Chrysant SoundBlast Chrysant Chocolate skittles must taste like death... confused A very colorfull and semi-sweet death. Welcome back Chrysant, how have you been? smile So so. Uni work's been hectic and my girlfriend is being mighty annoying alot of the time, but ah well. Soon to finish uni work and then a nice long summer break to look forward to. biggrin How's things with you, SB? A summer break's always nice, wish I had something like that. But since I work fulltime now I hardly have the time to go on a major vacation, though I sometimes wish I did. gonk Other then that I can't really complain about anything, the pay's good and I work with a lot of cool people (And the coffee is good). Hopefully you'll be getting better weather then we have in Holland during the time. 3nodding In a few months together with my work I'm going back to school so I can study for a better position at my work, even though I don't have any complaints I have the feeling I can do much more then I can currently do. I'll see how things go from there. smile

hilaroma Ashram McDuck Streamjumper Ashram McDuck So ... haven't told a lot of people this ... but I'm in the midst of making a decision concerning where I'm going with life after my current contract ends. After looking over the course of the last few years of my life, I am faced with many options, many directions to go ... but the three that stand at the top are as follows: 1. A position in publishing &/or editting 2. Professorship 3. A position in animation/comic distribution &/or critiquing/reviewing Currently, I am in the middle of writing a Cover Letter that I plan on sending to various companies. If I can get my hands on the names of the presidents/vice presidents of various companies, I plan on sending, snail-mail style, my credentials. The tricky part is wording myself in a way to show most of these companies that, while they don't have any positions available for me to see, that is not going to detour me. So when is your contract up? Beginning of July. 3nodding No more Nipponz? sad At this current point in time, yes.

iBarty So...we're supposed to be getting that foot of snow today. My mom doesn't think it'll happen, but who knows. I mean, there was a year when we had a really bad ice storm in April and the power was out for days. It's possible, so I guess we'll see. I kind of hope it does because then the buses will stop running and I won't have to go to work. But, on the other hand..if it does snow and it isn't a lot I'll have to go. I'm just..dreading next week. I don't have one day off unless you count the Sunday coming up. The week after though, I only have like 12 hours. It sucks, but the 31 hour work week makes up for that I suppose. But still, why can't she just schedule me more eight hours instead of spreading it out to four or more every day. I'm really getting pissed off with the closing shifts too. I'm getting sick of it all. I want to quit, but I can't... The unemployment rate is really high right now because of all the businesses closing in the area ******** to bed now. I'm still keeping watch out for other jobs but..no one is really hiring here. My mom says to wait another month or so and they probably will. Take a look at temp agencies. Not only do a lot of them have part time but regularly scheduled positions as well as full time ones, but some companies just flat out pay temp agencies to handle their hiring for them. Also, you'll have the chance to try out a few different types of job and build experience/find out what you really want to do/try new things. And even if you just get stuck in some temporary light industrial job, you'll at least be building a good job work history and pulling in better money than you are right now. 35-40 hours a week of 9-10$ an hour has gotta be better than what you're getting now.

Try being Starbucks Manager. domokun gonk Crazy? You should hear some of the calls that come into the front desk at a Regional office for the Department of Public Heath servicing the Western Half of Massachusetts. The pace is slower, but it totally recalibrated my weirdness scale... and I thought I had seen it all after my days working at Hollywood Video (you would not believe how ******** up people get when dealing with their entertainment... especially when it comes to handling their excessive late fees or when they can't get the particular movie they want). The conspiracy nuts make for some interesting conversations while I try to get them to let me know what division or bureau I need to patch them through to. On the bright side, it is amusing enough not to get boring, and the benefits I'll be getting now that I'm officially hired will be damn good. That's right, bitches; Teh Gator is now a Massachusetts state Bureaucrat.

So, I'm driving home from work this morning, and my Check Engine light comes on. I calll Stream, and he tells me to go to this auto parts store and have them use their diagnostic machine to see what the problem is. I get a little printout and everything. Now, to find a mechanic. The place I want to go to is booked up (they're good, that's why), so I try the Firestone that's nearby.
I hand the guy the slip, and the counter shark tells me that the slip doesn't tell them anything, that they need to run a full diagnostic and it would cost $109.
eek
WTF!? I smell a scam. So i went home because I worked all night and am very tired.
My poor car... crying
