By three days, I did mean 72 hours, and didn't intend for a lot of leniency except in no-computer vacation cases. I'm in a tournament on another forum with a strict 24-hour TKO rule, and still have managed to get my posts in even through the hubbub of school and partying.

Jello's kind of running with the show now, though, and I don't know the full stories behind things, so it's his decision on the Viper argument.

Eh... Iunno what to say.

Other than Josh would be the last person on this earth to be bias with me.

He rides me more than anyone else and has been instrumental in the finetuning of my character's abilities.

In short; he keeps me in check because I tend to have a very big imagination.

Plus, Viper was late with nearly every post... if I had been overdue the same would have happened to me.

I want to know what happened to the idea of not timing-out FFA fights because its so near the end. I don't see the point of ending a perfectly good fight that was actually entertaining to read because it has two of the only RPers I respect in this tournament participating when two fights haven't even started and mine with Fish isn't going to end anytime soon. So he's late, big whoop. Don't any of you have lives?

I work six hour shifts and take college courses, with squeezing online time at wee hours.

Yes, I have a life.

My schedule is similiar, but I don't have a life. Even I don't always get in all the posts I need to for any given day. Hell, I've even missed a deadline in here. It was a FFA deadline no less. Is my fight locked? No. The fact of the matter is this, people have lives that don't fit into an online schedule, even those people without a life.

The point of it is this; the time-out regulation gets stupid closer to the end of the brackets, especially when two fights in the bracket haven't even started. I do happen to recall mention of not starting to do time-outs until all matches had been started or no-showed. Furthermore, the 3 days thing has already been debated and shot down by a reversal of a ruling made by Jello because Gelgel went and complained his fight got locked. The turnabouts and reversals are making my head spin! I mean hell, 72 hours is all well and good, but if I'm making posts at 1am people get ******** if they need that third day. Furthermore, I personally told him it was until midnight the third day, so if anything, this is all my fault for a miscommunication of the rules.

Though Vahn I ask you this, if I went and unlocked it right now would you complain? Though you obviously wouldn't be getting a post cause he's not on. >.>

Could always do the childish thing and get into an unlocking/locking war with Jello. XDDD

To everyone really...

Omi: I didn't see you ask to lock it before, but I'll do so now. I just wanted confirmation.

Binatica: That example is moot, it was a forgivence becasue of an argument, but you've chronically either been pushing it or late with posts. The three day limit is a maximum, to make sure that you have time to post. If you can do so earlier, you should, don't wait for the third day.

Viper: I'm sorry, but I'm not making deals with these things. Work it between you and Vahn, I'll be willing to reopen if you two can agree, so long as the bracket is still going.

Tac: As for the 'I'm being very lenient in FFA', well... Vahn/Viper closed, I saw that Lyger was up to almost a week, so closed that one. Flamo is still gone, so that will close up when the bracket ends, which leaves you vs. Fish as the last fight before we close, and we can carry over Trei vs Shagrath like we did with the other brackets and do a [the winner of] so that everyone else can start doing their next round fights.

I've said that I wasn't closing things because I was being lenient. I said that I would close them if they were requested, just like I wouldn't if people had agreed for time limit extensions. However, when I close one, I usually go through and check all the others to see if any are due for closing.

Vahn Kyonuske
if I had been overdue the same would have happened to me.

To be fair, no. I've said that I was being lenient with FFA deadlines (though that gives no one an excuse to drag things out), so unless Viper had asked for it to be closed at 3 days, or unless it had been a week or so, I probably would have left it open.

I believe Viper took a week to post at one point, I left it open then.

The difference is that you asked for it to be closed if he kept posting over the limit, so it is. If he had asked, the same thing would have happened. Neither of you asked for a time extension like some other people have, either.

Mainly, it's because I was asked to (hushed voice) enforce the rules that have always been there.

Now... complaints? Real complaints, not "I waited 3 days because I knew I'd be able to squeeze one in at the last moment because I don't want to have to actually deal with this fight right now" complaints.

May I get this locked due to time-out with me winning? his last two login times were this saturday morning and sometime on the fourth. Since my post, I have not received a PM or post or anything in regards to a counter argument or anything.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 08, 2006 2:32 am

From looking at the thread it seemed to me that there was a debate in progress, which is why I left it open. Actually, it looks like he was expecting you to edit your post.

I'll send him a PM, and give... say... two days?

