Ashram McDuck Technologist Tony Stark Ashram McDuck Fine line between Pride and Foolish Pride. Either way, Pride only takes you so far and Foolish Pride just takes. (and neither tend to give anything back) There's no pride here, son. Just a love that won't die until I do. So, "I can do it all myself" =/= Pride anymore ... right. You seem to be discounting that while he wants to do the heavy lifting himself, he is quite open to both advice and encouragement. A desire to do something oneself can't properly be called pride when you're dismissing out of hand other factors. Maybe he sees it as personal responsibility, taking the reins of his own life, or just plain "manning up" and dealing with something. A devil's advocate could argue that pushing your point here in the face of a different belief system than yours could be construed as pride, but I've been dealing with some particularly odd denizens of the Commonwealth lately, and I lack the mental fortitude at the moment to do so... so it'll have to fall to someone else. Spider, I've been thinking about your situation, and if anything makes it through the mental haze I'm enduring, I'll send it your way.

Considering you hang out here, and the normal madness of the AG, I'm almost worried exactly what classifies as particularly odd. XD

You seem to be discounting that while he wants to do the heavy lifting himself, he is quite open to both advice and encouragement. Nope, you're just reading too much between the lines. You're also assuming that I'm painting Pride in a dirty color simply because I pointed out one of it's inherent drawbacks. Note the use of the term "fine line" in separating Pride (which includes self-esteem and self-respect, the usually good parts of Pride) from Foolish Pride. Spider saying, "there's no pride here" after just saying, "(your idea) goes against all I stand for, not to do it myself" (Pride as self-confidence/self-esteem/etc. that easily goes down the road of that fine line I mentioned, hence the caution) ... there is Pride present, and at the moment, it's not really the "bad" kind. The "all" in my response is misleading, I guess. Quote: A desire to do something oneself can't properly be called pride when you're dismissing out of hand other factors. Maybe he sees it as personal responsibility, taking the reins of his own life, or just plain "manning up" and dealing with something. Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiich is a form of Pride. Not the negative kind.

However there isn't a point to push because the specifics of the situation haven't even been elucidated upon. She's hurting and faith won't stop that. Reason will.

Technologist Tony Stark I never said I could do it all myself. What I said is that I'm going to have to be stronger. Laying this on someone else to do would be sheer cowardice. Not suggesting laying it on someone else; suggesting laying it down in front of a superior being. Completely different, and not cowardly. At all. Quote: She's hurting and faith won't stop that. Reason will. Neither will, you mean. She will have to make effort to stop the hurt and it is ultimately up to her. Whether she chooses to try faith or reason (or something else) is up to her and no one else. Reason does not stop hurt. It may help stop it, but it can do nothing on its own. Same with faith.

Kin looks asian in those though. heart wink Damn right. I'd hit it. Lesbian porn in my AG? Oh hell yes. Does it count if one of the lesbians is a man? I haven't been able to figure that one out yet... [/break from serious discussion]

When you're looking for something with an autograph, and it mentions pre-print, what does that mean? Is that a reproduction of the original or..? Usually if the signature is a copy, it'll say reproduction, reprint..or something like that but..pre-print? gonk
