Rae x Rae I said I feel it doesn't exist the way others do. Not that it absolutely doesn't. If he intended something that I don't think is there, no problem with that. Other people having different interpretations or feelings on what exactly the creator succeeded with doesn't hurt me a bit! (: The problem is that he intended something that he didn't really elucidate within the pages of the actual comic. All his theories and ideas are shown in practice through the series, but in order to get in and understand the underlying root of these ideas and their real world analogues, the reader has to rely on supplemental information, which has been noted as a fairly glaring mistake on Morrison's part. For one thing, I'm pretty sure that the phrase "chaos magic" never appears in the comic, and yet almost every page is illustrating a principle or application of it.
The premise of the series necessitated that it be written when it was, but I can't help but feel that period came too early in his career. If he'd begun the series now, it would likely have taken on a lot more of the polish and initiatory tone of Alan Moore's Promethea. The Invisibles is very raw and experimental. The creative process that Morrison used to build it had never been attempted in the comic book medium before, and only vaguely by the likes of Burroughs, Wilson, and Crowley in prose, which accounts for most of the shortcomings.
This video is basically him giving a lecture on a kind of distilled version of his worldview, but most of it applies directly to The Invisibles in a way that really clarifies the authorial intent.

If you were of date-able age it's fairly easy to pick them apart. Northstar wouldn't even look at you and Nightwing would be the equivalent of your sex buddy. ...but I thought she was of date-able age. And I say this in the least ***** way possible. ...if the Skizzmom doesn't get me, I'm sure the cops will. gonk

This video is basically him giving a lecture on a kind of distilled version of his worldview, but most of it applies directly to The Invisibles in a way that really clarifies the authorial intent. To me it's something I've seen before (in various media, though mostly novel form, which unfortunately I probably wouldn't be able to recall to list right now, given today has already been incredibly stressful without having to worry about trivial things), rehashed with superheroes and different types of shock value for changing generations. Because of that, the depth level (which I consider not only what is put into the media in question, but what is beyond that, and the thoughts that run it as perceived from only the media instead of author's notes and inclusions, as I feel it should already be present enough as-is, otherwise, it's not part of the media) is perceived differently by me because of the mesh of my own personal experiences and exposures, combined with with the way I work, and the way I see things. Not to mention, like all writers whether professional or amateur, I've got my own way of seeing a story to and then beyond it's entertainment value. Because the creator intended it doesn't mean I follow the exact same thinking - blindly, educated, or otherwise.
It's no big - like I said, I'm not saying anyone is wrong. If media was meant to be seen the same way by everyone, where would the fun be? Essentially what I mean is that carrying this conversation past stating opinions won't really have a purpose, as I'm not trying to argue with anyone, or claim my perception is the only possible thing out there, and repeating myself when I say "it's about how I see it" will eventually get stale. There was never any offense meant to you or any other big fan. =P

Augh. It hurts to sit, stand, and lay down. Someone come hang out with me - it's hard to stay entertained when you can't do anything without feeling all ouchy D:
I think I shall declare the next several days "Ashley's No-Stress Time!", and carefully avoid any conversations or people that will make me want to throw things. ... Which means I probably shouldn't leave the house gonk Haaaate small towns...

LunaInverse Joasis LunaInverse Now, children, Auntie Luna is going off to Connecticon tomorrow. I expect you all to be on your best behavior. And, if you're not on your best behavior...I want pics... wink But Auntie Luna, if you're away, who's going to keep the Gator under my bed away while I sleep? sad Sometimes the Gator just needs to play a little... twisted You'll survive...mostly. Just make sure Zely has a clone handy in case things get messy. Clone? Why would Zely need to make clones? I'm a very crafty and survivable person. I haven't been killed before have I? I AM THE ORIGINAL, RIGHT?!!! D:

Monty Oum stuff is fun. I should go looking for the HQ of the second Dead Fantasy. I do wonder where he's going though... he has plenty more FF girls to add but is quickly running out of DoA ones that would have the same impact. Now, if he extended the dead part to all fighting games...

Then I shuffle around which one has the mind, just for the hell of it. If you're confident, though, press this button. It's a short-range clone exploder. If you are the original, you'll be fine. If not, I've got spares. twisted
