The child nodded, she figured she had failed that move in every possible manner. This was an indicator that she needed to pay closer attention to the boy's instructions. As she thought about what to do she nodded her head, noting that she understood what he was saying. Tenma was fairly glad the only person she was really embarassing herself in front of was her sparring partner, who was obviously going easy on her.
With a slight set of absolution Tenma curled her fist and reached to hit him in the face. Maybe she should have jumped? Granted, as the Nara said, that would have left her open for a counter attack. Using her left arm she guarded herself as she made an attempt to contact.

Rhaim shook his head lightly after the girl recoiled her hand from the bottom of his jawline. Though she was significantly smaller than him she had managed to land a rather suprisingly strong blow. The young Nara boy moved his jaw around to loosen it back up while he stopped pressing forward on the girl and instead began slowly sweeping around her left. With his guard still up, "Nice shot. Ok now try for a kick. Remember to put your hip into though. And don't make contact with your toes. That will hurt."
He was quite pleased with how well the girl was doing considering their difference in skill, age and size. Perhaps this small nameless girl was more worthy of becoming a shinobi than he was. She definately was proving that she had the tenacity for it. However that would mean that shortly he'd have to bring her back to reality, just as the Uchiha had done to him.

Shoot, he wanted her to do a kick now? Had he not remembered how she had embarassed herself just a moment ago? Oh well, this time she would simply have to be sure that she didn't attempt to jump and kick him. Tenma noted his change in direction, he was moving left instead of advancing. The girl noted this atleration as she furrowed her eyebrows and brought, what was currently, the best kick she could muster up. Her aim was at his midsection again, that space between his hip and ribs. The girl noted to bring her hip, as well as using her arms to block any attack the boy might counter with.

Rhaim saw the girls kick coming rather easily as she was telegraphing her moves before she began them. Without bothering to catch her leg this time he simply side stepped the attack and lowered himself even further. Reaching out with his right hand in one quick jerk he went to swat the girl in her midsection. However he over stepped and reached further than intended, coming around behind and lower on her than expected. He was unable to pull his hand back in time before contact was made and his heart immediately stopped. His clenched his jaw and spoke as fast as you could hoping that if he got her mind onto something else she wouldn't freak out and think that he had intended that, "Er... you've got to stop rocking back on your kicking leg before you strike. It tells your opponent what you're about to do. Try again."

The entirety of what had happened didn't quite register with the girl, but when she heard Rhiam's voice she was intent on her focus. Alright, so without rocking back she needed to bring her kick. That shouldn't be too hard, granted, she hadn't done a spectacular job so far. Suddenly the girl noted something, she wasn't sure what is was, but the boy almost seemed paniced for a moment. Without giving it a second thought the child brought her leg around at Rhiam, trying to align her leg with whatever body she could get ahold of, while using her arms to guard.

Rhaim was still flustered as the girl sent another kick towards him with the same leg once again. He didn't want to somehow have a repeat of the last time he had countered so instead he stepped back outside of the kick and then once it was past he stepped back in. He opted for a fairly cheap shot considering his size over the girl, tapping her on the top of the head. Despite the fact that she wasn't landing a kick and that she was still getting tagged, Rhaim was glad to see that she never let up.
As he stepped back from his touch he let his left leg hang out a tiny bit forward, "Don't just throw kicks or punches because you can. Either hit because you see an opening or to create an opening."
The young Nara hoped that the small nameless girl would take the hint and try to sweep his leg that he left out. Not only would it give her the confidence booster that she needed but it would also give him the ability to roll into the next portion of the sparring match.

The child found her heart beginning to beat slightly faster as she took a small tap to the head. These "strikes" didn't really hurt, but they were undoubtedly good motivators. Her eyes kept trained on the boy, never letting her guard down. As she watched him she saw his leg left out in front. She could take a hint if nothing else. Making as quick an attempt as she possibly good, the girl swung her leg in an attempt to catch his leg. This, apparently, was to make a point of looking for an opening. The Nara standing before, and who would hopefully be knocked down or something momentarily, was oddly astounding to the girl: not only was he a kind guy but he was also a good teacher, always making an appropriate point.

Rhaim was rather pleased with how quick and effectively the girl had taken to the opening and swept through his leg. Unfortuneately for her however he would not be simply resting to reward her for her perfect strike. In fact as he began to topple over sideways he reached out to the girl and took a hold of one arm drawing her into him. Once she was in close enough he sunk both of his arms underneath hers and locked them behind her back. As his back hit the ground the two kids were firmly pressed together, though he had made no attempt to use his legs to wrap her up.
With his mouth now next to her ear Rhaim no longer had to speak so loudly, "Your opponent won't always want to fight you directly. Sometimes you'll find yourself in a ground fight. So now all you have to do is work your way out of the hold."
Rhaim almost let the girl go however as a bit of her hair flopped into his face at the end of his instruction. It was suprisingly smooth like her cheek had been, though that made it no less bothersome to be in his face.
((First roll is a regular to hit with my +9 melee. Second roll is the Strength of the grapple. To escape you must beat the second roll using your Escape Artist skill.)) Spar

 Before the girl even had a moment to run through what had happened in her mind she found herself drug down to the ground. The Nara had landed on his back and she was now resting on top of him with her arms stuck behind her head. This was something her grandfather used to do, except her legs would also be forced up to her chest making it impossible for her to free herself. His words rested by her ears as the girl tried to catch her breath from the sudden fall. The boy's grip was tight, but she figured that she could get out of it one way or another.
Without hesitation the girl smirked as she began to wriggle her way out of his grip. Her movements were sharp and quick in an attempt to loosen his grip. If push came to shove she would take off her jacket in order to slip out, she had another shirt on anyways. With another quick jerk of her shoulders she found a gap big enough for her to get out of. As soon as one arm was free she pulled the rest of her body out and tugged the ribbon free from her hair in order to make sure he didn't manage to grab a handful. She wasn't sure if that was how one was supposed to grapple, but she had managed to free herself from the hold none the less.
