Miyuki mumbled a bit as she floated between the world of waking and dreaming. She hadn't been fully asleep, so she had weird dreams of crystals, yellow ponds and little flying rocs. She opened her eyes and rubbed them.
"Time to go back?" she asked.
Lin chuckled as she handed Earendil his malek, "Wake up Miyuki, if we have time you can play with your friends."
Well she knew they would have time.

"Yes, your mother will take you to the city to play for the rest of the day," Earendil nodded, taking the flask from Lin and opening it. "If you want to, that is," he added. They weren't going to force her to go, after all.
He tipped the flask upwards and drank from it, drinking almost all of the malek before capping it again.

Miyuki nodded excitedly, "That would be fun! But what are you and Mommy going to be doing?"
She always wondered if the adults got bored watching her and the other kids, but her and ada together always seemed to have a fun time.

"Well," Earendil replied, holding his hands out as a stirrup for Lin to hop on the bird's back, "your mother has to get some things from the city to prepare for our trip, and I would like to make some preparations back at the castle."

Miyuki by this point was use to being left on her own every once in a while so she didn't mind, but she was curious. She couldn't imagine what was it that her mommy needed to get. She turned a bit (it was hard being strapped in) to look at her mommy.
"What are you going to get?"
"Just a few things here and there, some things for your lessons while we're on the ship," Lin replied, "Otherwise you're going to be quite bored. You're use to always doing things."

"You're also going to be starting new things," Earendil added, climbing up after Lin and strapping himself in. "I'm going to be doing some of your lessons as well."
He grinned at Lin. If she wanted to tell Miyuki more, he would leave it to her, but he was sure that his teasing would excite Miyuki quite a bit.

"Really!" Miyuki would have turned around completely but she was strapped in after all, "What are you going to teach me?"
She was excited at that, because it meant more time with ada, and really it had always been her mommy teaching her normally.

Earendil laughed as Aurin spoke to Skyel and the bird lurched into the air. "Blades," he grinned, ruffling her hair affectionately - a task make a bit more difficult with the wind already blowing her hair every which way.

"You're going to have to tie up your hair for that...." Lin commented realizing as the wind was blowing Miyuki's hair all over the place that Miyuki's hair had gotten long, "Unless you want it cut."
"Uh uh!" Miyuki shook her head as she shouted back to be over heard against the wind, "No hair cut!"

"Could just braid it," Earendil suggested. "It would keep it out of the way, and also make it more controllable when it flops around."
Not to mention it would be cute. But he wouldn't mention it.
"Better than a ponytail anyways," he added as an afterthought.

"I don't know how to braid my hair," Miyuki replied.
Until she became old enough her hair had never been long enough to braid in the first place.

"I can help you with that," Earendil offered as they neared the castle.
After all, his hair had once been quite long, even if it had been decades before. That, and he had a sister and two nieces. It was only natural for him to know how to braid hair - elven style, at least.

"Okay!" Miyuki nodded in agreement.
For as long as Miyuki could remember her Mommy's hair has been short, of course so was her Ada's. Though if Ada said he knew how to braid hair then he knew how to braid hair.
"Is it hard?"

Earendil grinned. "I can teach you. It's not terribly difficult to learn. It just takes a bit of getting used to."
Skyel circled the castle, bringing them back to the rookery. She perched on the platform and settled so that they could all climb down.
Earendil grinned at Lin. "Quick ride. The best kind."

Lin chuckled at that, mainly because she knew how much Earendil wasn't so fond of flying. She unstrapped herself, before going over to Miyuki.
Myuki on her part sat still like she knew she was probably supposed to (it was a long way down after all). Waiting for someone to unstrap her and help her down.
