Don't be so sure of yourself, Kasiya thought, her fists clenched tightly. The trainer recalled his fallen Dodrio, and switched the Great Balls in his hand. His sneer had melted into a fierce scowl, and he seemed to shake with rage as the ball left his hand.

A Pokemon that Kasiya had never seen before materialized in front of her, and she had to supress a gasp. It was red, and resembled what appeared to be a giant crayfish. Kasiya took out her PokeDex and held it out.

"Crawdaunt, the Rogue Pokemon. No further information available."

"No information?" Kasiya questioned, snapping the machine shut and stepping back.

"Of course there'd be no information on him," the trainer laughed. "This one's a Hoenn Pokemon. And he's going to have a blast tearing through your overgrown puppy dog." He laughed, and pointed at Growly. "Let's go, Crawdaunt! Bubblebeam!"

Crawdaunt stepped forward and released a stream of bubbles at Growly. They hit their target, and the Arcanine winced at the water attack.

What do I do? It's obviously a water type... Kasiya's mind raced, her heart doing the same. "Growly! Use Take Down" Kasiya cried. Growly did his best to shrug off the effects of the Bubblebeam, and dashed in for the attack. It struck home, but didn't seem to be as effective as Kasiya hoped. Crawdaunt swung its massive claw around and crashed it into the side of Growly's body, a critical Crabhammer hit. Growly yelped in pain and jumped back, visibly shaken.

"Hang in there, Growly!" Kasiya begged. "Try a Bite attack!" The Arcanine pawed the ground, and ran in for the attack again. His teeth sunk into one of the arms of the Crawdaunt, but it seemed to be uneffective. Crawdaunt roared, and once again swung his mighty claw, only narrowly missing the already hurting Growly. The Arcanine came padding back over to Kasiya, his tail and ears drooping. He looked like he was in a lot of pain.

"Okay, that's it!" Kasiya called. "I yield! You win! Please....no more," she said, admitting defeat.

"That's not the way I play things," the boy sneered. "Crawdaunt, finish him off with another Crabhammer!"

Growly's ears perked up as the attack was launched, but reacted much too late. The attack hit him hard, and he collapsed, not having the energy to even stand. Kasiya screamed and recalled him into his Pokeball before further harm could be inflicted on him. "What's the big idea?" she shouted. "I said you won, there was no need for you to keep attacking!" she took a step forward. This time, it was her turn to shake with rage.

"Only cowards retreat," he said, coming forward. "Excellent work, Crawdaunt." He recalled the giant crayfish, and faced Kasiya. "Now, I believe you owe me some money."

Kasiya growled, and gave him the meanest look she could muster as she dug through her pockets and produced $7,150. She then hung her head, forcing back her tears. She couldn't believe she'd lost the battle.

"That's it?" the trainer sneered. "And I thought the daughter of a Gym Leader would be loaded. Ah well. The spoils of this battle are nearly as disappointing as the battle itself." He laughed, and walked towards the elevator, and was gone.

Kasiya hung her head, still refusing to let her tears slip, and ran towards the stairs. She jumped down them, two at a time, until she was out of the Department Store and running down the street as fast as she could. She didn't slow her pace until she reached the Pokemon Center, and she stopped for a few moments, huffing and puffing. She suddenly wanted to be home in her own bed more than anything in the entire world. She slipped through the doors, and was amazed to see Nurse Joy was still awake, and busy shuffling through some papers on her desk.

"You're out late, aren't you?" she asked, not looking up.

"Yeah, I wasn't sleepy," she said, then sighed. "I was challenged to a battle on the rooftop of the Department Store," she added a few seconds later. "I lost...pretty badly. Fang, Growly and Flash need treatment. It was a terrible battle. I just couldn't do anything right that time."

Joy smiled, and took her Pokemon. "These things happen, and not every battle will go as you planned it. Maybe you should take a break from battling for a few days. Sometimes a tough loss sets you back, but don't dwell on it forever." She disappeared into the backroom for a few minutes, and Kasiya pondered her words.

"Maybe..." she said, and sat down to wait.

She was staring out the window when Joy came back out, and handed her the Pokeballs. Shocker also was with her, and Kasiya took the Pikachu in her arms. "Is she going to be okay?"

"Yes," Joy smiled. "She wanted to see you when she heard your voice, and I figured she'd rest better with you anyways."

Kasiya nodded. "She will. I'm going home, and we'll rest up for a few days before we come back." Kasiya gathered up her things, and made sure Shocker was recalled into her Pokeball. She stepped outside and set up her Acro Bike, and started to ride in the direction of Vermilion City.

((I feel so.. left out. I need to come on more often..))

Ryka's heart raced as the ran after Kassie. When she finally caught up to the speeding bike, she slowed up. "I'm sorry. But it's like what Nurse Joy said, you can't win every battle." Ryka said, as the city of Vermilion came into view.

(( Ah! Seth's alone now. ><;; ))

Startled by the noise of a Pokemon battle Seth jolted awake. His eyes fluttered and focused on the Department Store. Kasiya was battling a boy up on it's roof. She seemed to be loosing, and badly. A few moments later she burst out of the building into the Pokemon Center and then out on her bike towards Vermillion City.

