Great Tattooist Oni Gosh, the idea of making NYCC '09 an AG meet up is fairly fantabulous, but I'm pretty sure that I'm still paying off SDCC '06 in credit card debt. sweatdrop .. eek I say we do it. East coast needs lovin' too. talk2hand

Rae x Rae Skizzors Aww, Famine sounds like it was a lot of fun. *kicks at east coast* emo If there's any way to save money, you can really cheapen up a trip from coast to coast depending on how you travel and if you can manage to find places to stay with friends.
You might be able to come sometime surprised Luna and I might be able to go next year.

teh CB Maybe me and modsister will save up to go to a California convention next summer. We'll see. :] Things are much better on my end. The wake was today and my mom and sister went for me. I've had so many emotional phone calls and conversations since Monday and it's been really exhausting. But things are finally calming down, it seems. The funeral is tomorrow morning, and then we'll all.. well.. move on. If any of you know my modsister (Have Your Pi), give her lots of internet huggings. Plz. Its nice to know that you're doing better on this one. It always feels strange when someone you went to school with passes away, mainly because you generally think "They're my age! That's not nearly old enough to die!", and it becomes kinda hard to wrap your mind around.

Either AB or Otacon are far more to my liking, and much more managable on the wallet. If Connecticon manages to weather this year's troubles and get larger, maybe a CTcon meet wouldn't be out of the question.

There's a nice big pile of released information over on dnd4.com that includes the basic rundowns on the races and classes, including a very basic rundown of character creation. Me, I have the books coming. I didn't like 3e or 3.5, but 4 looks like it could be great fun.

Streamjumper There's a nice big pile of released information over on dnd4.com that includes the basic rundowns on the races and classes, including a very basic rundown of character creation. Me, I have the books coming. I didn't like 3e or 3.5, but 4 looks like it could be great fun. Some of this stuff is just so different from 3.x, which I love other than some minor annoyance flaws (skill points to name one). I don't know that I can get behind the new stuff, especially since Bard, Druid, and Monk are not 'core' right now. Sorceror is neat, but I can understand them getting the axe. I also don't get making Tieflings and Dragon Born core rules. Yeah, they're neat and all, but what about the Assimar? Hell, while it was the most worthless race in 3.5, what about Half-Orc? But to counter argue myself, there are some nice improvements. Skill points just got to be easy mode, even if they do make it hard to customize a character through skill points with the new system, it looks like it's a far cry easier to level up now. Also, Warlock as a replacement for Sorceror is a nice little trade off, but I'm not entirely familiar with how they work now. If they worked in the exact same horribly breakable fashion as last time, I might have a problem with it. *goes to look it up on dnd4.com* ... What the, it's kind of like they mashed Hexblade and Warlock together. While this isn't bad, it's certainly odd... RIGHT, I am so going to try to playtest this stuff with my friend tomorrow and maybe saturday. I'll post on how it goes for you Stream.

I'm lucky that Comic-con fits in so well with a time that a I can't have a job, since I'd need either a car or the extra thousands to stay in a dorm year-round to make that work.

I know what you mean about NY. Someone was trying to get me to go to a con there and the hotels were just insane - the con listed places 2 miles away from site at $500/night, that was the best they were going to do. When we did AXNY, we managed to get hotel prices down within at least SDCC range but it was still major hurt. I think of all the cons you suggested, CT actually seems the most palatable to me. A friend of mine has been trying to get me to come to AWA and I've always been curious about D*C. There's always Katsu too... especially because Diffy wants to go sightseeing in that area. While it's not exactly East Coast, I would love to return to ACen some time, despite the troubles they had this year. Of course, I spent enough on in-state con travel as it is these days. sweatdrop

NYCC is totally doable for me cuz we just drive in, and only go Saturday.. sweatdrop
Otakon 2004 drove me INSANE. gonk omg. I didn't get into practically anything. Sooo many people.. and it's unbelievably hot, too! x_x;;
Katsucon is one of my "given" cons that I will go to more likely than not. 3nodding
...
You know.. as long as there's enough notice, I can probably get to generally any east coast con. XP And AG is more than enough reason to try out new ones.
