I'm more disheartened by the 'hey since we got the cash item out early, now we can maybe work on some other stuff!'
(Also, GI Joe movie is all on ml I read can talk about lately... it's just not the same without Chris Latta. However... that one Hasbro flash thing on their site with all the (live action) Joes in the shadows, that was -sweet-)

I mean...I like him. But...not who I would've imagined. I'll have to give him a chance, though. crying heart *gulp* Maybe he'll surprise me and be fantastic. Even though nobody can ever be Chris Latta.

[Dill] Shoujo Phoenix Eh. Gaia's too big to be brought down by raids. I doubt it'll be like the "uproar" over WTF hats...which was about nothing. Here's the thing, though. Most raids, such as the ORLY raid, were unmotivated masses. The subeta raids were not. Subeta had desecrated an icon of internet culture, for profit. Seems like a familiar situation, wouldn't you agree? Sure, Gaia's far more secure than Subeta ever was. However, I would never knock down the chan's as being powerless. If they want this raid to happen, it will. It won't bring Gaia down, but it hopefully will send a message as I said.
I think they're given a little too much credit. That and it's not a big deal. Srs business etc etc.

Personally, I'm with Shouj. I don't think it'll amount to much more than a bunch of porn and/or guro trolls or other such garbage, which is probably not going to be much more significant than the usual quota.

Personally, I'm with Shouj. I don't think it'll amount to much more than a bunch of porn and/or guro trolls or other such garbage, which is probably not going to be much more significant than the usual quota.

I've always been really iffy about any incarnation of Joe (outside of comics) since Latta's passing because the Commander is like..99% of my love. I was really pleasantly surprised by the actor they got for the recent CG animated movies, though. He stayed pretty true to the general voice without sounding too forced, like a lot of actors do when they try to get the Latta-voice going. He gave it his own touch and it really worked nicely. It still wasn't the same, but it was enjoyable. So...if one person can surprise me, I'll hold out hope for another. crying
But if they butcher CC, I'll cry. ... [/hugenerd]

I just made like...40k in under 10 seconds. gonk I literally hit submit on the vend when I got a PM saying that the item sold. I think it set a record for shortest vend - it was up all of 10 seconds. gonk Also, long hat is long? And - guys - Gaia gets raided over everything. s**t, we even raid ourselves. I doubt the admins would notice trolling attacks. sweatdrop Yep. Gaia gets raided just for being here... The 1% increase in volume is less noticable than the fact that they're using a different excuse. Also, I'd like to point out that the memes generally start other places than 4chan... often at SA, yet the 4channers are bitching that we stole their memes. Longcat might actually be the first one that started at 4chan.

I went out and bought a shitload of egg painting kits today.... because they're good for dyeing yarn. I should mail Mala all of the stickers that came in them. xd

Dr. Fomite 3nodding Yeah, they definitely had their issues, but I thought they really had a good feel for the property. I wish they'd spun their version into a full TV series. I'd have eaten that right up. I liked that it kept some of the fun of the old cartoon but threw in more of the comic-like action to keep it from being entirely campy.
I'm still way more a Sunbow cartoon fan than anything, but if ReelFX had more material going for them, I think it'd be a very close second. I tried Sigma 6, did not want. crying DD...I got pretty far along before my interest tapered. I'd still like to pick up the later volumes but the motivation isn't overly strong.

I am a Sunbow fan first, though there are elements of the comics/file cards that I do like. Every now and then I work on a somewhat flippant summary of the Marvel run. They were full of silly things for all their ability to actually kill people. Beatnik Cobra Commander! Blind Master attacking people with a ball-peen hammer! Baroness calling Zarana "Badger Barf" (well, Zarana did call Baroness a "Liberal" ...kind of amazing what the 80s were like.) I'm actually half rooting for a Sgt. Slaughter cameo in there, as much as I hated him. I have no idea what that guy looks like now. The movie already seems to have too many characters though. DD just got really soap opera-y really fast. Baroness' baby? Ugh ugh ugh. They did try to work in some references to the Sunbow series, but I think they went too angsty. Also, DD kind of felt especially anti-women. Scarlett got herself captured like 4-5 times. Jaye was killed. And, let me say it again, Baroness' baby. Ugh. I did really like the GI Joe: Declassified miniseries they put out by Hama though. I also liked some of Frontline before the killed it, especially the Beach Head issue. I want to try out some of the special missions as they look not bad. I really don't know what would sell as a GI Joe comic. I fear with the license ending this Summer and the movie on a horizon, it will be a cheap movie tie in. Maybe they'll give it a rest for another 8 years or so. (Oh, another comic I liked was the WWII GI Joe/Transformers crossover... yeah it was kind of weird having Grimlock be a WWII tank and Bumblebee a old-style motorcycle, but it was surprisingly good for its 4 issues.) Sigma 6' Cobra Commander outfit was really.... uh, yeah. It had its moments and I would probably take it over DiC, but yeah. Too bad it vaguely is the continuation of the ReelFX, what with the guantlets and what not. I do hope the movie makes someone re-release the Sunbow DVDs. I was not in a position to buy them when they came out and now they are out of print and expensive sad
