Rae: ******** him in the ear with a rusty chainsaw. He'll probably meet a bloody, toothy end sometime soon anyway.

If you know what I mean...

Soundy: To be honest, your English is pretty damn good. Occasionally you pick a word that doesn't exactly flow or have exactly the meaning you're going for, but in general you do better than a lot of native speakers in the spelling and grammar departments. That's no mean feat given that the English Language is a total linguistic mess.

So like...there were a lot of fat Sailor Scouts. There was one that fit who they were supposed to be, and there was one other that kind of did..otherwise, wow. Lotsa fat. Not that I care, because I wanted the pictures anyway of Sailor Scouts being a fan and all.. But it just made me wonder if the majority of the girl fans for it are overweight.
... confused
You can't really generalize weight in comparison with fandom.
And as someone who is both overweight, and a huge Sailor Moon fan, I keep going back and forth on whether or not this might offend me a little... sweatdrop

I'm overweight and like Sailor Moon too...so it's not like what I said I said to offend. I suppose it could. *shrug* I don't know. I'm not going to say sorry for something that made me wonder about it. I suppose the way I said it could have been worded differently though, but what's done is done.

I'll admit, I can be a mean person at times (I've laughed at a mentally ill kid before, but at the time I didn't realize it and it was mostly because of what my co-worker was doing at the time) so even if I don't mean to offend it'll come off as rude.

Not really sure what else to say about it..though I expect you'll be mad now. Which is fine, it's justified.
I'm more than capable of voicing an opinion and thinking I don't like the way something was said without being mad or expecting someone to blindly apologize to me. wink

The only time I expect apologies is when someone blatantly disrespects me, and that hasn't ever happened in the guild forums.

*huggies* Not the diaper kind. wink Haha..but yeah, I felt like I was being ew last night. So, sorry for the ew mood.

Uh yeah, so, I was just turned down for even the chance to get into a class because it's apparently an honors course (which wasn't written in the course description for the English offerings brochure). What pisses me off though is that when he wrote me off and said that he thinks it'll fill with honors students, it just sounded condescending and I really felt like he was implying I'm stupid, which I haven't felt from someone at school since my guidance counselor outright told me that I wasn't smart enough to take pre-calc (which I did great in, by the way, after I went and overrided his input with permission from the math department).

It just feels sucky, because I would be an honors student if I hadn't had to take calculus or geology because of my earlier major, and I could get pretty damn good recommendations from two of the better writing teachers in the English department.

I'm smart, and I'm a good writer, and I shouldn't have to be spoken down to by him.

Wow, turned down even the chance? He won't even consider giving you space if there's both room and you have recommendations from other Profs? That's really too bad... but did you really want to spend a semester with someone like that?
Not anymore. But I do want to somehow get in a subtle jab about how he's balding, and about how I can't respect a writing class that's more about having a 3.5 and being a fan of Neil Gaiman than actually being able to write anything decent surprised

I'm not so upset that I can't take the class because he doesn't sound like the type of person I want to associate with at all.
I'm just upset that he treated me like that (and made it so incredibly obvious), because a 3.0 that's rising isn't bad. I was recommended for the honors program by a writing teacher and am only not in it because my grade was still suffering from earlier calc and geo grades. I've been recommended to be a tutor in our writing center, and the teacher who runs the writing center is pushing me to take up the offer because I have a class with her and have been getting 90+ (and 100+ several times) on everything in her class. I was one out of 23 (out of the entire freshman class) students invited to accelerated chemistry - obviously I'm not stupid. I was at writing level 4 the second semester of my freshman year even though it's not recommended that you get there till your junior year. I was bumped up immediately after the introductory comp course- most students have to go on to writing level 3. I'm probably a better writer than a few of those kids who'll get in just because they have a 3.5,
but he's still going to talk to me like I don't even deserve the chance if there's still room and imply that I'm not intelligent enough?

@Rachel: I don't even want to bother. Someone who treats me like I don't belong there isn't someone I want to take a class with.