A few minutes later after Seth concluded the battles events a boy strolled out of th store a smug grin on his face. This must be the boy Kasiya battled. He beat her, he'll be a nice challange. Seth smirked, a cocky smile at that.

Seth dashed over to the boy, "I see you beat my friend." The boy blinked. "You mean Surge's daughter? Ha! She was too easy. Now get out of my way I'm off to beat her father."

"Really? You seem pretty confident."

"Yes, her money wasn't even worth that battle."

"How about I battle you? If I win I get her money, if you win you get mines."

"More cash? Deal." The boy smirked and let loose his first Pokemon, a Dodrio.

"That's it? Fine, let's go Charcoal!" The Pokemon came out with a burst of colors ready to fight.

Seth wasted no time. "Charcoal Metal Claw!" Seth directed. The Pokemon rushed at the flightless bird, it's claw glowing a metallic silver. The Dodrio side stepped quickly without instruction and landed a Peck attack at Charcoal's head. The orange Pokemon took a hit.

Great, a speedy little demon. His thought was a sarcastic as anyone could get. "Charcoal Ember!" Seth instructed as it let loose some small flames at the speedy three-headed bird.

"Too easy! Dodge, then another Peck!" The boy called. Seth smirked as the Dodrio side stepped again and charged at the Charmeleon. "Metal Claw Charcoal!" Seth called as the Dodrio ran closer it's three heads were swiped with a metallic flash.

"No more toying around. Tri-Attack Dodrio!" The boy instructed, a brutal force layed behind his voice. The attack flew in Charcoal's direction as the yellow, blue, and red beam flew towards it. "Smoke Screen!" Seth directed, his voice almost frantic.

With the help of the smoke Charcaol managed to dodge most of the attack, but still was severly injured. "Ember!" The Dodrio, confused with the smoke, was hit was the weak flames. "Tri-Attack in all directions!" The boy exclaimed, rather annoyed with Seth's ploy to gain more time.

Charcoal was hit and fainted as the smoke cleared away. "Nice job Charcoal." Seth said as he withdrew his Pokemon. "Come on out Aura!" The Espeon gracefully came out of it's Pokeball. It gave a cry, ready for battle. I won't underestimate him again.

((Aire did you take away Kasiya's money loss on her profile already?))

"Espeon! Swift!" Seth commanded in a loud voice. The Pokemon sprayed the golden star beams at the three headed bird hitting it with a critical hit. "Counter that with a Tri-Attack!" The boy commanded hitting Seth's Espeon hard with the attack. Seth gritted his teeth as Aura took the hit. Static crackled through it's short lavander fur. Aura was paryalzed. "Hah! This battle is mine!" The boy said, confidence rippling through his voice.

Anger fuels his attacks, and so does getting an advantage and a hit. Seth thought trying to find a weakness. "Dodrio Peck!" The boy shouted as the bird rused forwards and knocked out Aura, who couldn't defend herself because of the paralysis. Seth recalled his now fainted Espeon.

"Hah! At this rate I'll win!" The boy shouted. I need to find a weakness. "Let's go Serenade!" Seth shouted as he sent a ball rippling through the sky. An enormous Pokemon poped out ready for battle.

Kael grinned as he put his Pokemon back in their Pokeballs.
"Nice and dry."
He rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
"Now to head for Mauville."
He pulled out his bike and mounted it, pedalling quickly. After several minutes he pulled out his Pokenav glancing at the map.
"Looks like I'm approaching the river that separates this route from Mauville."
He looked up slamming on his brakes as he a flash of light erupted into his vision. He groaned, as the light cleared he saw a silvery blue Pokemon darting into the sky.
"What was that?"
He shrugged.
"Am I losing it?"
He collapsed his bike and placed it in his backpack. He walked a little to the right, seeing a row of boulders leading to the other side of the river.
"Perfect"
He leapt onto one. Keeping his balance he jumped from rock to rock. After reaching the other side he jogged the remaining several hundred meters to Mauville. He paused throwing Munchlax's Pokeball into the air. It burst out and ran ahead of Kael staring into the window of the Game Corner.
"You in the mood to gamble a bit?"
Munchlax grinned and nodded, entering the building.

(( You'd have to have a coin case, and buy one if you don't have one. x3 ))

"Tackle Serenade!" Seth shouted desperate to remain calm. The Dodrio attempted to dodge the attck, but was not quick enough to dodge the Pokemon's enormous size. The Dodrio fainted, collapsing in a heap on the ground. Serenade's size is, for once, useful. Seth thought, the humor escaped his lips, which curled into a smile.

The boy remained calm, keeping his cool demeanor. "Go Machoke!" He said as he threw his second Pokeball into the sky. The medium size Fighting Pokemon erupted from the Pokeball. It flexed it's muscles, obviously trying to look intimaditing. And he was Seth admitted to himself. Serenade has two severe disadvantages here. How am I going to wi- . . . NO! I will not doubt myself or my Pokemon! We will win!

"Tackle Serenade!" Seth commanded. The large Pokemon rushed forwards again only to be thrown back with a perfectly timed Counter attack. Serenade took three times the damage amount because of it's Fighting type disadvantage.