I'm not sure if he thinks there is an argument, or what. If he hadn't logged in in like a week I'd give it to you, seeing as he would have been AWOL anyways, but he logged in about 16 hours ago, so...

edit: *PM SENT* He has until Monday night. I'm going to bed.

Tac? Our fight is going to drag on forever? I don't think you grasp how extremely your character is overpowered in comparison to the most powerful I've ever made.

That brown staining him right now happens to be burnt-dry blood.

Besides which, I've actually been considering giving up the fight. Not because I'd rather have a good fight on closer to a fight than a mage duel going on, but rather because of issues involving this character. Right now a good friend of mine who roleplays the character married to him has gone into the hospital again, and at this point they think she's just going to skip between coma's and week concious state for the next several years. She's been too weak to come online for nearly a month now, and is far enough away that I can't go visit, so I'm kinda angsty 'bout this right now, especially as, like usual, everyone is trying to keep things from me so 'I don't have to worry about it' until I pry it out of them.

Honestly, I'm faring better than I was last time when she went into a coma and they said she had a... what was it?... 30% chance of ever coming out, and about a week later she woke up, and a week later was trying to escape the hospital.

If anyone can defy all logic and make a complete recovery from all this s**t repeatedly, it would be her, if just to b***h at everyone for thinking she would die. I'm surprised I haven't classified her as dead yet despite my chronic near-depression and pessimism, but it still eats at me playing him too much when... you know.

Anyhow, I'm babbling, so I'm gonna cut it out before some a** sees fit to flame me about this.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 08, 2006 7:38 am

If some a** did flame you for it then tell them to step the ******** down. Really, it's that simple. *Shrug.* You have your reasons, not anyone else's business to try and make something of them.

Anyway, this OOC thread has turned into a b***h-fest. Omi, I challenge you to a random s**t posting spree.

In my opinion: these people signed up knowing full-well the three-day rule ahead of time, lest they didn't read the front page of the guild, in which case, that's their own damned faults. domokun Having a "life" or not doesn't give you an excuse to not take ten damned minutes out of your supposedly hectic day to drop a post in a topic, however poor of quality.

Now, if someone has a legit excuse for having a late response, that literally could not be negotiated about - then ya know? I totally understand that. Which is why, I let Pei go on his last post infriction - because he works weekdays.

But, he went bordering nine days without a post this time; you tell me you don't have enough free time to make one damned post, however miniscule, in that time - and unless you've got a reaaaal elaborate excuse? You're full of s**t. =P

My point being: Everyone here has things they gotta do. That's life. We all exist in it. That said, I highly doubt everyone or even a majority of the people here don't have some freetime in a week - and during that time, one can easily make a post. Unless for some reason they can't access the internet, in which case, we're on a totally different subject - point is, you either make some time for this tournament, however slight, or you don't continue in it. That's also life - not everything in existance can cater to an individual. Do you honestly think a race'd be prolonged a week because one of the contestants had exams and was too tired to come by? Point is, I can't "do so earlier". Sure, after making the posts I have to make on a given day to avoid timing out, I don't make the rest of my posts. Why is that? Is it because I'm slacking off or screwing around with what little internet time I get? No, it's because I can't think and I need to go to sleep. I cut short our arguement yesterday because I was seriously afraid I would collapse on the keyboard if I didn't go to bed right that second, and that was about the usual time I manage to get a chance to post on weekdays. The number of fights has been a contributing factor to my slowness - but, as I said, several days ago I was contemplating forfeiting several fights to deal with that problem. Really, this situation right now is ideal for me - except that I wanted to pick and choose which fights ended and you ended the wrong one.

With that in mind, I'll make you a deal; unlock Rynn Draconis vs. Lunaritina, and I'll forfeit Marius Uriel vs. Gakh-Ghigh.

@Omi: I don't think anyone was even talking to you. You're the only one who's bitching about a wait time significantly longer than the stated limit and no one is arguing with you, so I'm not sure why you're arguing back.

So we have to be "arguing" now to make a point? Huh. Kewl, I'll keep that in mind.

Sounds like its up to you Vahn. I'd like to keep fighting cause it was jsut getting interesting, but its your choice.

=P One thing however, if you don't want to continue the tourny fight I call we continue it outside the official thread.

>_> When? Not arguing cause like I said its up to Vahn from here on but... From what I can see the latest I've even been was a four day on Tuesday 19 because I got sick and fell asleep the moment I got home before that.

The other two times were AM posts that simpy got kicked to the back of the cue while I posted that early in the morning.

Not making excuses or arguing but... a week's a bit over the top.
