I'm not sure what happened. I work on-campus so it has to be approved by financial aid. So despite the fact that my employer loves me and I really need the money, the FA office will occasionally go "OH. Well. We don't want to pay you anymore."
I e-mailed them about it, but... by the time I get back to school, there'll be no way to get a job in town, and there's no way in hell I can afford to eat next year without employment gonk

Does FA have a justifiable reason to essentially stop giving you money? That just doesn't make sense to me if they don't. Isn't it their job to help students out? confused

Our car's really in bad internal shape now and she desperately needs a new one so she's been saving her money.
My college is kind of like... "Okay, you can never get a higher amount of loans and aid. If you get anything more, we don't take your explanations. We cut something"

I could never get financial aid for college despite the fact that my family's income is kind of low-middle (for California, anyway) because my dad does a lot of special but required fire-fighting work. It makes it so that his income would dramatically jump for a month or two (depending on how long he's on fires) and we suddenly would not qualify for financial aid even though our overall income did not dramatically increase, and even though we still needed it. Of course the financial aid system would refuse to take that into consideration, just like with your mom saving for a big thing like a car. No excuses, you've got more money so we won't give you any anymore. Blaaah...the system sucks.
