Erfaewen Utakan I play only alto sax, but I'm looking to play soprano in the next couple of years. Sad thing is, I'm the only alto sax player our band has right now, and our Tenor sax player is a senior, so he'll be gone next year. Pretty sad, but hopefully we'll get more sax players next year. Though, I kind of like being first chair by default. xp That's how it pretty much is at mu school. We have four saxes total and I'm a senior and the rest are freshman, so I was first chair by default too. Same here. y is there a sudden sortage in saxes? My bf's old band had like a million of everything b4 he left. i dont no whats still there...

Nicholai Maxwell Soprano and Bari for Jazz Band. isnt it hard to switch from soprano to bari? i went from soprano to alto for a concert/festival n i thought it was...not really hard so much as annoying...

Durza the Shade ffviiigurlrina RinoaHeartilly ffviiigurlrina I play the tenor sax in jazz band. im fairly good. if you have any questions you can pm me too. I'm supposed to play the Tenor in my jazz bad, but they ran out, now i dunno what im gonna do. sad ... anyways, i actually came into this thread because your name caught my eye... xd FF8 rox! w00+! "Oh thanks. I guess." Smiles sheeply. "Anyways so what is yall's favorite songs to play?" On the sax? Right now, whatever's easy in pep band. I can't get out the low notes, embarrasingly enough. My teacher says "drop your jaw" and I do, and nothing comes out at all. Any advice from those who actually know how to play sax? Start @ like low G and work ur way down.

No shortage for where I live. There's gonna be over 20 saxes next year when I'm a freshman in the marching band. O_o And I'll be the only one coming from my school... xd I'll be lonely with all the other freshman I don't know.

So I just started playing alto sax yesterday and I love it. I began on clarinet and oboe and a lot of the fingerings are the same so Im already playing the school band songs and having a great time. I dont know why I didnt pick it up earlier (Btw Im in 8th grade)

Homie gosh I love my saxophone (:
I named him Charlie he's my alto along with my other one named Char.
Charlie was my bang-up alto because he was used before me so I playing him mostly for rainy football games and Char is my prince and shiny and new. I love them both.
But right now I'm playing the schools tenor for symphonic and Jazz band (:
It's pretty sweet too.
It feels really weird switching from tenor back to alto though because the alto feels so small now xD. But oh well I love 'em both (:

Haha! You're not cool enough! Just kidding. In all fairness, trumpet looks pretty cool too. I just don't have the emboucher for it now. My friend who plays the flute it gonna try to play it, though. I'm excited!

I play all the saxes except contra-bass, and they are all very similar, the trumpet however, would be considered to be one of the hardest intruments to change from.
