3.14 Sigh. A friend of mine from class died last week. I didn't even know until tonight. She was on her way back from Miami and was in a car accident.
I didn't know her that well, but we often hung out after class. Damn, she sat right next to me. It's so hard to comprehend I will never see her walk into class again. She was only 19.
emo It always feels so much sadder, and much harder to get used to when it's someone young, I think. When I was fifteen, a seventeen-year old friend of mine died, and I just remember the shock because I never really had considered it could happen.
Won't tell you to cheer up, but Ily? sad heart

hilaroma LunaInverse hilaroma Ugh...I don't think I really talked about it here, but many of the residents of my apartment complex are really sketchy and scary. I've been late to or totally skipped classes (and other outings) before because they like to hang out menacingly in the walkway between my apartment and the one next door. Not only do I just not want to encounter them, but I'm afraid to. The smell of pot is always hanging around them or flowing out of their apartment, they basically look like hard core gang members, and they're always yelling obscene things at each other. Did I mention they often have their "friends" over? "Friends," meaning up to 15 more of their buddies blocking my walkway and all of the sidewalk around our building. The worst is when I have to go to school because I not only have to walk through their congregation, but it's with my bike too. I just waited over 30 minutes for them to disperse so I could go to class, then gave up. Hopefully they'll be gone soon so I can go to my next class...=/ Either I need to start getting up ******** in the morning to avoid them, or...I dunno. I wish I had a back door or something... crying Is moving a possibility for you? That sucks. When Stream and I were first looking for an apartment, we were looking for affordable, but also in a decent area. But we got lucky. My lease is up at the end of July so I can't really move until then. Although the good news is I've already found a much better place. Hiro actually used to live in the new complex I'll be moving to so I know it's safe and much more quiet than where I currently live. Seriously though, every day that goes by makes me want to leave here more. I can't wait to get out. sad Scary scary...I hope everything works out!!

Akiiiii. heart
Also. I just finished watching Big Trouble in Little China. It was on Encore. I was so entertained every time a line came up, like "with light coming out of his mouth!"
Now I'm eating brussel sprouts. WTF. Seriously.

So ... haven't told a lot of people this ... but I'm in the midst of making a decision concerning where I'm going with life after my current contract ends. After looking over the course of the last few years of my life, I am faced with many options, many directions to go ... but the three that stand at the top are as follows:
1. A position in publishing &/or editting 2. Professorship 3. A position in animation/comic distribution &/or critiquing/reviewing
Currently, I am in the middle of writing a Cover Letter that I plan on sending to various companies. If I can get my hands on the names of the presidents/vice presidents of various companies, I plan on sending, snail-mail style, my credentials. The tricky part is wording myself in a way to show most of these companies that, while they don't have any positions available for me to see, that is not going to detour me.

hilaroma Ok, trying to leave now. I hope it works out.... sweatdrop Edit: They're still out there. I think I'm gonna cry. crying Whenever I get worried about stuff like that, I always whip out my cell phone and pretend I'm talking to someone (or actually call someone.) That way, people don't try to talk to me and they know I have someone I can scream for help to.

I'm in the better area of town, but in a city that's pretty much known throughout the region for its gangs, violence and high crime rate. Since I have to do a lot of walking at night to get to the clinic for emergencies or after-hours checks on patients, I carry pepper spray and keep my cell close at hand. My mum actively encourages me to call her when ever I go out after dark I'm usually not very skittish, but it really helps when I do have call to get nervous. hila should try it, it might help. heart X3

Yay..almost done getting photos up on facebook. After resizing the first ten photos, I said ******** it and just left the rest (there's 74 I think) because I didn't want to deal with it. I'm hoping Myspace automatically resizes the pictures, and if not..well, poo because then I will have to resize the rest. gonk