"Rest Serenade!" Seth shouted, hoping that it would recover from the attack. "Karate Chop!" Countered the boy. Machoke ran towards the sleeping Snorlax and hit it with various Karate Chops making Serenade's Rest attck useles. "Snore Serenade!" Seth called out once more. Trying to drive away the Machoke who was steadly cutting it's health away Serenade snored in it's sleep.

Unforutnatly the attack merely made Machoke cover it's ears. The Pokemon continued to chops away Serenade's health until it was no more. "Return Serenade!" said Seth, as the flash of red light vanished into the Pokeball. Seth stared at his last Pokeball. I know you won't let me down Aero. With that thought he threw the Pokeball releasing his last Pokemon.

((yep yep))
"I have too have a coin case? And they're how much?!"
"Three thousand pokedollars." the man said from behind the counter.
"We might come back later..."
Kael and Munchlax stepped outside.
"Maybe we should get a bit more money until we start gambling."
He sweat dropped.
"I suppose we should stay here for a while. To the Pokemon Center.!"

Kasiya dismounted her bike, and hugged Ryka. "I know I won't win everytime, but I seem to be in a bit of a low right now. I'm just going home for a few days to rest up and get my head straight." She smiled at the girl. "Maybe you should head to Cerulean City and challenge Misty. I'm sure you'll have no troubles winning a Cascade Badge." She paused for a bit. "One thing I should warn you about though, Twilight won't obey your commands in battle yet. You'll have to rely on Thunder and Aura. Once you beat Misty and earn her badge, he should respect you as a trainer, at least for a while. And since we're on our way anyways, why don't you come to my house for the night? You can rest up and get a good, homecooked meal. My mom's the best cook I know." She folded up her bike and put it away. "Well, what do you say?"

Kael sighed as he put his hands behind his head.
"Is there anything else to do in this dreadful place?"
He released Chansey from its Pokeball and it began wandering from shop to shop looking at the different items for sale.
"Oh, Chansey. I have something that I thought you might enjoy." He paused removing a parcel from his backpack and opened it.
"Mom sent it for Munchlax, but he hates it. So I was wondering if you'd want it."
Pulling off the plastic, he showed Chansey a Pokemon sized red and silver kimono.
"I thought you might wear it for the first part of the Verdanturf contest. You do the beauty, while Munchlax does the battling."
Chansey leapt in joy. SHe hugged Kale's leg putting on the kimono.
"Chansey, chans." "You look adorable Chansey."
She grinned and even Munchlax complimented Chansey.
"Maybe I should get my bike tuned up..."

Ryka smiled at her new friend and hugged her back. "That sounds like a good idea. I know you've got a lot on your mind right now, but you're a great trainer. The best I've ever seen, and don't forget that." Ryka winked and gave a thumbs up. I've got a lot on my mind now, too. She thought to herself. But my needs shouldn't get in Kassie's way.. She aso thought about what Kasiya said about her Pokemon, and deciede that course of action was for the best.

"That's sure is nice of you, but I wouldn't want to be a burden." Ryka smiled as the walked into the city.

Seth's Dragonair erupted from it's Pokeball leaping into the sky. Machoke is usless if it can't reach Aero. "Alright let's start off with a Thunder Wave!" Seth directed at his Pokemon. Aero tilted his head towards the darkended sky and cry out. A flash of lighting struck the Machoke leaving it paralyzed and unable to move around quickly.

"Dragon Dance Aero! Use it several times!" Seth directed. The Machoke struggled to regain it's movement, but was unable too. The boy silently cursed under his breath as he thought of an attck that could reach the flying creature up above. A thought struck him as an imaginary light bulb above his head lit. "Flamethrower!" the boy shouted as fire burst from the Superpower Pokemon. The fire hit Aero's tail as it retreated higher up into the sky.

Aero, after recovering from the Flamerthrower, continued to use Dragon Dance. It soon finished it's fifth dance ready to launch an attack. The Pokemon tilted it's head downwards aiming it's single horn to the Machoke's chest. "Twister!" Seth called out. The Dragonair reared it's head back, surprised it's trainer didn't have it use Slam. It soon recovered from it's slight confusion and let loose several Twisters. Unable to move the Machoke took all the attacks and more as Aero released several more Twisters upon the Pokemon.

It soon fell, fainted. Seth silently cheered in his thoughts. Good, now as long as it isn't a water or ice type I have this battle won. The boy recalled his Machoke and sent another ball flying into the air. To his dismay the boy sent out his last Pokemon, a Crawdaut. Seth was familiar with this Pokemon, as it was used in his first Pokemon Contest. It was a tough Pokemon to take down. At least I still have the hight advantage . . .

"A burden? No way," Kasiya said, leading her down the dark streets. "Friends aren't burdens, and besides, I insist. The only thing is, my mom's probably asleep, so we'll have to be really quiet when we go inside."

Kasiya took in the night time sights around Vermilion, thinking about how much more peaceful it was than Celadon. She breathed in the salty air of the sea, happy to be home. All we need is a few days of relaxation, she thought, as she neared her home.
