You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Perrault was slightly afraid.

"How come we're not being incinerated by the storm?" he asked nervously, "And how could we have gotten here, of all places?"

-----

Raedou looked beyond the road ahead from behind his metal visor.

"The trip there will be short, I imagine." he said, piercing the silence again, "If we keep up this pace, I presume we will arrive at Eopia before daybreak."

At this point, the Ganzi was just trying to make conversation. He was just as tired and shocked as the other caravaneers, but hid it behind his mask. He, too, thought that little Perrault was gone.

He whistled gently to Ackune and the beast slowed her pace ever so slightly.

The princess said nothing, for she had nothing to say.

---

Farfarello, who was trying to sleep and shake off the fact that he was just assaulted, grumbled.

The entire caravan was dead silent. The only noise was coming from a complaining Ackune, who was very hungry and thirsty.

-----

Tida sneezed. She wanted attention, and honestly had no idea what was going on.

Farfarello, bored and willing to risk it, stuck his head out of the newly made hole. "Tell me Raedou, where do you think killers go?"

Raedou sighed.

"What do you mean, bean sprout...?" he mumbled, keeping his crystal blue eyes on the road ahead.

"Where do you think they go? When they die." Farfarello clarified. "Please Raedou; this is very important." He sounded like it was very unimportant.

"Ganzian religion says that sinners of any kind get reincarnated as lesser things, such as rocks and dirt." he said, "I, on the other hand, believe that all beings simply cease to exist, becoming nothing. No afterlife whatsoever. It matters not what sins they committed; murderers and saints, their fates are all the same."

He turned his head to face the demon. Anyone looking closely would see a pair of fiery eyes behind his visor.

"There is no God." he bluntly scowled, "There is no deity, there is no afterlife, and there is certainly no such thing as miracles."

He then turned his attention back to the road.

"To let you in on a little secret," Farfarello half-whispered, "it does matter."

"Leave me alone, bean sprout." the Ganzi snarled quietly, "Go take a nap or something."

This little conversation had unlocked some painful memories that Raedou preferred to keep locked up. He let out a deep sigh and whistled to Ackune, and the bison picked up the pace, still groaning about how hungry she was.

Jaeto examined this exchange with interest. Either, he wasn't understanding something, or there was some type of connection here, that he simply did not grasp the meaning of. His old friend, Raedou, appeared to be quite close to this black-skinned (possibly charred; Jaeto was dubious to touch and see) demon, the origin of whom Jaeto was still unsure of.

Myrrelda stepped back abruptly and walked across the platform, to the other side. Most likely to get farther away from Perrault.

"I haven't a clue," was the soft reply.

After a half-moment of silence Farfarello spoke again, "So how's your brother?"

Raedou ignored the demon's despicable remark, and the caravan suddenly came to a grinding halt.

"We'd best prepare a meal." he said calmly, "We wouldn't want our royal guest to go hungry."

He then grabbed Farfarello by the horns and threw him out of the caravan.

"You will search for food, bean sprout." he said, "We'll wait here for your... safe... arrival while I tend to the caravan's missing wheel."

"Touchy subject," Farfarello mumbled. "Don't see me flaring up every time someone mentions MY brother..."
He turned on his heels and suddenly stopped, "Wait, Perrault has food-" and then he remembered. The elf was dead.
Farfarello did not feel the least amount of sorrow for the person who had been so good to him, except to mourn that now he had to forage for food and deal with angry Raedou himself. This was not out of malice or uncaring, but that the demon had deduced that Perrault was a good person and was in a place he could never hope to be.
Truth be told, the demon was quite jealous.
He entered the woods.

Jaeto glanced around, observing their surroundings. Although none of them knew, if one were to glance at the world map, there would only be three mountains standing by themselves, alone. The caravan had stopped approximately eleven miles east of the south-most lone mountain, on a small peninsula known as Eyles a Fermanidos, or, The Blood Rock. One might wonder why this was so.

Jaeto climbed out of the caravan gently and rubbed his back gingerly. Then he extended a hand to help the princess down.

((I'm making this up. If Kaye has a better plan, by all means, tell me.))
