Funkmaster Biscuit Hinote Tosatsu Gaaah... My avatar is just making me wish I actually had cool floating screens now... If those existed, and I could get my hands on them, I'd definitely have them floating around constantly. About the same number as on my avatar actually. Seems a good number. My favorite representation of future technology has to be somewhere between awesome floating screens, and the Jarvis interface in the Ironman movies. Referring to the part where he directly interacts with the holographic images to do stuff. It'd take masturbation to a whole new level. Not the best use for floating screens that are easily visible from any angle.

Edit: And I wanna know the person who sees a dude jacking it and they first thing they notice is what is on the dude's floating screens.

I highly doubt the premise that masturbation to three dimensional holograms will be acceptable if "everyone" does it, disregarding how on earth you would conduct an appropriate, accurate census to discover this information. It would not be something you notice, so much as something you couldn't help but see. In any case, this isn't exactly an appropriate lengthy discussion for a public chatroom. Shall we change topics? Floors open, everyone.

I'm rather proud of the fact that for the last several years I've been in this guild, we've managed to keep that particular subject matter out of our chatrooms. It may pervade other guilds, but it has no place here. So please, don't bring it up again.

TheAppleStar I rather enjoy this topic though Greg~ Some topics are not encouraged, and a few more are flat out not tolerated, in our chatrooms, this being one of them. If you ever see conversations similar to this one in our chatroom again, you can also expect to see me putting an end to it.

New topic then. I'd totally use those floating screens the way I use tabs on the computer I have now. Each screen holds a different program I'm working on or web page I need to reference. And, of course, they would all be linked together so I can throw stuff from one screen to the other. It'd make working on stuff so much faster. Better even than the dual screens I had going on with my laptop. (Totally going to get the equipment to set up a second screen again once I have the money for it.)
I think I'll make my favorite future computer a mix of the two. Floating interactive holographic screens.

I'd say we're getting pretty close to your dream of floating screens Hinote. xD Although if they aren't holographic, how would we make them float? ( We're also on our way to this since we have the holographic keyboards. )

Hovercraft. Obviously.
I dunno that I'd want a purely holographic keyboard. I like the feel of the key going down under my hand. Or at least impacting something solid. So, when they come out with Solid Light holographic keyboards, let me know. That's also the point where we'd most likely start seeing holographic screens too.
I don't care for the glass pane computer idea. For one it's just a version of a tablet, but mainly because, well, it's a sheet of glass. I'd be worried about breaking it constantly. As for the current tablets, they are pretty cool, and fun for a lot of stuff, but are still fairly limited. And they don't float.

Its not like it's made with crappy glass, and I doubt you're putting this in a situation where it could break. If it's in front of a window inside the home and the window has yet to be broken, I think it's safe to say it'll last. And in the end a touch holographic screen would have to have its roots in tablet touch technology. So you can thank them in the future for floating screens.

That is certainly not the first thing I thought of when I heard glass pane computer. o.o
I would love to have something like that actually. Sadly, it'd be useless at my house, as I live in a basement. Admittedly I COULD just hang it on a wall instead, but that just wouldn't be the same, now would it?
And just imagine if the neighbor kids were playing baseball and... yeah...

Mhm, my roommate showed them to me a few months ago and I was pretty impressed.
Something to look forward to in the future. To be honest, I'd probably love being in a basement living environment. I tend to get more done when I can't physically tell what time it is.
And typically the kitchen window faces your backyard. So unless you allow the neighbors to play baseball facing your window, I doubt it's an issue.

What if your own kids are playing baseball? What then? Or, of course, you have brats in the neighborhood who enjoy smashing windows.
Basements actually aren't that great for living in. Not this one at any rate. I've had a chronic cough for the last several years due to the air quality... It's actually generally more of a pain than anything else. If I could move out, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Sadly, trying to move anywhere with no job, no money, no ID, and no vehicle, isn't such a great plan.

I think by the time either of us have kids, the problem won't exist.
Yeah, but you could always solve that problem with an air purifier as well as regularly changing vent filters (which is recommended throughout the house like four times a year anyway.). However, you can always get an ID at the DMV. It doesn't cost over $20 and then you'd be on your way to most other things on that list.

I've been thinking about making a sage mode for the bird summon, but it may be overpowered in my opinion.
