I woke up and came downstairs, and my dad was already up playing XBOX. I asked him when he got up. Apparently.. he never went to sleep.

surprised I remember when I was a kid, my dad would always get my siblings and I video games for our birthdays and Christmas (for the Atari, Nintendo, etc etc). But when we unwrapped our presents, they weren't shrink wrapped. When we asked our dad about it, he said he opened them to make sure everything was there.
And then we found out the truth.
My dad was buying the games a few months early, and after we had gone to bed, he would go and play the games, getting good enough to beat us for a long time, because he knew that as soon as we got a new game, we'd be playing it all the time, and he just wanted to make sure he could keep beating us at the games until the next new game came out.
