Oooh! I like Luna's style of con report. I tend to do something similar with mine.

Kane - those weapons are pretty awesome... going to use them for anything?

Fox-shrine Luna is cute (though out of focus.) Those outfits are always so pretty. Is this specifically from one of those new fox anime out or an original creation?

Wait until Saturday's report. The Convention Center Security team had to close down the floor level where Main Events was being held because of all the idiots rushing to line up for the Masquerade. xd

Well, Coo from Wagaya no Inari sama is indeed a fox demon (spirit, or whatever you want to call her), but she tends to wear clothing more like a shinto priest's outfit. Yoko from Tactics is also a fox demon, but I don't think she ever wore a Miko outfit (but I haven't finished the series yet). I haven't seen any of the other shows with foxes in them, so my idea was a fox shrine maiden at an Inari shrine. xd

Now, children, Auntie Luna is going off to Connecticon tomorrow. I expect you all to be on your best behavior.

And, if you're not on your best behavior...I want pics... wink
But Auntie Luna, if you're away, who's going to keep the Gator under my bed away while I sleep? sad

Nothing can get under your bed though. You sleep on a mattress on the floor! talk2hand

Sometimes the Gator just needs to play a little... twisted

You'll survive...mostly. Just make sure Zely has a clone handy in case things get messy.
Clone? Why would Zely need to make clones? I'm a very crafty and survivable person. I haven't been killed before have I? I AM THE ORIGINAL, RIGHT?!!! D:

I saw your clone in the mall at Spencer's though...you never did say anything to that..and I'm freaking telling you the truth. He even sounded like you a little bit.

Wow, that bad that the CC staff had to do something over the con staff? It's cool Connecticon is big enough to warrant a CC these days though. Line issues are always tough on planning and man power.

Neat! It's very pretty and it makes me want a shrine maiden outfit... but I think I'm frustrated enough with hakama at the moment though after my Bleach costume. Being bad at ironing doesn't help when making pleats.

Have you ever done/thought of costuming as Megumi from Kenshin?

I wanted to a few years ago, but I had trouble finding an outfit like hers. I got lucky. I was able to buy that outfit at the con.

Day 2 of Connecticon

Saturday

So, we wake up early and all take turns in the shower. Then we decide to take advantage of the discount coupons for the breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant. Oh, but that was a great buffet.

We make our way to the convention center, and Stream takes off to go do some more volunteering. Kane and I go off wandering. The Dealer's Room isn't open yet, so we take in a few panels, sat in a few screenings, chat with fellow geeks, take some pictures, and once again enter the realm of the Dealer's Room. The day really was fairly normal, for an anime convention. Saw my friends, bought my miko outfit, and cosplayed the rest of the day. My biggest fear was that some idiot would come up to me and ask "Are you Kikyo?" As if Kikyo is the only shrine maiden/priestess in anime there ever was. rolleyes

So, evening beckons. The second Gaia panel is coming up, the one where they give out the giant Kiki. I'm waiting in line with my fellow Gaians, when I hear an announcement over the intercom that the line for the Masquerade will be forming in a few minutes. Now, Stream was supposed to meet me at the panel, but I get a phone call from him, telling me that he can't get upstairs because the CCC security closed down access to the 3rd floor. The Fire Marshall was even there. All the escalators were turned to go down. Why? Because apparently there was a near riot because of people attempting to line up for the Masquerade. I am so glad I'm usually not interested in the Masquerade. Anyways, Stream finally manages to get upstairs, and the line for the masquerade gets under control.

Funnily enough, DJ Hellsing drafted Stream into helping him hand out those gold flyers. So, we all file in, and DJ Hellsing announces that the con has given him a 3rd panel on Sunday for anyone not able to get into. But, apparently Connecticon Gaians are a friendly bunch, and we filled every nook and cranny of that panel room with Gaians. If the Fire Marshall had poked his head in, we would have all been kicked out.

So, the panel was fun, and as I mentioned previously, some girl who wasn't even a Gaian won the giant Kiki. After that I went to the voice acting panel, and found out something about Pokemon that I never knew. Apparently Pikachu never had an English voice actor. All the other Pokemon had one, but not Pikachu.

So, after THAT was over, I dragged myself back to the hotel room, took a bath, and fell asleep.

Mmmm tons of assorted manga.

Does the Masq at Connecticon run out of seats? A lot of Masqs I've worked for or poked in on actually don't. There are usually seats to be had. Of course, people do line up for the good seats, but my feel is that over the years, lining up for the Masq has definitely toned down. I remember when it was a crazy long affair.

I heard that the AX Masq did fill up, but their venue requires they pass out tickets in advance, so that changes the line dynamic a bit. SDCC has simulcast rooms, so I assume they do indeed fill up. However, the smaller cons I've been to, it's generally not too hard to waltz in a little late.

More cons need to look into simulcasting to special hotel channels... even if there are multiple hotels not connected to the convention center involved. The one year I watched a Masq that way, over pizza in my own hotel room with my friends being as loud and lazy as we wanted, was truly a great year.

I don't think Connecticon has ever run out of space for the Masq. And it's even more bizarre, since they doubled the space for Main Events this year. My guess is that the rush was for people who wanted good seats, who didn't want to be way in the back. Or it could just be that they're idiots. I don't know if Connecticon would be able to simulcast the Masquerade to the con hotel, but it might be a good idea to suggest for next year.

If it's not filling, it probably wouldn't be worth the additional cost/aggravation. Though, it might make more people's experience positive. I know that I would probably tune into more Masqs at some point if it were done like that.

I guess the thing with a Masq is that you really do get to see more with better seats... though viewing screens tend to go a long way. That's why I like AMVs though... it doesn't matter what kind of seat you get!

Paaaaaain is going awaaaaaay~ whee
Apparently spend a few days doing nothing but laying down helped more than I thought - I figured the stitches weren't healing as well yet because it still hurt, but today it was okay. Woo!

Fuzzy-but-cute Luna is adorable =3 I'll have to read more indepth later on the con stuff.