Ugh. He's a stupidhead.
Thanks you guys for being un-suckily-awesome heart

Just got this PM...

rother43
DJ Helsing (Gaia Developer) told me at Boston Anime con. that they
are now accepting new beta battle testers. He wrote down a link for me also it was:

gaiaonline.betabattle.com/?t=21 <--- Beta testing (Limited to 100 members approved)

He said that they are only accepting like 100 members I think. Possibly 150 members, anyways the point is they are finally accepting beta testers and they released a ring for the battle system "??? Ring" at the boston anime con. So far they do not have player versus player at the moment from what he said. I am still waiting for them to approve my application for beta battle thingy. xD I hope it is as good as they said it was... If not Ima be pissed!

I have no idea who this is, and I don't know if this is some kind of scam or something? Looking for your general input, guild. I wouldn't go to the link for safety reasons, but I'm just wondering.

Ain't no such thing as Beta Testing Battle yet. domokun Anything regarding Beta Testing will generally come from a staff member named, Loie.

Another tip: While it says Gaia Online, BetaBattle is the actual server. The name before the [dot] extension is the actual server the site is hosted on.

And DJ Helsing isn't a dev, he's Gaia's Gopher. :minininja:

Now to create a better phishing scam and Pm a complete list of people that fell for it to you. twisted
Nah, even doing it in jest is against ToS, but I have considered doing that for a while just so I could have a mod or WJ pm a whole bunch of people saying "Well now, don't you feel stupid?" I've even considered PMing them from other accounts that I've phished. rofl

I'm sorry to hear that Rave, but I think you deserve a fair chance to take that course if you're feeling up to it. I've been in thje same situation before when I was about to take English class at School. Apparently I wasn't good at the language and would fair horribly, I'm very sure four years later you guys have no clue what I'm typing since my English sucks.

I've known you for a long time Rave and I can say without a doubt that you aren't stupid, you're very mature about your life and you also look at everything from a understanding and mature perspective (which I wish some of the people from your age did). Don't let this guy get to you and do your best to prove him wrong, if anything I'm sure you can accomplish this.

Backlog just about caught up, but I had to come back to this one.

Rae: Everybody's already expressed my sentiments on this situation, but Stream's are more in line with mine than anyone else.

Wave: Wait, you're not a primary english speaker? eek *checks profile* Well... huh. xd If no body had said it, I never would have known.

It's interesting when you see something like that, isn't it? Especially if someone that speaks English as a second language, speaks it better than you. I've had that happen with me.. sweatdrop

Ha ha, I remember someone online who held a writing degree and a good GPA and what not and would try to use that fact to bully (yay logical fallacies) the rest of us into the belief that Buffy was the best writing on television. It just reminds me of that.

Yeah, there are jerks out there in all professions. Don't let one make you feel like you have to defend yourself. Just consider it training for all the other arrogant and/or insecure folks out there who will likely do it too. stressed

Lately I've been into the idea that people of strength keep their true power hidden. It helps me deal with a lot of random people who are going to treat me like I'm stupid no matter what I do. People paying attention will figure it out soon enough (as it sounds like all your other profs have.) Now the 'friends' who have to keep backhandedly putting me and my intelligence down, I haven't figured out how to handle yet. sweatdrop

Herro everyone.

Sooo, I have a few interesting courses this quarter. I'm taking Classical Chinese culture and Literature during the Tang and Ming periods, A study of Literati, Samurai and Yangban (basically a seminar studying the elites of China, Japan and Korea) and Japanese 3.

I'll probably be writing my seminar paper on why the Japanese gave up the gun after seeing how successful it was in invading Korea near the dawn of the Tokugawa period.

Other than that, I have officially decided that I no longer want to watch the news, lol. Teenagers videotaping beating a cheerleader just to get hits on Youtube, a delegate of Barack Obama's quitting after calling a few african american children (playing in a tree near her home) "Monkeys", 401 children rescued from a polygamist cult of some sort, including young teenage girls who are pregnant and/or mothers already.

*sigh* Life sucks, when's fanime going to get here?
