his mouth to comment on her lack of a matching uniform when...lo and behold...another humanoid found it's way to the roof-top!
"Nice try," said John, smirking at the newly arrived male as he tossed what looked to be an ordinary rock in his and David's direction. Extending his flamethrowers outward, with a fiendish gleam in the eye, Pyro was careful to catch the rock at the peak of it's path through the air with a short but sweet blast of extremely high temperature fire. The rock went from solid to custard-like within an instant before falling with an odd sort of 'thwack' to the roof.
"Care to give it another go, mate," said John with a smirk as he let his flamethrowers flicker threateningly on either side.

The group arrived back at the brotherhoods house and despite Zion's erratic driving they made it in one piece. Zion got out of the car and opened the back door for the ones in back to get out. "We're home safe and sound kids."

Lizz took the return trip alot better than the trip there. Apparently alcohol helped to sooth Lizz's nerves. "Yey!" She said and slid out the car waiting for poor Jillian to get out. She yawned and streatched. "That wasn't a bad way to kill a few hours...so now what?" She had to ask.
---------------------------------------------------------------
She watched the beam shoot from the gate and send morgan into the cabinets. She blinked and watched that puddle of goo start to attack him. The scene had the same facination as a train wreck. No matter how much you wanted to do something about it there was just nothing you could do other than stand there and stare at it.

Jillann manages to get the seat belt out, with most of the drunk scared out of her. She got out and fell into the trash can causing it to fall with a crash, dumping bagged trash on the garage floor. "Ow damn trash can..." Jillann said still sitting, not having the coordination to get up. "It hates me." She slapped it and ended hurting her hand more than the trash can. "Damn it" she said running it all into one word.
